  • HA. True, dat.
  • I'm a big fan of walking! And you can try the Couch to 5k program too, and get running! I love the Winsor pilates dvds too, but you'll need more cardio with that. I don't go to the gym either. Partially for financial reasons, and partially because I don't want to deal with crowds/ think life is too short to be closed up…
  • Yes, it's water weight from salty restaurant food. Even the healthy options pack on the salt! Drink extra water for the next few days and you'll be fine. I'm dealing with the same thing right now, following the holiday weekend. Good luck!
  • A touch of vinegar makes up for a lack of salt pretty well (to my palette at least).
  • Clearer skin! I think it's from upping the water intake.
  • Wow, awesome! Isn't it amazing how much it helps just being accountable to yourself?
  • I fit into capris I haven't worn in over a year!

  • Have you tried club soda? I find most of the time I just want the bubbles. You can jazz it up with cucumber, lime, or strawberries, etc. if you like. It's working for me.
  • I actually lost weight on a trip to Disney. So much walking!!!
  • Seriously. At the very least. Do it for us. Hahaha, nah, you're probably fine.
  • You're doing an awesome job! And good on you for noting when your weight loss has been due to stress... When I was at my thinnest, I was also out of my mind with depression. I have to keep reminding myself that I might not get to that size again, and doing this the right way is the only way. I will be stronger when I reach…
  • Wonderful. Big thanks to all of you for your suggestions. It really is guesswork, and I suppose no matter what technique I use, there is no way to know for sure how accurate it is. The bottom line is that I am burning the calories, whether I know exactly how many they are or not. Have fun and keep cycling!
  • Nah, I'm low budget over here and, as I said, more of a recreational biker. I have a very short commute, but I do ride daily.
  • Thanks, folks. I'm not resistant to a heart rate monitor, per se, I just don't have one and don't imagine I'll be able to purchase one terribly soon. And since these things are all different forms of estimation anyway, it's not a top priority of mine. Thanks for that, KinoM, I had been looking around for something…
  • You should be fine if you stay in your calories. You'll still lose. There are a lot of people who eat a high fat/ high protein diet and still lose. Eat what you like and make sure you are getting all the nutrients your body needs, and you'll be fine.
  • Yeah, the only way to build up is to just keep getting out there and doing it. I run, and I've been going sssllllloooowwwwwww in the heat and humidity. The problem with humidity is that your sweat doesn't evaporate as quickly and you don't cool off as efficiently. I second moisture wicking fabric. Just take it slow and…
  • Some are good. Maybe your doc can refer you to one, or to a physical therapist. A PT really helped me out with a nerve problem in my arm/ shoulder with a combination of exercises and traction. Editing to add: traction probably won't be a long term fix if you don't strengthen the surrounding muscles too. Also, that alphabet…
  • Buy a whole chicken and roast it at the beginning of the week and use the meat all week. Or cut it into parts and freeze it to use as you go. Soooo much cheaper! I like nuts on my salad. Or pinto beans!
  • I'm super happy with it! Cramps have been more painful, but have lessened since the first couple months. My period is also heavier, but I use a menstrual cup anyway, so that hasn't been a problem. Something to look into, if you aren't currently using one. I would practice with it prior to the IUD insertion if at all…
  • I went on the pill (10+?) years ago, originally as a way to deal with severe acne primarily. In December of last year, I went off (and switched to a copper IUD). I was very concerned about breaking out all over again. Fortunately, I hadn't read about possible hair loss, or I would have been freaking out about that too! The…
  • I love this one! All those days when I cave to a little something I shouldn't or go a little over on my calories, this is exactly what I need to be telling myself to nip it in the bud right there.
  • "This will get easier as I keep doing it." "If I keep this up, I'll never have to start over again."
  • It could totally be hormonal fluctuations if you are going through all that. Try not to stress out. Drink lots of water.
  • Hey, my advice is to keep eating all the foods you like, just in smaller portions. In order for this to work, it needs to be a life overhaul, not a temporary diet. I slipped up over the 4th of July weekend and got back into some bad snacking habits, but now that the weekend is over, I'm falling back into my new "regular…
  • And I totally get this ^^. I've been leaning heavily on my dvds this summer, and cut wayyyy down on my running.

  • I love it. It's helped with my back pain, lifted my butt, and helped me lean out through my torso and thighs. I've been going back to the Mari Winsor dvds for years. I really miss it (and feel it!) when I'm not doing it regularly.

  • I also want to add that I haven't been pushing myself in the heat. I have no expectations of myself other than to get out there and run for 2 or 3 miles. I'm not pushing my distance or speed. This has helped me stay motivated in the heat, too. I don't feel like every workout has to be my hardest workout. The result is that…
