Made an error in my post above...today I did Level 1 Day 6, not day 5. Duh. I also did some running up and down my stairs, some burpees & 20 minutes jumping rope. Take THAT fats cells!

Thank you so much for posting that link! I love math and stats and graphs, and that was such an encouraging post because it demonstrated that even though you can have lots of fluctuations (I do) if you back up a little and look at the big picture, you can see that your weight can still be trending downward and getting…

I have not done Ripped in 30, but I have a friend who did and got amazing results. I think in that DVD Jillian applied some of the "exercise science" she has learned post 30 Day Shred. Soooo...I have a question for those of you who are weighing yourselves. What kinds of changes, if any, are you seeing on the scale?…

I am so thankful for folks who have continued to bump this thread...I happened to stumble upon it, and SO glad I did!

You are the best! I LOVE math! :flowerforyou:

Some folks may lose weight initially, but I am not going to be surprised if my scale goes up a bit at first because I think I am gaining muscle at a faster rate than I am losing fat! But it will all pan out in the end. And to tell the truth, I'm more concerned with being slim & firm than I am with some stupid number on my…

Checking in with my progress. I did day 4 on Thursday and day 5 on Friday plus a half hour of jumping rope. I think I'm going to take an active break today (walking for an hour and doing other less demanding activitys), and maybe even tomorrow. I know I needed a break because I was feeling fatigued, not sore...ya' know…

Just a reminder to everyone: IT'S NO SIN TO TAKE A REST & RECOVERY DAY!!! Getting injured and being unable to workout at all is NOT the goal here! Trust me, I know all about this...I hurt my back working out in the past and ended up with 2 weeks of only being able to lay flat or stand up straight. Sitting was excruciating.…

The perception of difficulty may vary from person to person, but there is no doubt that the mechanics of running on a treadmill are different from running on outside terrain. Here is just one example I yanked from an article about it: "Hamstrings: Because a machine powers the treadmill belt, the mechanics of your running…

Never too late!

Choccie -- No need to rush yourself...you don't want to get injured!!! :noway: Several folks here have said they are probably going to take "rest days" so you will catch up in no time! No need to double up.

We're here to cheer you on! You can do it!!!!

I think that is probably because you are good and warmed up. I jump rope with a leather speed rope (instead of running) regularly. When I first started months ago, I would have rather run a mile than jump rope for 5 minutes. If you think jumping with an imaginary rope is challenging, let me tell you, it's even harder with…

Day 2 -- DONE! Not only that, but I did the first circuit twice. I was just finishing circuit one when I got interupted. By the time I got back to finish my workout, I was no longer warmed up, so I just started all over again. Do I get bonus points? QUESTION: Is anyone planning on taking break/rest days? I am just…

Did you take measurements before you started? (Waist, hips, bust, etc?) Please remember that muscle is much denser than fat...in other words 1 lb. of muscle takes up considerably less space than 1 lb. of fat. Here is a photo of 5 lbs. muscle vs. 5 lbs. fat: SO, it is very much possible that you can gain on the scale but…

I'm IN! I just did Day 1 of Level 1 this morning...then came to MFP looking for a group with some support, only to find you guys are starting on the same day. YAY! I've been doing my own "garage" workouts for a while...mostly HIIT style stuff. But it's getting COLD here in Wyoming, so I thought I'd pull out the…

25 (And looking great, whatever the age!)

I can't help but wonder what the agenda is behind the whole pushing of the flu shot. I can't help but wonder about the fact that someone is making a LOT of money off of immunizing the majority of the population. I remember some years back when there were the scare tactics that went something like this: "If you don't get…

I am SERIOUSLY thinking of giving this a shot. I am not opposed to daily weigh-ins, especially once you hit your maintenance weight. My hubby weighs himself daily but doesn't let the number devastate him. He just takes notice when it starts to trend consistently upwards and knows that needs to be nipped in the bud. But…

I can't believe how RUDE people can be. You look AMAZING! Next time anyone says anything like that (especially the dumb broads at the gym) I'd be tempted to reply with the following: "At least I am working on improving my weight, your low I.Q. however, will never get any better!"

Looking at your profile picture, I'd say you have a great smile & a lovely face. Also, even though you are currently a bit larger than you want to be, you have a very nice, feminine, hour-glass-proportioned shape.

I'm so glad to see you measured yourself. That is a much more accurate way to see progress than by your weight. I have (in the past) seen myself stay the same weight or even gain a little but LOSE INCHES at the same time. If you are working out and eating healthy, you are doing good things for your body. It WILL respond…

I've read so many conflicting reports on how to actually DO Tabata. For this reason, I have been calling it HIIT or Tabata-style because I don't know if I'm doing it exactly "right." Is there a site you recommend for reliable information & maybe a sample workout or two? ETA: Duh, nevermind. I see someone above posted a…

I too was initially a little disappointed when I researched calorie burn for Tabata. But then I really thought about it... I think it was Mark Twain who said, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics." Unless the person is performing in a lab with very sophisticated monitors, I take any "calorie burn" figure as a…
