+1 And I'll add that most of my MFP friends are my friends, family & co-workers in real life. They know if I am being honest about a meal because they watched me eat it! For me, having some people I trust checking in on me gives me the accountability I want without unwanted feedback from strangers who don't know my goals…

A lot depends on how much you have to lose. Back in my yo-yo dieting days, I could pretty much count on the fact that people would start to notice at around 15 pounds lost. But unfortunately, a messed up metabolism & two babies later, I am starting about 40 pounds heavier than my former "crash diet now" number. I can…

Your body burns about 20 calories for each ounce of breast milk you make. A two month old should be drinking around 25 ounces of breast milk per day (give or take - every baby is different). If you do decide to keep nursing, be sure that you are eating enough calories to keep your supply up - it's the same idea of eating…

I agree with a PP - the key on a cruise is to stay active! The last week-long cruise I took I actually lost weight even though I ate everything I wanted, but I stayed super-active - took the stairs instead of the elevator, walked around the decks, lots of dancing!!!

Hi Everyone - Can I join you?? My name is Angie & I just found out last week that I am pregnant! I am so happy - my main motivation for losing weight was to increase my chances of conception & have a healthy pregnancy, so I am thrilled that my #1 goal has been accomplished! A little about my weight issues - I've always…

I haven't found any Greek yogurt that is even as close to as good as Fage (and I think I've tried 'em all). Totally worth a few cents extra!

I'll be praying for you! We are TTC baby #2 - that is the #1 reason why I joined MFP. Friend me if you'd like - we can go on this journey together! Baby dust to both of us!

Didn't want to scare you off - this poster meant 60 SECOND walk, 90 SECOND run intervals :)

The whole recipe is 130 calories - right around 1 1/2 cups. I used Silk Vanilla Almond Milk, if that makes a difference.

Giving the fact that you are pretty close to a healthy weight (if not there already - I don't know how tall you are), I don't think that it is reasonable to set your goals to lose 2 pounds a week. The closer you are to your goal weight, the slower it comes off. I would go back into MFP and reset your goals to 1 pound a…

I also looked at your food diary - there are quite a few days that you don't have recorded, but I did notice that on days when you did record, you were a good bit over the 1000-1200 calorie goal. I agree that 1000 is too low, but if you can net between 1200-1400 (including your exercise calories) that should put you on the…

I am not putting too much stock in that quiz - it was not designed very well. For instance, they asked "Have you recently quit smoking?" with yes or no as a choice. So that means that someone like me who has NEVER smoked would click no, but someone who was still smoking 3 packs a day would also click no. Fail. I agree with…

Karma, I just wanted to throw another factor into the mix here. Just some food for thought... I looked at the goals you have posted in your sig. I am not sure when you started this process, but it says you joined MFP in January 2010, so I am going to assume you started at the very beginning of the year. In order to get to…

I get my steel cut oats (McCann's) at WalMart. They are in the cereal aisle on the top shelf - next to wheat germ. This is becoming a very popular item - I can't imagine that there is any major grocery store that doesn't carry it. You just might have to look a few different places in the store to find it.

You guys are awesome - I am totally trying the spinach in the smoothie idea! I normally have Kashi Honey & Cinnamon oatmeal with coffee & skim milk.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback! To answer some of the questions posed: yes, I drink plenty of water & eat good fats. And I thought I explained this in the original post, but I guess not - it would be IMPOSSIBLE for me to lower my calories yet stay above 1200 - that's where I'm at right now, and most days I am…

Banks, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all your hard work in getting good, quality information out there to us! I don't post that frequently, but I read the forums all the time, and I have referred many of my friends & family to your threads - they don't post either, but the info you've given us has helped SO…

MFP members can input items - that's why you always have to double check calories. The boiled egg should be 70 calories. Sounds like you found somebody's personal definition of boiled egg, probably slathered with butter!!!

No offense to any previous poster, but to me, the true test of whether a diet works is NOT if you are losing weight while you are on the program. It is whether the weight remains off a year or more after the program ends. I used to get really excited when people talked about the great results they had with this diet, or…

Congratulations! One of the main reasons I am on MFP is to get pregnant, so I hope to be joining you soon! I agree with the previous poster - keep your calorie count at its current level for the first trimester, and then add 300 for the 2nd & 3rd. But be sure you are taking a prenatal vitamin & fish oil capsule. Focus on…

I did it a while back - just before my wedding. I lost inches, but it was mostly water weight. Still, it helped me fit into my wedding dress. So I would say it works if you need a quick fix, but it is not real, lasting weight loss.

argburr, the calorie deficit is BUILT IN to the daily calories MFP gives you. You SHOULD eat your exercise calories (at least most of them) to keep your metabolism humming. To the OP, read the threads that are posted in the stickies at the top of the the General Diet & Weight Loss forum. There are good, clear explanations…
