  • Same here. I lost weight nicely, at the rate of 2-3 LB a week for the first three weeks and then bump - a weight plateau for several weeks with some small fluctuations up and down. Mostly up. It was a great disappointment, but I decided to stick to my original intake goal, with a few glitches, I admit. Eventually, in the…
  • Trying to switch to a healthier lifestyle is a great idea and this web site and community is a great source for support for such a change. Even a small reduction in your calorie intake and increase in your physical activity is good. However, I am sorry to say that if you are trying to reach a health weight the odds are…
  • For me it is next to impossible to meet the sugar goal set by MFP and I tend to believe that it is too conservative. As long as the sugar in my diet originated from sources such as fruits and vegetables and my total carbs is ok, I am satisfied. I am only trying to avoid consumption of products with artificially added sugar.
  • I am in for the 60 mile jogging too. Metric system so 97km. 11.5 km done already.

  • To the same extent that hypertension or diabetes type 2 is a life choice! Similarly to obesity you can mitigate and sometimes even eliminate the symptoms of these conditions by adapting healthier lifestyle but the tendency to develop them is certainly not a choice.
  • Read the book "The will Power Instinct" by Kelly McGonigal (or listen to the audio book version) For me it was a life changer.
  • Did you redefined your daily calories goal after losing 18 pounds? Your thinner body consumes less energy now and your calories goal should be lower.
  • 1) to stick with the c25k program that I started last week. 2) to be able to do 20 push ups in a row (currently I can do 17)
  • In any case, DON'T give up. Bear in mind that if at your current level of activity / nutrition you are not losing weight, once you give up watching yourself you will gain weight speedy quick. Try to look on any month in which you maintain your weight as a success. Don't bother yourself with changes of few lbs up or down.…
  • The "Sugars" targets seems impossible to meet. I almost never eat food with added sugar and still I gain too much sugar from several fruits and lean diary products a day. As to exceeding the target values of dietary fiber, proteins and even fat don't bother as long as you meet the calories goal.
  • Yes, this is really frustrating. I am typically 2-4 LB heavier at the evening. Also the normal random daily fluctuations (even when comparing the same time of the day) are larger than my weekly weight loss goal of 1 LB/week. I wish I could weigh myself once a month, but I can't help it :-)
