A few recommendations to survive running: Don't call a 5k a marathon, a marathon is 26.2 miles, not 3.1 Don't run to rub anything in anyone's face, especially someone who invited you to run, runners are nice people who encourage others and run for themselves. Be consistent in your training and enjoy it!

All liquid counts, soda is often diuretic (makes you pee more) and I've heard some people count only half its volume (same with coffee or tea). However, all the other stuff in there isn't that great for you, I recommend you try to go with water as much as possible.

Hi All, I'm seriously considering switching from eating back exercise calories to TDEE-%, I always eat more on the weekends because of long workouts, and my scale tends to go down btw monday and thursday, then shoot back up on the weekends. I am frustrated. Other than that, all is well, just another "starting fresh" monday…

Marla: Enjoy Canada! Work or play? Pam: Way to go on the cardio! (And I love your new pic!) Liz: It's got BF% and water on it, I just got a basic one, but it's a great little tool. I was in the "overfat" category rather than "obese", so that was a positive moment for me. My son also found he can make it beep, which of…

Morning All! I got my TANITA scale in the mail!!! I'm excited that apparently BF% is only in the (+) range, and not the (++) range, but I've still got a ways to go. It's a funny thing to all of a sudden have more information available, this means no more weighing in the morning so that I'm not weighing water weight! It was…

Kohls has been great for me for work pants. Gap for jeans, you've gotta go through a few styles, but usually they've got a good one. Haven't tried jeans at kohls. My question is shorts/capris for legs that are looking nice but not ready for booty shorts!

bump! Me too, don't get it! Desk job, half marathon training (only 1 really long run per wk, 2 short, 1-2 XT days)

Her reasoning is correct, you do lose WEIGHT slower (Although you lose FAT at the same speed or faster!). Her CONCLUSION is ridiculous. Unfortunately, medical professionals these days are often not up-to-date on fitness and prevention health, as they are focused only on identifying existing medical conditions and treating…

They are effective in losing water. Boxers use them to dehydrate before a weigh-in and then promptly rehydrate so that they can fight in lower weight classes.

What muscle is that?!? I've had the same issues every once in a while, and I'd love to work on it.

3rd time I've seen someone start a new thread on this. Do a search on MFP, there are some good ones!

I get what you're saying, and honestly, her whining will actually highlight your toughness! Hubby will notice, even if others don't, and will be thanking his lucky stars that he got the cool tough chick! Some people are like that, and it's kinda fun to throw out things like "I'm so glad everyone's getting tough together"…

bump, ideas look amazing!

Even on my earliest, most pitiful workouts, I reminded myself that each time I decided to actually do my workout, I was becoming the person I wanted to be. The NSVs will come later, and I bet you'll see little victories sooner than you think!

Just by using the steel'cut ones, you'll get rid of the "'paste" texture. Any kind of fruit, spice etc. will get you flavor. If you're not into oatmeal the way its usually prepared in the US, here's a different idea: In Ecuador they make it with juicier fruits cooked down as the liquid (lulo/naranjilla, I haven't seen it…

I'm still working on that! But I seriously need to up my veggie intake on the weekend, for fiber more than anything! My husband and I do all our errands, and at least one fun "outing" on each weekend, so we're still working on taking healthy snacks etc.. My goal this weekend is to try to make my meals look more like my…

Coke doesn't have fat. it has sugar

Good morning from California! I did not make it to the gym, HOWEVER, I found the time to get in an Insanity video, which was terrific. I'm really trying to switch up the cross-training days, and it seems to be helping. My goal is to feel good in less clothes in Miami in June, so May is key! Enjoy your day, and start the…

Still deciding: Topping the general consensus list are She-Ra, Wonder Woman and an 80's aerobics queen (a la Jane Fonda), I'm still not sure, as I don't expect to even be within 20 lbs of goal weight then I want to be sure it's something that I feel fun in rather than self-conscious.

I would be doubled over in pain if I did this! Can you imagine!

I did my first in March and am doing number 2 in July: Costume half in San Diego!
-
Welcome! I've recently made it to the 199 and under club too, isn't it great?
-
It's ok not to count, and since it sounds like exercise is a positive thing in your life right now, maybe keep most of your goals in that sphere. You said you like running, road races are GREAT and very positive (costume runs, color runs, etc. add fun!), and most people aren't running to beat anyone, they're running to…

I'm neither for nor against. I'm gluten-free about 90% of the time, and when I do have wheat, I usually feel pretty bloated soon after. I didn't, however, automatically lose weight going gluten free. This diet may be right for you, but just a word of warning: while it will automatically help you cut "junk" out of your…

I totally forgot about rings! I've been struggling to get mine on an off since about halfway through pregnancy (mind you, I gave birth over a year ago!) Just tried to take mine off, and it worked! Still snug, but no soap needed (seriously, I needed soap!). I was a healthy weight when I got married, so I don't expect the…

<< This is the little monkey that keeps me motivated! I'd like to keep up with him as he keeps getting faster and stronger. I hope to get to the point where I can say "I've lost what Sam weighs!" Also, the anonymous blue head was getting old.

Thanks! I've been looking for a realistic lag-time number!

New Bra-hook day! Second, and fairly new bra, so not just stretched out. These are the NSVs I celebrate whole-heartedly when the scale isn't exactly moving at the pace I'd like.

Individual greek yogurt added to any of the suggestions, I have one every day!
