Seeing yourself in a mirror in a public place is suddenly surprisingly ok! At a baseball game this weekend, and went to the restroom and what I saw in the mirror was so much better than it used to be. Sometimes, I'm not sure who it is, but so glad that I'm not horrified or depressed at catching a glimpse of my image!!

This is kind of where I am. I've lost 74 pounds in 17 months. I have a ways to go yet, so starting at such a high weight made the first 11-12 months easier. But that was only after the struggle of getting into a groove with workouts and logging food. I'm 51 years old, and it never clicked like this before. So yes, it can…

Happens to me daily. I sometimes just say stuff like that to send them over the edge. :)

I get what you're saying, and I agree. But I'll tell you, although the comments about my food choices are annoying, it really irritates me when people go overboard complimenting my workouts or running. It feels really condescending to me, and no, it shouldn't feel that way. Probably much more my issue than theirs!!

I lift weights 3 times a week. I think it has helped me with burning more calories than just cardio alone, and my arms look so much better than they ever did before. My legs have a lot more definition too. Also, just to clarify, my weight lifting is in a class where you do a lot of reps, faster pace, so it is also a cardio…

Agree! And that they'll give you ideas of what you should be doing.... At 75 pounds down, I'm ok with my own plan, but thanks....
-
Maybe it is the scale? It might be new battery time, if you have one like that.
-
I drink coffee every day, black. But I don't normally drink it past 10:30 am. Maybe you could limit yourself in the same way? I couldn't do away with it all together. I just really like it.

No kidding! You get so used to watching the calories, and then that one big splurge just isn't good enough to blow 1000 calories on!
-
I still have some of my old ones, but I totally agree... they never REALLY worked. It is all still right there, just smooshed around. Not worth the money at all. Let it be free!!

I'm Diane, from Colorado, and I'm 51. I've been on MFP for a long time, but I do a lot more lurking than I do posting. I love this app, as it has helped me lose 75 pounds. I have about 40 more to go to get to my first goal, and then I'll see if I want to go lower. I never thought I'd get this far, so I'm definitely in new…

This is timely... at my last weigh in, I finally reached my driver's license weight! And I'm down 75 pounds, so it was really inaccurate. I hate the picture though. I'll be glad to get that taken again when it renews.

I agree with this! Eating out, in general, is not so much of an anxiety filled event. 75 pounds ago, I always felt judged, whether I was or not. Also, a new one for me... recently I've noticed that although I've lost weight in my boobs, they actually look bigger because there is definition from having a smaller waist. It…

Me too! Big eye opener. And, how much I like the taste of mustard. I only went with it at first to break my bond with Miracle Whip and the enormous calories from that. But just a little mustard can add such flavor!
-
I log them all. Seeing the difference in calories between my beloved Miracle Whip and mustard is why I am now a big mustard fan. Never used it much before, but I do now.

Yes! This! I started C25K in February, and registered for a race in April. I couldn't run before I started the program, but I faithfully completed each day, repeating when I knew I didn't do well. I completed that race last weekend! Now, I run 3 days per week. Although I didn't notice a huge difference in weight loss or…

This is so true. I went through the entire C25K program starting in February. I kept with it and I just ran a real 5K race last weekend!!! It was amazing! I feel like it took awhile to see a difference with starting to run, but all of a sudden, my legs are much thinner and stronger. I feel like running gave me a whole new…

This is how I feel too, at 71 pounds down. Some days, I am so thrilled at what I see in the mirror and I'm amazed at the smaller sizes of clothes. Then there are the days that I see nothing but fat. I still have a ways to go, so I can't imagine what it will be like in 30-40 more pounds. What really freaked me out the other…

Speaking of super slow jogging pace... I confess that a few days ago, when I was "running", I was passed by someone who was walking. I made a comment to her about being slow, and she excused it by saying that she just has long legs. Ok, they were long, but still... she was walking. And I was "running". Ugh.
-
Gosh, I never thought about this. I have big dog, long legs and I've never taken him, because I think he'd pull too hard. But I know he wouldn't need to do anything but just walk at my super slow jogging pace.
-
I totally agree with this! We seem to be in similar places with running. C25K worked for me, too. I could barely do the first week first day, when I first started. I'm now using MapMyRun for my 3 miles, 3 times per week.

This IS Epic!!! That's amazing that even the temperature cooperated.

I love it too! I saw somewhere that there is this retired couple who has gone to all or almost all of the places he has shown on the show. What fun!!!

I love to watch lightning, but I also know how dangerous it can be. The most scared I have been in lightning was when we were riding horses in the mountains, at about 10,000 feet elevation. The lightning came in suddenly and we got off the horses as fast as we could and then ran down the mountain as fast as we could lead…

I know!!!! Why do they think that I want to touch it?? Is it really so hard to scrape it off the plate so that I don't have to?!
-
Please stop before this escalates into something that will ruin a really good thread!!!!!
-
Ha! I'm a little disappointed that my mind didn't go that direction when I first read it.
-
Sounds good. I have to try this!!
-
That made me laugh!!! Glad you cleared it up!

Don't feel bad about wanting a little time to yourself. My kids are grown, kinda, 19 & 21. I love them very much, but I also love that they are getting on with their own lives. It is fun to see them grow and make plans! AND, it is kinda awesome to have my life revolve more around what I want to do and to become a couple…
