Being a sushi virgin is like... well.. being a virgin. When you try it for the first time you will understand what all the fuss was about and at the same time wonder what the big deal was. was that funny at all?

Technically its the thread title which is spelt incorrectly...

Spot on: I eat to fuel my work outs - I don't work out so I am allowed to eat more. (Doesn't stop me enjoying my fuel though)

Hey, I'm a radical, free thinking, boundary pushing, mould breaking kinda guy. Here's another one: Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat: it's denser than fat. And whilst we're at it: No, Sex isn't listed as an exercise - anyway, how many calories can anyone burn in 2 minutes?
-
Didn;t you didn't know I've been travelling to Moscow a lot and have been too busy to play? Did you miss me as much as i missed you? And what's with the 'young' in 'young man'?
-
quote from the actual article: So, almost a complete contradiction with the OP: it just says don't eat more than you burn. Duh.

Does this count as a question?

Right! Its sexist. What happened to all the Hegrampigans?
-
Cant even be bothered to explain how many shades of wrong you are. I will say this: Try riding a bike for 70 miles without replenishing any of your exercise calories. You will have a really, really crappy day!
-
True. The partridge doesn't sound too fattening but those 6 geese a laying will send you way over your calorie limit. Unless you join those ladies dancing and lords-a-leaping. Sounds like a pretty good workout.

I agree with the poster who said 'its a whole season' - one day is fine, its the 10 friends you haven't seen all year who invite you for coffee and mince pies... The wife's family gathering, my families big gathering, the works do, the new years eve party, the new years day fry up.... And at each one people will tell you…

Weight training is pointless in my opinion. Who wants to have big muscles and no stamina? No - I don't really think this... I really think that every individual has to find a balance which works for them - Nutrition, Strength, CV etc. It amazes me that people can be so close minded as to think that the way which worked for…

Dec 9th 2012 - Bedford Half Marathon May 11th 2013 - Rat Race Dirty Weekend - Half Mucker (13 miles, 150 tough obstacles) Might squeeze in a few more Cross Countries over the winter too.
-
For those people who claim "If you can talk / read etc you're not working out" I think this is a rather narrow minded view - and without wanting to point fingers, its generally the one held by those who are lifters. I completely agree that strength training requires concentration and good form - back ground music might be…

Looks awesome. Wish I was close enough to do this next year. I did a trail half last year and that was brilliant fun. Lovely photos too. 2013 I'm doing this: http://www.ratracedirtyweekend.com/

Interesting question... as a rule: Long social runs and bike rides (anything over 8 miles) - I chat to my friends. one of them has a T-Shirt saying "Run at the speed of chat" which is a great philosophy if all you want to do is rack up the miles.... Running or Cycling outside on my own I never have any distractions... I…

First, knocking 10 minutes off your time is a big challenge- make sure you have enough time to train because getting extra speed is harder than going further in my opinion. Second, try getting a copy of "run less run faster" which is an excellent book with great training programs for increasing your speed. Basically they…

Interesting - I recently FB friended an ex who I dated when I was 17-18. -We never stopped being friends after we split up but we lost touch with when I went to University. I'm 36 years old now and I've been with my wife since I was 23. Absolutely no issues with this friendship but its an exception... I would say that that…

First time out on the mountain bike :) quite muddy!

I would never say "Can't" but the consensus of advice I have read is that whilst barefoot running (minimalist shoes or actual barefoot) is great for improving technique, there is still a lot to be said for the extra cushioning of 'regular' trainers over longer distances in preventing injury. This advice could well be aimed…

Actual Plan for next few weeks: Tonight (Thurs) - 5K pace run Friday - Coached Swim Sat - 8-10 miles, road, 8mm or faster Sun - Mountain Biking - Messing about until I run out of energy! Mon - Get up 5am, Fly to Russia - Get to hotel by 6pm - 45min CV + 45min Weights? Tues - 30 CV - go out to dinner with Russian friends…

What sort of distances are you running? I understand teh technique is good for all distances but the shoes are not a good idea for anything over 10K
-
I'm still learning about this myself - I'm pretty new to cycling. Most peopel say "Turbo if its dark, Mountain bike if its light" Apparently you can find turbo plans here: http://www.turbotraining.co.uk/indoorCyclingWorkout.php?nav=search I'm fortunate enough to be part of a club where they run them publicly - a bit like…

So true!!! The exception is hill running of course, whereby going up a steep hill you inevitably toe strike (there is a technique where you turn sideways to run up steep hills - pretty good for preventing injuries from overextending your calf) and coming down you are going to be on your heals a little as you will need to…
