Well - Organic meat and fish is incredibly pricey - no two ways about it. And free range isn't much better. I only eat ethically farmed meat and fish is possible which means that a) Its expensive b) Ready meals and fast food is an almost complete no-go. On the other hand, I do have budget constraints - so here are my top…

Runners definitely need fuel - anything over an hour of running take some form of fuel with you, and always take on recovery food after (this can be as simple as porridge with full fat milk - I'm not advocating all these recovery shakes although they can be good too.)

I would say so, yes - 1200 is the smallest possible intake someone can healthily sustain. I know a lot of people who work out and say that they actually lost quicker when they increased their intake a small amount (whilst maintaining a deficit) because they had more energy and were therefore more motivated to train hard.…

Yes, it works. - And yes, if you exercise you will (probably) loose quicker as its easier to create a larger calorie deficit - plus you will feel healthier and look more toned.

Got it.... If you are not eating back exercise calories and you are only eating 1200 Cals per day whilst working out you are simply not eating enough! Also - I find that I'm hungry the day after a big work out (I do long distance running) rather than the day I do it so it makes complete sence that you are hungry on rest…

@megabyt23 - Profile if it had been in focus... else #5

So posing rather than working ;) @Krizzo87 I like the 3rd one - you look sultry
-
Yes! I mean, don't go and do a couple of marathons or anything stupid but training twice is great - especially if they are different types of exercise - eg strength training and CV work.

@alyssa_rest has to be the bikini pic

When I started out I found the tread mill easier - but as I progressed I found running out doors more and more enjoyable and the mill duller and duller. However - both have their place in my training regime.... Long runs (once a week, 8 - 15 miles) - Outside - either cross country or on road Pace runs (once a week) -…

Don't know - I've never put it to the test! TNP didn't think they needed a wee... until now.
-
False. I don't believe in any form of spiritual realm at all. TNP is sceptical about evolution
-
False - Although I always get faint when I have needle stuck in me (injection or blood taken) TNP thinks men look good in pink
-
True - but who hasn't? TNP would rather be somewhere else right now.
-
False - Just the back lawn TNP giggled at 'back garden'

I could answer your question better if you opened your diary. Its not about how much you eat but what you eat and drink too. Its also about change: Lots of people find they feel pretty bad if they are moving from junk food to healthy food for a week or so. Basically, if you are still eating poor quality food - either very…

This is one of those topics where I normally can't be bothered to reply any more - I certainly didn't read the entire thread because its entirely predictable - everyone thinks what they are doing is right and nothing written here is going to change that! My advice: - Do the exercises you enjoy and which help you reach your…

Reasons to wear shoes: - Protection from sharp objects such as glass, thorns etc - Better grip on slippery surfaces - Hygine Reason not to wear shoes: - Better balance and posture - Builds strength in your ankles - There is research that says that cushioning in shoes actually means that you are more likely to get injuries…

Firstly, which country are you in? Qualifications are different everywhere. Your post reads as if you are in teh USA in which case I cant help much with the qualifications. Regarding finding a therapist, I suggest you do a little research and find out what type of therapy you feel will work for you. There are several…

A) You're wrong. Fish is lovely! B) If I accept your basic position that you don't want 'fishy fish' try 'fish fingers' (not sure if that translates to the USA - if not look it up) they are basically cod or haddock in breadcrumbs - they are cheap, healthy, not very 'fishy' and no bones.

An interesting thought on this just came to me: In a relationship I like the role of protector and provider. I think this is part of the male psyche. I also like thinking of women as equals - although equal in value does not mean being identical in character, strengths or attributes. So then I got to thinking about strong…

Lets flip that on its head - if you're not going to do anything useful with that fuel, what's the point in eating?
-
Depends what exercise you are doing - for example I love my Garmin watch but thats because if use it for cycling and running - it does a lot more than count calories. Just for calories - Agree - HRM.
-
Depends on your goals. If you want to be a fast runner - stick to the tread mill and get yourself some varied interval training sessions (speed and / or incline pyramids work best). If you just want to burn calories and build core strength - stick to the elliptical: its better for your joints.

Positive approach: Running 1 mile takes 7-12 minutes for most people depending on your fitness level (To put that in perspective, I do 71/2 minutes per mile for a half marathon, The marathon winners take about 5 minutes per mile). So.. if you run 6 miles (10k) at a 10 minute mile, that's ~800 calories AND an hour in which…

Short answer - yes. Doing anything active is a form of exercise, and you are entitled to log it and eat it... BUT - Unless you are talking about very heavy laundry or a very long walk to get to the line, its not going to be that many calories. I would consider this task to be closer to weight lifting than cardio work, and…

1lb Fat ~ 3,500 KCals: That's up OR down.. so unless you ate a total of 14,000 KCal over your maintenance calories this weekend, you haven't put on 4lb of fat. Almost certainly what has happened is that you have some additional water retention, and/or have some food still being digested. Keep an eye on the scale over the…
