  • Hello geboynton. I'm 56 and post menopausal with about 54lbs to lose so in a similar situation to you. I've been following 5:2 and have lost 1.4 kg in my first week without any problems. It allows me to eat just over 2000 calories 5 days a week but a very restrictive 500 calories just 2 days a week so it fits in with…
  • I live in France but came from England.
  • Thanks for the replies so far. Yes, we arrived home late last night and I weighed first thing this morning. My muscles are still a bit sore so maybe they're hanging on to some water. I've stopped the extra food as I'm determined not to put weight on. It's just frustrating to have worked so hard and not lost anything. The…
  • I did this a few years ago when frozen turkeys were on promotion. It was an economical, high protein food. After you've carved off all the meat, you can boil up the carcass with some veg (onions, carrots, celery etc) to make a delicious soup.
  • I'm also looking for some new friends, for motivation and with similar food habits. I'm British but live in France where we try to live the 'good life', growing a lot of our own food. Like you, I mostly eat food I've prepared myself and little in the way of processed stuff. As you'd expect, I do a lot of gardening so…
  • Yes, I'd be very interested in joining the challenge. I joined a promising-sounding challenge earlier this year but it fizzled out and only 2 of us finished the 3 month challenge! Even the person who started it gave up after 2 weeks. That's not the sort of motivation I need. If I say I'm doing something, I do it but I'd…
  • 171 cm tall Starting weight 93.8 kg 12 week target 87kg 12 week result 85.4 kg Goal weight 73kg So I've lost 8.3 kg which I'm really pleased about. It's a combination of following the 5:2 diet plan and more exercise. I've been away for 2 holidays over this 12 weeks where I gained weight on the first and remained static on…
  • I follow the 5:2 IF plan and have lost 8kg in just under 3 months. I restrict calories to 500 a day for 2 days a week (usually Monday and Wednesday) and eat 2000 on the other days. I really enjoy the fasting days and seem to have more energy than usual. For instance, 4 hours working in the garden followed by Zumba in the…
  • The 5 :2 diet is great. I've lost 8kg since the 13th March, which I consider to be a steady loss. The 2 'fast' days are not a total fast; you actually eat 500 calories. It has been proven to have many beneficial health effects such as reducing blood sugar and 'bad' cholesterol as well as losing weight. I find it easy to…
  • Another tasty recipe is spicy lentils baked inside large field mushrooms. You cook mixed lentils (must include some dark ones) with some shallots, garlic, chilli, chopped mushroom stalks and mixed herbs in a little water (or a tsp olive oil). Spoon the mixture inside washed large mushrooms. Cover wih a lid and bake in an…

  • Hi there. I've just signed up to this group as I don't each much meat at all. We grow a lot of our own fruit and veg and keep chickens so our diet is based on that. I do buy various types of dried beans, chick peas, lentils, nuts and seeds. My 2 favourite non-soup recipes are a spicy bean casserole and chick pea and…

  • Nice weightloss jsykesgirl :) How is the food plan going and what are you doing for exercise? I'm still trying to lose back the weight I put on over the holiday but as I've been very good with exercise and food over the last 4 days i reckon I could be there when I weigh in tomorrow. Well i hope so anyway. I'm in this for…
  • Well done ksmiley :) I'm disappointed that for a lot of people, this challenge seems to have finished. I will continue.
  • 171 cm tall Start date 13th March 2013 Starting weight 93.8 kg Today’s weight 87.3kg (9 weeks 2 days from start) 12 week target 87kg Goal weight 73kg So, 0.3kg away from my 12 week target despite gaining whilst away on holiday. I’ve lost 6.5kg in total but feel and look quite a lot slimmer. I do lots of slow-burn cardio…
  • I just had an idea. As the rest of the challenge posts have been inactive for a while, why don't we post our progress on here? I think we all started at different times so we could put our start date on too. How about every Friday, starting tomorrow? I will if you will.
  • I'm so happy that there are still quite a few of us around and we're all determined to make this challenge happen. Well done to all of us who are sticking to it and to those of us who have fallen off the bandwagon and are now back on it :) I did put 4lb on when I went on holiday for a week (south of France, cheese, red…
  • Is anybody there? I'm surprised how quiet it's become on the 12 week challenge. I hope I'm not the only person still aiming for a big improvement at the end of 12 weeks. If you're still up for the challenge, please respond or I'll feel like a 'Billy no mates'. Incidently, one week into the challenge, I switched to the 5:2…
  • I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but.... My 4 week weigh shows a loss from 93.8 to 88.1 which is 5.7kg (12 1/2 lbs). I'm very pleased and feeling very motivated to carry on. I would like to be at my target weight by the time I go on holiday in October. Bikini time ahead! I have loads more energy so…

  • Vendee, western France.
  • Salut. J'ai vécu en France depuis 2 ans bien que je suis anglaise. J'aime vivre ici et j'aime la nourriture qui est une des raisons pourquoi je dois être sur MFP!
  • I'd like to join up too, please. I started the food plan last Tuesday weighing 93.8 kg and today I weigh 90.3! I know some of it will be water in the first week but I think it's a great start so I'm happy. I am so fed up of being flabby, not being able to wear most of my clothes get out of breath walking up steep hills…
