Seems to me that Mark Sisson's use of primal refers to occasional use of small amounts of dairy products like butter and some cheese but otherwise I don't believe there is a whole lot of difference. Some people prefer to use the terms primal or ancestral diet to Paleo because of the neanderthal caveman image that Paleo…

I've worked night shift for years and years ---When my kids were small it was much harder because they had to be ferried here and there and my sleep was a lot more sporadic. I usually have very little trouble sleeping now except for the really hot days in summer. One thing I might invest in this summer is a window…

I know from my work with pregnant women in Labor and Delivery that a majority of Asian women have type B blood. As for the rest of the population I'm not so sure that I see a pattern.

I've seen videos on TV showing hunter gatherers collecting honey -- they didn't care about the bee stings and they were adept at shimmying up the tree to get at the honey and they used smoking embers in gourds to sedate the bees. However they didn't eat honey every day -- only when they found a bee colony so I think that…

I've been doing crossfit for about 2 years now and really love it but you have to be careful --- not all coaches are really well trained so you should look for a coach that has had extensive training in general fitness besides crossfit. Some crossfit coaches get certified with a weekend certification course and I think…

Much less gassy and about 3 times / week. I don't feel constipated, I just don't go as much. :-)

I buy pig or lamb hearts whenever I can and slice them up and cook them with onion and portobello mushrooms. I cut the mushrooms into rough chunks rather than neat slices. Sometimes I add a bit of red wine to the mix (not strictly paleo I suppose). The meat is very chewy but really delicious. I love liver sliced thin and…

I experimented with making pemmican using rendered lamb fat, shredded homemade beef jerky, and dried cherries - I liked the result but my husband wasn't so keen -- here are some protein bar sites that I found but I haven't tried any of the recipes yet -- a simple google search for home made paleo protein bars revealed lots…

I love and recommend Paleo Comfort Foods and have made many recipes over and over again from that book - my husband's favorite is Farmers Pie and I have to be careful not to make it too often or he will get tired of it although he doesn't think he will but I know him. I've also made a Thai green curry dish from the book…

I would say not to worry about your cholesterol and worry more about keeping your trigliceride levels low. Remember too that if you were a high carb eater and had any kind of fatty liver disease as a result -- you might be losing fat from your liver which will temporarily increase your cholesterol level.

Hi there-- I'm new to MFP.com but I support your idea of trying a high fat low carb approach. I've been reading blogs by Greg Ellis MD and various other articles and am convinced that it is the right approach. I believe however that one needs to still keep calories under control -- but this approach has been the most…
