I haven't checked the price of jiffy and peter pan b/c I grew up eating natural peanut butter. Salt and peanuts, all the way. I don't call the other stuff peanut butter, I call it....nevermind. It's a pain to mix up when you first open the jar but so worth it. I don't understand the diet peanut butters? What are they…

I used to have a juicer (actually I think it is in the basement now). I juiced carrots, but then I had kids and juicing and the clean up was too time consuming. I thought a long time about getting a vitamix and am so happy I did. I blend spinach and cucumber along with strawberries or blueberries into my protein shakes…

Yes! Go organic too.

Also, ritalin if you can legally get your hands on it.

Coffee. Go organic.

125 is not too low for someone her age at 5 foot 7 inches. It is at the bottom range of normal. If she can get there by eating healthy foods and adding muscle to her frame then I say go for it!

When you dropped to 1200 calories did you drop a bunch of carbs? Cutting your carbs has a diuretic effect, hence the big weight loss you had in a few days. When you started exercising your body grabbed water to repair your muscles. Hence the water weight gain back.

Wowza. Great job!

bump. Still looking to hear from people who upped their calories when they couldn't lose weight on lower calories.

If you have additive intolerances (mine are sulphites) or mold allergies, then pizza especially with bacon or with pepperoni really messes with your perceived weight loss. I can pack on a good 5 pounds overnight in water weight when I eat a few slices of pizza. Just keep that in mind.

The only way to get rid of the fat covering your beautiful muscles on your legs is to bring your body fat down. You can't pick where you lose fat from right? A lot of it is genetics. My mother was a runner beach babe back in the 70's and when she went to a cosmetic surgeon to talk to him about breast augmentation he asked…

Those questions were for justjenny.

Did you lose by eating less? What was your original calorie set point? What did you bump it up to? What is your TDEE?
-
I don't overindulge carbs by far. In fact I don't eat cereal, bread and rarely rice or potatoes. If it is true that you have to be low carb to lose weight, how do you explain the people that lose weight (and yes fat) while eating 40% carbs?
-
Wonderful. Thank you.
-
What macros do you recommend? I assume you lift weight and have become more lean? How often do you lift?
-
It's my understanding that if you eat too few calories your body starts pumping out excess cortisol and that can lead to dieter's edema (water weight retention).

Thanks for running my numbers. I usually run my activity level at lightly active. I will have to up my calories b/c on days where I do spinning and yoga my legs are so fatigued it's a pain to walk up the stairs or I have to come out of warrior two on really long holds during my vinyasa class.

I couldn't agree more. We are talking about two radically different metabolic profiles here.
-
Thanks! How much of a deficit below your TDEE is 2200 for you?
-
Even if I were not logging accurately how could I be missing say over 600 calories a day? I weigh and measure my food. I'll give you say a 200 calorie error but not 600, right.
-
Hmmm, food for thought.
-
Would you mind telling me what your first calorie set point was at and what you upped it to?
-
@shemoney, those Ethiopians never gained weight to begin with. We do know that the body experiences hormonal and metabolic changes when we gain weight and when we start under eating.

Happy to hear this. Although i don't think people should be eating all the sugar that they do I only skimmed Fat Chance and it was depressing. It left me with the impression that exercise does not help with weight loss and for the most part we are all stuck witht he body type we are given (some people are predisposed to…

When I was in India I drank raw water buffalo milk. I suggest that if you can get your hands on it. I can't seem to find it in the US.

I started drinking unsweetened almond milk (silk). I would like to start making my own to cut own all the crap they add to keep it from separating. I put it in my vegan green protein smoothie. I am not vegan but I have found that whey protein makes me gassy and lethargic. Vegan protein, strawberries, almond milk, ice and…
