Don't knock the lettuce wrap! I do it, not to avoid bread, but so I can eat more of the other things I like better than bread. I have a couple pieces of toast most mornings with my eggs, but I'll lettuce wrap a delicious sandwich so I can have more of the yummy insides. We had burgers at work a couple of weeks ago. Sitting…

Working out will make you healthier, but eating less is the only thing that will make you lighter.

hundredpushups.com It's not terribly exciting, but it is free and gets great results in general fitness.

Are you drinking enough water?

My wife and I are training for our first half marathon. We did the C25K last summer and have run several 5k's, and decided to kick it up a notch.
-
Not completing a new workout that is above your fitness level is not failure, dropping exercise because of such an event is. About every program I've used like C25K or hundredpushups will tell you that if you can't complete the full set, you just need to repeat the week. Don't stop until you master it.

This is quite possibly... the greatest thing I have read in a while. Bravo.

Unless it's for ethical reasons, there is no reason to go that route. There's no health benefit to cutting out an entire food group. Meat is an integral part of a well-rounded diet. Doesn't mean you have to eat it every meal or, honestly, every day, but you should be eating lean meat regularly.

I make venison jerky sometimes. I can't remember the exact recipe, but I know we use some soy sauce and liquid smoke plus some dry spices. I marinade it overnight before putting it in the dehydrator. Stuff is addictive as sin.

If you're under your calorie goal? No, it won't affect weight loss. The issue is simply if you're eating that much fat, that's less protein and carbohydrates you're getting and missing out on those nutrients. It's possibly a health issue, but not a weight loss issue. You're probably fine there, anyway.

My wife is about 21.5% body fat and I'm about 19%. She had our second child a year ago July, and I guess I thought that if she had a big belly, I needed one too. She's now lost down to below her pre-baby weight, and I'm below where I was before kids as well and still dropping. She was motivated and moving first, so I had…

Don't try to dispel the urge, plan for it. Find a snack that works with your goals, and make SURE that you only bring the portion you intend to eat out of the kitchen. Put the rest away before you even sit down.

Turkey Jerky No-fat Greek yogurt (w/fruit, dip mix, etc.) Nuts

Just physical stimulation. Rubbing against fabric from normal movement tricks the little guy into thinking things are happening when they aren't.

The downside to excessive sugar intake, is that, if you stick to your macro percentages, the sugar is taking up room from other carbs that provide more nutrition. If your macros are in line, it's not going to affect your weight loss. You may just be a touch under on some of your nutrients that come from good carbs. I…

Knowledgeable trainer. That is exactly the way it works. Your skin will snap back over time or it won't. Surgery is the only way to fix it if it doesn't. Give it time. My youngest will turn 1 in July. My wife dropped her baby weight quickly and had loose skin for several months. Eventually, it readjusted.
-
You can't avoid it, I'm sorry. The good news is, at 29 your skin should adjust. How much will vary from person to person, but given enough time, your skin should re-size itself to some degree.

I have three eggs and toast most mornings. Also do no-fat Fage with fruit or something in it.

Seriously, you guys need to invest in running shorts. They have a breathable liner that keeps the business supported without giving you a nasty swamp-crotch. I only wear running shorts to workout, and my wife wears either running shorts or compression gear. Sweaty cotton undies are not only gross, they put you at risk for…
-
Yeah, you might even amend your macro percentages, do 40/30/30.

Food bags or small containers of turkey jerky and nuts. Quest bars (really any bar of your choice, that would be mine). Hmmmm... dry cereal. Raisins.
-
Ditto taking another rest day. Wouldn't hurt to mix your runs up, either. Try doing fartlek or hills on one of your run days.

Oh my word, no. Just... no. Carbs are carbs, there is absolutely NO SUCH THING as a 'net' carb. Why on Earth would you screw up the database with this insanity? If that's what you are tracking, just do the carbs - fiber math on your daily total.
-
You aren't obese by any measure, just the inaccurate ones. BMI is horrible, and should never be consulted. I would look at your measurements and body fat %. If your waistline is in a good place, you are probably about where you should be. I have a thing against BMI because if I were at 10% body fat, I would still be in the…

Nutritionally, they are usually not that different from any other chips. Compare labels. Like John said, if it fits your macros (daily allowances).
-
Running shorts with a liner for all work outs. Undies while exercising is a nasty no-no.

It makes logical sense that thigh muscles would pull energy from the fat stores closest to them, but that's not the way the body works. It stores and burns energy as a whole unit, wherever it wants to. So yes, just keeping a calorie deficit will eventually burn the fat over your thighs, exposing the muscle that's already…

Place where I live does Friday night painting classes. Everybody paints the same thing and they come out looking pretty nice. For Valentines, they did a couples night where your two canvases were the left and right half of the same scene. Canoeing. Two of you in a small boat with nowhere else to go. Have to work together…

I'm at the age where most of our friends have kids, but none of them are in school yet. Seen plenty of friends who are flat-belly, bikini-rocking moms with stripes from the kiddos. Kinda think it's sexy. Like a battle scar marking doing something amazing. War wound from a battle worth fighting.
