MFP adds your exercise calories burned back in at a 100% I hate that because they tend to over estimate IMHO so I don't count the exercise calories. I'm 6 months postoperative and have lost 80 pounds with15 or 20 to go. I'm just now amping up my exercise program. My Dr didn't have me exercising until 3 months and then not…

My wife has said some of the same things to me. But lately she hasn't said anything. I don't mean to say she hasn't been supportive because she has. While you turn into a chicken, I'll turn into a fish LOL

Congratulations on your success keep doing what you need to do. Building muscle adds weight but it is also the machine that burns calories. if you follow the directions from your Dr you will succeed just be patient with the scale. muscle mass is much more dense than fat so it could look like your body is not changed when…

Hair loss is common with WLS the good news is that it will grow back in time, after the fast weight loss. I realize this news is not comforting now when it's falling out by the hand full.

Please work with your Dr on the iron there is several choices for the anemia. The iron pill can also cause constipation. Supplemental iron can also be a injection. Randy RN

Acid reflux is a good answer here it will make you feel hungry and light headed. Also exercise and building muscles consumes protein thus adding more is needed. Our diet has us focused on the protein for a good reason, we loose muscle mass and fat together. Having enough protein helps the body hold on to muscle better. So…

I'll add my two cents I'm 61 had surgery July 2014 and have lost about 80 pounds so far. I have to say that I couldn't have asked for better success. You can have a good outcome too, just follow instructions from your team. Randy

I do Deep water aerobic exercise two days a week for one hour. Water exercise is the best solution for back and joint pain. Swimming is also a good cardio exercise.

I've known better about a lot of things but that didn't stop me from denial about getting too heavy, not exercising enough or taking better care of myself. As a nurse I've had collage courses in nutrition, anatomy, physiology, bio chemistry and much more. Yet, here I am with you wonderful people going through the same…

I understand the mental part of this BUT it's a bad idea. Our weight shifts from day to day as much as 5 pounds average, mostly fluid. If you weigh once a month you might not know you have ever stalled! I my self only weigh at the Dr. appointments, this way I avoid being discouraged. If you read what other people say on…

I totally agree with you

WOW those can be serous issues you also need to see a cardiologist strep can damage heart valves and that is nothing to play with. Randy RN

Water can be the difference, weight is not a good way to measure success or failure. Body size and shape are a better measure of success.

I agree don't be so hard on yourself, look at the glass half full instead of half empty. This is not a quick fix program, changes are needed. Take change one thing at a time making it permanent, changing too fast can lead to regret and other negative things. Randy

I thought I was prepared and I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was. My surprise was that I couldn't get enough water in. Before surgery I drank the 36 - 48 oz each day for two weeks with no problem. After surgery I could only do a spoon at a time. I'll save you the calculation it wasn't enough, and I struggled.…

I know this sounds easier said than done, but don't pay attention to weight loss, just let it go. A lot of things are going on with your body, and weight is not always going to show your success. Just have faith that your team has a plan for you to follow, and it will work.

At your stage water and protein should be your goal. If you can start getting the protein from food sources. It's not likely your can get too many calories if you follow this plan. Your NUT should be getting a diet plan for you soon, for now don't worry about it. IMHO anyway. Randy

Good job your looking very attractive

That's interesting vanilla Greek yogurt is like a desert to me too.

I did the same thing at your stage and I still measure my portions. Now that I have lost over seventy pounds my protein needs have dropped some and can add a vegetable now and then. With twenty-five pounds to go. @ six months. Meatballs, chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, chopped pork and BBQ sauce, and refried beans.…

After surgery there is a rare thing that can happen called adhesions which are growing tissues in the surgical area. The exact cause is unknown but do have an effect. Think of them like strings or threads pulling on your insides attaching one part to another. As a retired nurse I'm not qualified to diagnose your problem.…

Your doing just what I'm going to do, good job

Thaeda, I have always liked the things you write, and this time is no exception. I believe the same problem is why we all have been on the diet rollercoaster. The lifestyle changes have to become natural as well as choices. Food has been my favorite friend all this time, it never judged me, and always made me feel good.…

Advice here you go, we didn't gain weight as fast as we're trying to loose it. This makes our expectations higher than reasonable in some cases. If we eat less than our bodies need and exercise to maintain and/ or build muscle and don't quit, we have to loose weight. The only unknown is how long it will take. The brain…

Good work it's gotta feel better

My other friends thought I was nuts being excited about being over weight but from morbidly obese trough obese to over weight is great. On to BMI normal :D

You can add me too July 23rd was my surgery date
-
I agree we are here for you Randy

The nurse in me had to chime in here a you are at an age for menopause symptoms to occur. You are also loosening weight stressing your body needs any one or all of these can cause a cessation of meniscus. Low protein and low iron also contribute to the problem. Do talk about this with your Dr. That's what he's/she's there…
