I feel bad for you, son.

Well, if you read the OP's post... Not so much when you weigh yourself a half dozen times, one after the other and vary by a fair amount. That's a bad scale, a scale on a carpet, or a dead battery; not your body gaining and losing spontaneously.
-
I agree, it's a dumb term, and just another fetishization of a (lack of a) body part... However, the term "real men", or its opposite "real women" don't help prevent arbitrary grouping of people.

Comes down to my reading comprehension then :D I thought it sounded like you were confusing the two items, mostly when you mentioned not eating back exercise calories on the MFP plan. (1350*7) - 3000 comes out to a net of 921 per day, which really sounds scary low.
-
It is confusing... At first glance, it would seem like it should be a straight relationship - fewer calories would mean more weight loss. Sounds like common sense, right? Well, common sense is a jerk and a liar :grumble:
-
It sounds to me like you're combining two different approaches in your post (or I'm not reading it clearly); the MFP/NEAT way and the TDEE-X% way. Just wanted to highlight that they're very different. To the OP - read the In place of a roadmap link above for more... MFP gives you a number, then credits you for exercise.…
-
Also: log everything you eat, and be honest with yourself about it. Get a kitchen scale, and use measuring cups and spoons. Learn what 100g of chicken really looks like, etc.
-
You may need to eat more. Have you calculated your BMR and TDEE? I just put your numbers in at http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ and it really seems that you're eating way too little food. Current BMR is 1430 calories - this is the amount you'd need to eat just to keep your organs functioning if you didn't move a…

Nothing says you can't bake white potato fries just the same... Chop into fry-like shapes and sizes, toss in a table of oil, sprinkle salt and pepper (or rosemary or oregano, or whatever...) and bake just like you'd do with sweet potatoes. Works great.…

Weigh whatever you're eating, and log that weight as "Butter, salted" That should get you close.

It's pretty rare in Canada, though I do see it the occasional convenience store here in Toronto. It's not predictable, though. You might be better off finding one of the places that has the big million flavor Coca-Cola fountain setups. That's a pretty decent Cherry Coke Zero.

There's actual science that stands behind aspartame's safety for the vast majority of people who drink it in moderation... and mostly only hoaxes and anecdotes that link it to explosive head cancers, etc. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/are-artificial-sweeteners-safe/

Numbers in, numbers out... I do eat out a fair bit, but I'm getting better at up estimating my numbers in.

If you don't like it, don't force yourself. There are plenty of other salads you can make that don't involve lettuce. Spinach, cabbage, kale, etc...

Have a cookie. Relax.

If only there was a cleanse that worked on people whose excess fat accumulation was in the neo-cortex.. then we might be rid of the Dr. Ozs and the Deepak Choprahs...
-
Your scale is developing intelligence. "Geez, I already told her the weight, and she KEEPS getting back on. Okay, maybe she'll leave me alone if I tell her she looks thinner...."
-
Cleanses like this only have one lasting effect... at it's on your wallet, not your body. More so if it's touted by Dr. Oz.

Seatguru.com tells you the widths of the seats on all the carriers of note. 17.5-18.5" width is pretty typical, if memory serves. If you have an office chair, you can measure how far apart the arms are to get an idea what that seemingly tiny number really means.

Even crappy pubs and diners can have livable options. No gravy, no cream soups, no sauces, or, at least get them all on the side so you can see how much there is. Nuts, noodles, croutons, sauces can be calorie landmines when they're part of an otherwise decent meal option. Key phrases; "Dressing on the side" "No mayo" "Can…

I'm in Toronto, but have lived in Halifax, Vancouver, and Edmonton, Calgary, and Red Deer in the last couple decades.

I weigh in once or twice a day most days. I don't obsess about the numbers, but I only bother updating MFP if the number goes down. If it clicks up .1 of a pound, it's as likely to be my poor quality digital scale at fault, so I check again the next day. It's like watching long term investments - panicking over numbers…

Sometimes, when one has macros set saying 150gm of protein, and 1900 calories to do it it, a couple egg whites can help make that difference. That may not be what the OP was talking about, but that's my situation, and I sometimes run out of calorie room all too fast before hitting my protein, and egg whites are a good way…

Yes, but she wasn't talking about religion - you're the one who went there. I'm an atheist too, but I pick my battles, and this isn't a battle.

Well, when you phrase it like THAT, it becomes a divisive topic...

My wife lost about 25lbs without actually trying too thanks to a very rough pregnancy. About a month ago, she was feeding the dog, and she noticed that this heavy, unwieldy bag of hound chow was a 10kg bag... roughly the same amount of weight she'd dropped. Perspective is interesting.

Where does this "breakfast should be your largest meal of the day" thing come from?

#4 was processed soy, claiming it's a 'marketing gimmick used to dumb down consumers' On #3, they didn't seem to mean "high carb" to mean "has plenty of carbs" - it's like they were using "high" and "low" to refer to "simple" and "complex" carbs. I watched that insanely overlong video to see what they were selling. They're…
