Nice job on loosing the excess baggage! you look great.

Fact - I've burnt over 2500 Cals running (for 3 hours/ 20 miles). I've never done this walking, but I guess walking a few more miles would be the same number of calories. It would also take me ALL DAY. nuff said.

If anyone cares - you can download the garmin fit app for the iphone and use that with the garmin HRM (though I cant work out if this calculates your calories based on heart rate or not)!!! Sadly you need to pay £40 for the heart rate receiver. probably not the best ever value for money... Apparently some android devices…

If you are going to bother with this, FT4 would be my recommendation, if only because Polar seems to work with every bit of gym kit ever made, no questions asked.... The thing is, they are really, really useful for about a month when you can calibrate the MFP calories / exercise machine against your HRM calculated ones -…

Just takes practice... and some 'mills are better than others....

Actually - the wikki article backs up what I was saying - uncomfortable whilst running but not an ongoing issue caused by the running... I guess the OP needs to be more specific...

Its more likely diet, allergies or even some sort of bug than the running which is affecting you. I know a lot of people who have stomach cramps when running, or who feel really uncomfortable if they run soon after they eat (me included) but none who link running to diarrhea or constipation

Wow - those are some fantastic times you're aiming for! Brighton will be my first Marathon and my goal is 3:45 +/- 15 minutes, in other words I wont be disappointed under 4 hours and I stand a chance of hitting 3:30... my long runs have been at 8:40's and my best half is a 1:40 which puts me on track for the above. Bare in…

PS - against my advice my cousin did the lemon juice diet and lost 10lb in 1 week Then she gained 9lb the following week eating a calorie controlled balanced diet: so she lost 1lb in two weeks She also had a really miserable time during the week she followed the diet as well as being demoralised by the whole thing. FAD…

Loosing 28lb in two weeks isn't a healthy target - looking 14 lb is both achievable and much better for you - and likely to set you on a path where you can maintain your weight loss and ultimately maintain your goal weight. In answer to your specific question - grilled or steamed fish (or any seafood in fact) is very…

I'm pretty much fuelled by caffeine.. not sure if I can actually live without it... It makes sense that fermenting starches and sugars are what causes the gas. But then why would onions be a definite trigger? I'm going to have to do some serious experimentation!

Whilst you are right to be concerned about taking advice from people who don't qualify themselves, I cant see how that can be applied to this post.... his first rule isn't "do my program" its "do a program written by a professional" Furthermore this post isn't titled "Things you should do if you want to strength train" -…

You can post this in almost any context - from sports to you love life :) Great post.

You are doing fantastically :) congratulations.

I have an opinion :) - Weight loss is simply a question of calories in vs calories out - Healthy living is about where those calories come from (food quality and balanced diet) - Getting the body you want is about doing the right kind of training Anything outside of this is someone finding a new way to make money from old…

I think I they based all of the calorie estimates by testing on my identical twin, HRM, Garmin GPS watch (which uses speed and incline but not heart rate), Gym machines and MFP are all well within 10% difference - and have been consistently during my weight loss. The consensus is that HRM is the most accurate estimate…

If I obey the rules properly: "Little Wood End Way" - possibly the worst male stripper name ever. Little was a goldfish - and a tough one too - he survived being taken out of his bowl and carried around the house by our cat 'Ginger'. I could never get him to jump through hoops though. If I use the cat and the street I…

I think there is a big difference between blunt and rude. Blunt. "You're not loosing weight because you are only logging on weekdays" Rude "You'll always be fat because you cant be bothered to log properly" (Polite) "I see you're only logging on weekdays - I think this is probably a contributing factor to your slow weight…

I think a majority of people on MFP are very kind, supportive and helpful. Unfortunately the rude minority tend to hi-jack a lot of threads! Rudeness seems to stem from the view that "Everyone of MFP should be using it for the same reasons as me". In fact, this is nonsense. Here are some of the many goals I have seen: "I'm…

I went through a phase of having really bad blisters - including the ones under your toenails (Ouch!!!) I think the best…

Just wondering if MFP will give you a balanced sample set - we are pretty concious of what we consume here...
