I hear you, sister! In the last three years, I have lost 10-15 lbs. Gained it back. Lost it again. Gained it back. And I am now working on losing it again...hopefully for GOOD!

Just wanted to add: Here is a GREAT example of how the numbers on the scale are not the end all and be all. LOTS of people want to be less than 135 lbs. I am here to tell you, if I can look like the gal in this video who is 134.4 I would be THRILLED!! https://youtu.be/g3QNLCe4x_I Trying to embed the video...…

5'5" starting weight at around 153 lbs. Current weight 146 I usually feel "okay" at 135 lbs. I'd love to see what 125 lbs. feels like but mostly... ...I want to be fit and strong. Current measurements: bust: 37" waist: 29" abdomen (2 inches below belly button): 36" hips (widest point): 41" Oh, and I forgot to mention, I am…

Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed, I just repeat to myself, "Do the next thing. Do the next thing." Each good choice you make (foodwise or exercise) is one step closer to being where you want to be...but that final goal can seem so far away at times (which can be discouraging, making you think, "Will I ever get there?")…

:s YIKES! No wonder it takes more and more work to keep it off the older I get.

I'm thinking two pigtails like Boo from Monsters, Inc. I bet it'd distract your opponents when sparring! ;)

Not trying to start and argument here, but I feel the need to point out that there are other trainers who recommend the opposite in regards to timing your carbs. Eating carbs early in the day can trigger the insulin yo-yo that some people struggle with. This makes most people crave MORE carbs and overeat throughout the…

I agree, Mrs. Schimmy. BMI is nothing more than a "fancy" version of the old height-weight chart.

I think it would be so cool to try that! I have this on my Amazon Wish List:

Don't panic! Trust the process. If you are eating healthy foods in a calorie deficit for your body's requirements, you WILL lose weight. It will fluctuate up and down, but the trend will be in a downward direction. If your weight goes up and continues to go up over a period of time, you will need to re-examine what you are…

I always take that as a sign I need to get up and MOVE MY BODY! :p

Another option would be to look into intermittent fasting. (Do a Google search and you will find lots of info. There is also an IFF group here on MFP) Some people practice 16:8 which is not eating anything for 16 hours and consume your daily calories during an 8 hour period. I know this sounds a little whacky, but there…

WOW! That is pretty amazing! I'd love to know how you did that.

Check out 12 Minute Athlete and ZuzkaLight on Youtube. You will find they both do workouts in various locations -- outdoors, on the beach, in a park, etc. They are quick, use little to no equipment, don't require taking classes or being in a gym, and they will kick your tail!

I agree. I tend to crave carbs in the morning...but if I eat them I want to eat, eat, EAT all day! Lately, I have been trying skipping breakfast altogether (except coffee) and it is working quite well. I am even able to workout in this fasted state. Also, the weight is FINALLY dropping off. Glory hallelujah! ;)

I see smaller waist, tighter buns. Keep up the good work!

You should do some research into intermittent fasting. There is some heavy-duty research out there that indicates, not only is it GOOD for you when trying to lose weight, but it may have significant health and anti-aging effects. The whole "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was a propaganda push years ago by…

It usually happens the day AFTER I complain here about how I can't seem to lose any weight and how discouraged I am...next day...BOOM! :D
-
Oh my! You are my fitness twin! ;) I'm 49, same height, same weight, same goal! I was doing well last year, and then I got out of all my good habits. Next thing I know, all my clothes are feeling tight. (Sheesh! Did they all shrink?) So I get on the scale and screamed EEEEEEEK! I was back up more than 10 lbs. So, here I…

Are you watching your carbs? I find the MFP recommended carb numbers are high. Are you keeping tabs on your sugar intake...that can sabotage your weight and your energy levels. Also, are you eating plenty of good fats? Personally, I have much more energy when I am getting plenty of fats from healthy sources like avocado…

I totally feel your pain. Since my teens, I have NEVER been one of those gals who could eat whatever I wanted and be slim. I've always battled to keep off the weight...but now that I am in my upper 40's it is EVEN HARDER! I can go for weeks eating healthier & within my calorie goals and exercise diligently (walking, HIIT,…

Sticking to the plan, working out hard and eating clean, even when the @#$*^! scale refuses to budge. I get really frustrated when I make MAJOR changes in my eating and activity, but don't see any positive results for weeks at a time. While my Brain knows the scale doesn't really matter, and that I am doing good things for…

I agree with what another poster said about abdominal bloat...I can look 5 months pregnant almost instantly if I eat certain foods. You might take a look at your diet and see if anything is sabotaging your goals. Otherwise, you can tone the abdominal muscles, but if you have deposits of fat, the only way to lose them is to…

Are you eating a lot of carbs? That can wreak havoc with your insulin response and make you retain fat. Just a thought. You might try increasing your protein and healthy fats intake and reduce the carbs (especially the higher glycemic ones like bread, white potatoes, certain fruits, fruit juices etc.)

Oh sister, I feel your pain! The scale is so often NOT our friend! This is why I always, ALWAYS suggest keeping track of measurements (like bust, waist, hips, thigh, etc.) I don't know that you are doing anything wrong. --You may have been retaining fluid on your weigh-in day. --You may be making great muscle gains, which…

Whoah! NoWheat4me2Da, you lost 4 lbs. in a week?!? :noway: How did you DO that???

Oh what a happy way to spend my Christmas Eve morning. I can't have a cat...even though I love them. Hubby is allergic to kittehs. I suppose I love him more!

I will probably do a strange hybrid mash up of The 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30. Between the two DVD's you have 7 different workouts to choose from. So pick a DVD, pick a level, do a workout. I'll do this maybe 4 or 5 times a week and do something else on other days. There are great workouts on Zuzka's YouTube channel.…

Never. Never. Never. It constantly predicts that I will be considerably less in 5 weeks than I ever actually achieve in that time period. That being said, I am not actually "overweight," so my losses are very, very slow...much slower than the MFP predicts. But I'm okay with that because slower is more sustainable for me…

I got a little behind everyone else, but I'm still plugging along! We had some really bad weather and I managed to hurt my back shovelling snow and ice, so I was forced to take one & even two days rest between workouts. A few years ago, I had a back injury so bad that I could only lay flat or stand up straight for a couple…
