When you start running, and C25K is a fantastic way, pay attention to your breath. Try to inhale over three steps and then exhale over three. If you can't maintain that, back off. Also, breathe way down deep. Shallow chest breathing will make you out of breath faster, draw breath down deep in your belly. It might take a…

My phone is never off my person unless I'm home, so I have no reason to lock it. My wife and I grab each others phones all the time to take pictures or look something up. We'll often relay texts to each other if one of us is closer to the other's phone. I wouldn't trust someone who kept a device off-limits to friends or…

Were you fitted for your shoes at a running store? One that does a gait analysis? I've never come across a runner that would put insoles in their running shoes. I would say you've either got the wrong shoes for your feet/gait, or some other problem that wouldn't be fixed by insoles. With the pain coming in after a certain…

Weight loss from cutting out those two things? Nope. Weight loss comes form a calorie deficit, not from cutting out two dietary groups.

Tried some cauliflower 'fried rice' that someone else made, and it's one of our favorite dinners now. We'll usually add chicken and more veggies like broccoli, green beans, carrots, or onion. Don't knock cauliflower substitutions. It's got less than 1/4 of the caloric load of rice, which lets me make a much tastier,…

Ditto the 'all or nothing' type. I can't do the treat thing, though some can with no problem. I will say this: Having that candy bar will usually (not always) result in you wanting another candy bar at some point. I find that cutting something like candy bars out entirely for a long enough period of time will eventually…

+1 for bodyweight exercises. hundredpushups.com has a killer pushup program.

Bothered my wife way more than it bothered me, which was not at all. Right now, she's the sexiest she's been since I've known her, and that is post-nursing for 9 months x2.

And if you are just looking for muscle definition, which is what people wanting to 'tone' are generally looking for, that comes from simply losing enough body fat that the muscles underneath peek through. Sit ups or crunches won't give you a six pack, eating less than your body burns in a day will eventually (key word…

I shouldn't say anything, but I'm going to go against better judgement. Yes, it is wrong to want to find people who look like you. It's no less racist when it's being done by minorities than by the majority. The color of your skin is the least viable way to find people you have something in common with.

Aldi. Some of their house branded stuff is the same as TJ's. As in, same SKU and different label. We discovered this when using a barcode scanner on Aldi red pepper tapenade and it came up as TJ's red pepper tapenade. Same food, cheaper prices.

Perfectly put. Cheat days may not wreck your progress for the week, but they can wreck the mentality that leads to sustained loss.

Yeah, I'm not looking for sugar in my protein bar. The protein/fiber/fat in Quest bars are spot on for what I need. Plenty of bars have ~20g protein, but nobody else has the fiber. To each his own, though.
-
There's a good reason for that. I've got no brand loyalty at all, but nobody else offers close to what they do nutritionally. Cookies & cream are my favorites, by the way.

Every day, every situation. Not because I think that's necessary for everybody, some people get by fine without it, but it's much easier for me to be consistent 100% of the time. I've found in the past that if I make an exception for one thing, it makes it easier to make more exceptions, and then your exception meals…

This is making me think of other places that have non-breaded chicken. Buffalo Wild Wings - 6 Naked Tenders: 258 cal Popeyes - 3 Blackened Tenders: 170 cal Chick-Fil-A - 12 Grilled Nuggets: 200 cal
-
Our Chick-Fil-A just introduced grilled nuggets. So good and so light. I get the 12 piece grilled nugget with a side salad. Totally within my target range for a meal with no adjustments needed elsewhere to make it fit.

Fitness. You are as small as you'd ever want to be. Set fitness goals, time in a race, doing 100 pushups, etc.
-
You are free to adjust those percentages as you wish. I go with 40/30/30. If higher protein than carbs works for you, go for it. The generic MFP recommendations are based on a well-rounded, food-pyramid style diet.

Had to look the place up, wasn't familiar with it. Assuming this is the right place: http://www.nandosperiperi.com/menu, they have their menu with calories online. If it were me, I'd do a 1/4 chicken (breast and wing) and corn on the cob.

While weight loss will come simply from your 200 cal deficit, your macro percentages are wonky. You've had 6 x your protein intake in sugar. The deficit will lead to weight loss, but that is incredibly unhealthy. Your macro percentages should be much closer together than 82/9/9. Your body needs protein and it needs fat. I…

I hate those frickin' things. The best I've ever seen, though, was an adult woman, 7 stick dogs, and 9 stick cats. I've worked in banking for a decade, and I've been to countless security training where they preach putting ZERO personal information on your car. Last name as part of a personalized license plate? Somebody…

Starvation mode isn't really a thing, at least not what people make it out to be. You are probably eating more calories than you think, that's really all it comes down to. Yes, you must have a kitchen scale, your intake numbers won't be accurate without it. It could be tiny things you aren't counting, underestimates, or…

Personally, I like 40/30/30. We buy the larger bags of turkey jerky from Sam's, protein powder, eggs for breakfast, 0% fat Fage, cottage cheese, and usually some chicken with dinner. Sometimes peanut butter. Occasionally a Quest bar when we're out and about or feeling lazy.

2 or 5. My wife is probably closer to 2 between those. She's pretty darn near perfect.

Probably 1300-1500 calories. The burrito, rice & beans should be near 1000. Chips depend on how many you eat, but I would expect 300-500.
-
So, you don't have a say in the restaurant, which is understandable, but why the 'massive chicken burrito'? Hardly any Mexican restaurants that I've seen have nutrition info, nor would you want to see it. My .02, skip the chips & salsa and order a couple of tacos. Skip the rice & beans as well.

Every body is different. I know a gal who has lost a ton of weight so far, and is still losing, but she currently looks like Dr. Frankenstein put a skinny girls top half on a fat gals bottom half. It's not fair, and I feel so sorry for her, but her body just wants to save those butt calories for last. Thankfully most of us…

Meth. Meth will drop the pounds right off of you. And teeth. And hair. Sanity, too. I have used slim fast shakes as a mid-morning/mid-afternoon snack, but I upgraded to making my own with protein powder. They aren't a terrible place to start if you aren't used to between-meal snacks.

I weigh every morning when I step out of the shower, I highly recommend doing the same. It's not your weight any one day that matters, but the trend over time. Everybody fluctuates up some days, if that happens to be weigh day for you, you aren't going to feel very good about it. Weighing every day gives you a better idea…
