Nope. Nope. Nope. Crazy people (even if they don't want to hurt me, they will make me a jumpy mess)! Tripping hazards! Cars! Skunks!!!!! Don't do it. (voice of experience)

Lady! What! How did you even have time for this post!? Firstly, you can lose the weight without exercise. You just need to eat less. It sounds like your daily routine is very stressful. Exercise does have some stress-releiving qualities but when you first start out it creates mores stress because your body and brain have…

From the information you've given, for your weight and lifestyle 60-80g of protein/day should be adequate (based on the official recommendations). Since you're eating a calorie deficit for weight loss, your strength training goals should be muscle retention (and feeling badass), not gaining muscle or significant strength.…

One of my favorites is hummus and tomato slices with salt and pepper. I also second avocado slices (I usually add salsa).

I drink craft beers pretty much every night. As long as you can fit in the calories, it's fine. I have to shelve the triples, though. They're tasty but some of them have enough calories for a whole meal and at 1340 calories/day I would have to sacrifice nutrition to fit them in.

As long as you're getting the essential amino acids and fatty acids you need it is perfectly fine for the rest of your calories to come from carbs. As long as you eat enough calories and don't have a very restrictive diet, it is very difficult to be deficient in protein or fat.

Your body only needs so much protein, and you also can only process a certain amount at a time. Protien should not be your primary energy source. Even high protein diets keep the protein in equal proportion to fat at least. Look up a phenomenon called rabbit starvation.

The bad news is that your basal metabolic rate is determined by factors that are not under your control. The good news is that you can control how much you eat and how much you move.

From an ethical perspective, if an animal product is used to produce the food then the food is not vegan. It's not just sugar, either. Another example is wines and beers filtered using isinglass. There are also plant products whose production for human consumption adversely affects the lives of animals, like palm oil.…

There's nothing older school than kettlebells, actually. They've been a part of strength training basically since it's inception. I think the kettlebell only video workouts and weird new kettlebell movements and itty bitty brightly colored 5lb kettle bells at target are just a trend. However, kettlebell swings and snatches…

@gia07 I added a lot to that post for clarification. I mean, yes, it depends on a lot of things. Bottom line, though, saying "no" is fine but it's not a sustainable thing to say "no" all the time, to everyone, for any extended period of time. If you have very restrictive dietary goals (like me being an ethical vegan, or…

All social occasions are special. It is better to work them into your goals than pretend like they're not important.

I think it's more about the intent than the food. I'll give some real life examples of situations I would accept the food: -My 5 year old offers me a candy from her christmas stash because sharing is caring. -A co-worker brings in food to share for a special occasion. -A parent at a play date offers lunch or a snack. -A…

I don't know about the OP but for me, personally, I really don't care what people think of me but I DO care about how I make people feel and it makes people feel good and happy to be generous with their food. Food is often socially significant so, for me, that sort of social reciprocity is a part of eating healthfully even…

Yes. You lose weight when you eat less calories than you use. However, eating out can be problematic in a couple of ways. Firstly, it is very difficult to know how many calories you're consuming when you eat out. Even at restaurants that have calorie counts on their menus, the meals are generally not prepared the exact…

Don't forget that most foods contain high amounts of water and are hydrating, too. Not only fresh fruits and veggies, but also foods that absorb water while they cook like beans and rice and oatmeal. The only liquid that doesn't count is alcohol. As long as you don't have medical issues, if you drink when you're thirsty…

I eat a lot of tofu, but I'm a lazy person and my cooking is very fuss-free. I like to cut it into cubes and put it in vegetable soups, or cut it in cubes and roast it with root vegetables and brussels sprouts, or cut it into cubes and eat it with pasta and red sauce. Sometimes if I feel fancy I'll cut it into triangles…

Eat a caloric deficit and do resistance training to make sure your body retains muscle mass as you lose weight. You can achieve a caloric deficit by either decreasing the amount of food you eat, increasing the amount of calories you burn in cardiovascular exercise, or (preferably) both. In my personal opinion, p90x…

This might be an unpopular opinion but I'm not comfortable refusing people's generosity either and I don't think that's a bad thing. I would just accept the treats, enjoy the smallest amount possible, and make sure to record the calories. :) ETA: Unless it's a family member or a close friend who knows what you're trying to…

The slower the weight comes off, the healthier and more sustainable it will be. Why the deadline?

Apples are not low in fiber, nor are they low in insoluble fiber in particular. No random article screencaps are going to change that.

Are your bathroom trips uncomfortable or difficult? If they're not then I wouldn't worry about it.

Most of my meals are 300-400 calories and have the basic structure of Grain/Starch + Legume + Veggie + Nuts/Avocado/Oil. Lentils and rice with kale; roasted tofu and root veggies with brussels sprouts; pasta and beans with frozen veggies, salsa and guacamole; peanut soup with eggplant and flour tortillas; potatoes with…

I know a lot of people with fitbits, and it's completely normal for them to walk around their houses in circles at the end of the day to meet their step goals! They post about it on Facebook, we all understand the struggle lol. I second the recommendation to do yard work and housework to get exercise. Also, walking is a…

What do you mean by "going way over?" As long as you are getting the essential amino and fatty acids you need, filling up the rest of your macros with carbs is completely fine! The "carbs are bad" myth is dying just as hard as the "fat is bad" myth, I'm afraid.

What about this meal is different from your usual diet? Is this the only meal you eat gluten-free pasta with? Check the ingredients on the gluten free pasta, sometimes there's some crazy stuff in "gluten-free" foods.

Yep. It sounds like you have normal, healthy, functioning breasts. You just need some time to adjust and learn to appreciate them in their new post-weightloss state. Motorboating is a pretty great breast appreciation exercise. As far as slippage out of your bra, maybe consider switching to a new style of bra? Now that…

How myopic. When you're only talking a percent or two either way, no BF% isn't really a great way to track progress. When you get down to a certain BF%, it becomes easier to track your progress by how you feel because you're close to your goal. This is a sort of "fine tuning" mode and BF% isn't accurate enough (nor does it…
