I did Warrior Dash and Rugged Maniac last year, and did Tough Mudder this year. I am signed up for Warrior Dash AZ again next month. Like people have said, you don't have to be an elite athlete to enjoy Warrior Dash. You will feel more prepared if you can at least run a 5k comfortably and have enough upper body strength to…

Quick question: I assume the water and coconut milk is measured in fluid oz, but are the lentils and mirepoix in fluid oz also (as in 1 cup of each) or dry weight (as in half a pound of each)? I'm just thrown off because some ingredients are listed in cups while the others are in oz.

"Better choice" food costs more money because it costs more to produce. It's the reason processed foods exist in the first place.

Excellent. Also check out Art of Strength. They have made in USA kettlebells, and some very good work-along DVDs. "Providence" is a good DVD to start with. I've been doing it for a long time and it still smokes me.

Don't make fun of his belt, it's got a hell of a job to do!

Sick as a dog. And still just ran an 8k trail run. Kinda cleared me up a bit, but my nose is running like crazy now.

Like everyone has said, run slower until you don't get out of breath. If you have to slow to a walk sometimes to catch your breath before continuing, that's OK too. Eventually you will be walking less and less. All runs feel worse at the beginning, but once you push through that and warm up and get your stride, it gets…

I had a little tenderness in that area when I started upping my minimal shoe running distance. It went away fairly quickly, it that's what you are experiencing.

She's a crunt. I think she would have gotten a couple votes if she wasn't immune tonight. The red team is half drama queens and crybabies. I think the black team is where it's at. Oh and I miss Anna. She's the main reason I started watching this show last season. She's tasty. OK, Alison is too. ;)

Just walked in the door from 3 miles at 8:30 per mile. Lately I've been doing 2 miles at about 7:40 per mile.

I would agree with this. I experienced the same thing at first. That eventually went away. Now my weak spot is my hip flexors. They get really sore because now I can run farther!

OK soda dissolves chicken breasts and pennies. Also ketchup cleans copper pans very nicely, vinegar cleans hard water deposits off your shower heads, and orange oil is used a hand cleaner and paint stripper. So what? These things are mildy acidic. Simple chemistry, nothing ominous, still food.

I run in New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail shoes. I like them a lot. If you want to try a sandal, try Invisible Shoes. They are really portable.

Garmin makes lots of GPS watches that do just that. I have a Garmin 310XT. Gives you more information than you will ever need. Time, speed, pace, distance, heart rate, calories burned, etc...

And thanks guys, now I have to get a 6-pack of McNuggets with hot mustard to go with my Big Mac and large fries tonight. Dammit.

Most food will not decay sitting in a dry, insect-free environment like a counter or in a lab. It just dries out. That's why your bread gets moldy in the bag, but if you leave a slice on the counter it just turns into a crouton. Not a valid test of anything

Yeah, but I dream big. I shop for airplanes. :)

We throw a lot out too and it bugs me. Sometimes it's unavoidable, especially with produce. We belong to a produce co-op and get a big basket of produce every other week. It's so much that we can't possibly eat it all before it goes bad, but even if we throw half of it away it's cheaper than if we bought it at the grocery…

+1 for Art of Strength. They also make top quality US-made kettlebells. Dragon Door is another source of good kettlebells as well as books and videos from the original Russian who helped popularize them in the US: Pavel Tsatsouline. As Trail Addict said, I probably wouldn't want one with a rubber coating either. And some…

Brooke, I will say the electric obstacle was cruel and it hurt. But it won't kill you, and if you really are electrophobic you can always skip it. That being said, it was still pretty funny to go through.

I also did the Tough Mudder AZ event 2 weeks ago. Good times and quite challenging.
-
I eat it with a spoon right out of the container. Yum! But I guess you either like it or you don't.

You might like the cookbook "Manifold Destiny". It's all recipes you can cook on your car's engine during trips of various lengths. Pretty cool!

And posts about TOM never EVER involve a guy named Tom! For the love of all that is holy, run away from those! ;)

I think if you are diplomatic and express it as genuine concern and not criticism, you might be OK. However the person should legitimately be to a point where his/her health is at stake. If you bring it up because of a bit of a beer gut or muffin top, he/she might get offended.

Do them in roller skates for about a week, then go back to doing them with regular shoes on. You'll love them then. ;)

Kettlebells. Concept 2 rowing machine. Assisted pull-up/dip machine.
-
I don't. My home workout room includes various kettlebells with Art of Strength kettlebell DVDs, a set of dumbbells, an old cheap weight bench with weights, an assisted pull-up/dip machine, an elliptical machine, and a Concept 2 rower. When I can get out of the house to work out I either trail run at a nearby mountain park…

Small bag or family-size bag? Hahaha

One of the lovely aspects of working out at home or outdoors. No crowds! I don't miss that. The only time I really liked the gym is when I was on night shift and would go at like 11pm or so on my days off.
