Someone already called douchecanoe, so... twatwaffle.

This fear that's been instilled in women that eating protein or doing any kind of exercise but cardio is going to make them look like a body builder is equal parts funny and tragic. Protein is an essential part of your diet, and powders are a good way to get some in. I like Optimum Nutrition's mint chocolate. Almost too…

Depends really on what they put on them. If I'm really craving Mexican, we'll stop by Qdoba or Chipotle and get a trio of cruchy tacos. They're 400-420 calories for all three with the way I have them dressed: roasted pork or beef, lettuce, fajita veggies, and salsa verde.

I've seen people suggest inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. To me, good breathing while running is deep and slow, no matter where the air comes in. I try to inhale over 3 steps and exhale over another 3. The hardest thing for me to learn was to breathe deep down, not shallow. Shallow breathing is a…

I'm a big believer in the humble push up. One of the best bang-for-your-buck exercises there is. To the OP doing 5x16, have a look at hundredpushups.com. They have a 3xweekly program of 5 sets/day designed to get you up to a single set of 100. Tremendous free program.

Peanut butter is great, but it is way more calorie dense than cottage cheese. You really need to be careful of your quantity, or it can get away from you. Other than that, it's perfectly fine in a healthy diet. Toast and cottage cheese sounds weird to me, but if you like it, I'd stick with it.

I'm a big fan of the hundred push-ups program @ hundredpushups.com. Free and nothing to take with you. You can also download free tabata timers on your phone and do some HIIT rounds of some good bodyweight exercises. Burpees, pushups, jumping rope, etc. I think you might be more likely to follow through with that on the…

Yeah, Omega-3's are important for overall health. Weight loss, not so much.

Yes, they count. No, I wouldn't worry about carbs from whole, fresh fruit. Carbs from Starbuck's drinks and sweets, however...

Could measure how much marinade you don't cook or just figure a tablespoon of oil per breast. Even then I think you'd be overestimating.

Couple Quest bars, some portioned containers of almonds, 2 oz portion containers of turkey jerky, maybe some cups of applesauce.

Goodness. Your calories need to be spread out through the day better. Eat a solid breakfast, lunch, and dinner with substantial snacks in between. It's okay to have a splurge snack once in a while, but a 700 calorie ice cream with no lunch and a 130 calorie breakfast is not good for you. Eating out or eating prepackaged…

I have Cholula on my eggs 'bout every morning. Gonna have to try that salsa verde and cottage cheese. Sounds weird enough to be good.

I would say to be sure you are well hydrated all the time. Heat can do that to me; if you are working out at home, look at a fan to keep your temp down. Afterthought, warming up-cooling down might also help.

Some exercises, like Zumba, have an effectiveness that directly correlates to how much effort you put in. Two identical people can do the same Zumba workout and have drastically different results because one was going 100% and the other was just going through the motions. It's not that it is a terrible workout, but it's…

That's what I don't like about elliptical machines. They can be effective if you use it properly, but it's also easy for people to cruise along and feel like they've really put in a workout, when they've barely done anything. It's harder to do that on a treadmill. Perfectly fine machines if you know how to reach the level…

1st: You will not build significant muscle mass unless you make it your goal to build muscle mass and follow a strict exercise program and diet designed to build mass. Eating a calorie deficit necessary to lose weight will never allow your body to build muscle mass. Women who lift look like women. The female body builders…

More than a 500 Calorie deficit per day is really not good for you. That's really all this is. If you figure out what calorie level you need to eat to hit a healthy deficit, then add exercise on top of that, it throws you into the unhealthy zone.

Was going to recommend Quest, myself. :) The ingredient list is brief and identifiable, two things I look for. But, yeah, almost as much fiber as protein. Maybe start with a third or half a bar at a time so as not to clear her colon all at once. The fiber should be good for her, but may be a bit much until her body adjusts.

Nothing wrong with being a veggie. Just harder to get protein the less animal products you eat. Fat-free Greek yogurt is gold, in my opinion. You can add to it and make it anything you want. Good spoon of apple butter or fresh/frozen fruit and you have a nice sweet snack. Add spices or powdered ranch/onion soup and you…

It's been said, but to reiterate: There are many types of carbohydrates, all of which contain 4 Calories per gram. Fiber and sugar are two types of carbs. Since people try to manage their intake of these two types, then under the heading of Carbohydrates they show the amount of the total that those two types of carbs make…

Crispy, corn-shelled taco trio: Barbacoa, fajita veggies, salsa verde, shredded lettuce. 420 calories for all 3; best eating out Mexican itch-scratcher I've found.
