I'm 43, most people seem to think I'm younger though. As far as weight loss, it's definitely possible to do at this age. It might be harder, but I never wanted to use age as an excuse. I gained weight from eating too much and lose weight when I watch my eating. It's way more about that for me than my age. Would like to add…

Roxy - usually the machines at the gym show a higher calorie burn than my Polar or Gamin heart rate monitors. I'm not sure why. Regardless, you're doing great!

This is true. You have to forgive them and move on. If you don't, you are the only one suffering as you replay this in your head over and over. It's not easy and it's not fair that they didn't treat you better, but it is a part of life. We all have to deal with the shortcomings of others as no one is perfect. Try to…

Hi Sandy, I'm new too, so I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm hoping if I stick with the food recommendations I'll see results. Only time will tell, but I think it should work. I'll send a friend request and we can help cheer each other on! Susan

Everyone has bad days, but I've heard that upping calories every once in a while can be good, perhaps if you are having a stall or something. I'm sure there is some scientific research on this and I may not be getting it right, but just keep going and you'll do great!

I'm new and I have the same problem where I'm under for the total calories, but can't figure out what to eat to reach the recommended total categories. I wish there was a way to plug in the desired carbs/fat, etc. and get food options. I guess it's just going to take practice though. Good luck!

Hi, I'm 43 and the year I turned forty, I lost about 50 lbs with another 20 or so the following year. Then I met my husband and my patterns /habits changed a little and over time I gained a lot of the weight back. (I'm not blaming him, it was my decisions that put the weight back on). I'm getting serious again and hope to…

Hi Hayley, I think that many of us, at times, have compared other people's "outside persona" to ourselves, but we have to realize that everyone has struggles and what you see from someone else may not reflect their struggles and challenges because it's just their outside face. So it's kind of like comparing apples and…

Hi Robin and everyone else, I joined MFP today, but am not new to the loss/gain cycle. I'm not sure how all of this works yet, but would like to have some fitness pals, so I'll try to add anyone who is interested! In the past, I've lost weight by just adjusting my food intake based on my knowledge of healthy eating and…
