  • I track what I eat on here, but I don't get upset if I am over or under. I know approximately what I need daily, and I can up it a little bit if I am very active. To say I track calories... not so much. I track what I eat, and make sure I don't overeat. I do however think about things like this... If I want Taco Bell…
  • My enemy is humidity. It was so bad I had to quit a previous gym because they had 2 pools and I felt like I was suffocating. I get allergy shots, but I'm also asthmatic. The allergies obviously make the asthma worse. I have Symbicort for days where I know my Ventolin is not going to be cutting it. My doctor suggested to go…
  • OP: I can tell you I take a B-complex and that certainly helps with my metabolism and alertness. I work 80 hours a week so I need all the help I can get. I have had iron deficiency anemia since I was a child... it's genetic and my mother has it. I also take iron supplements. I had bloodwork drawn last year and it…
  • TONS of water. It can't hurt to bring some candies to keep your blood sugar up. You're going to be out there for 4 days. in the heat. with tons of other people. You might not exactly get back to your tent when you want to, or get to buy food, or bring as much along with you as you'd like.
  • Oh you hit a spot with me. I'm a nerd. Pretty much, sodium is an electrolyte. 3 main electrolytes of your body: Sodium (Na+), Chloride (Cl-), and Potassium (K+). Sodium and Chloride counteract each other to make a base... which is why one of the most common IV fluids in medicine is Sodium Chloride (same thing with eye…
  • I didn't read the above responses. Do you have a farmer's market, or something like it near you? We have a store here called Top Tomato, and it's a chain in the NY/NJ area. Their fruits and veggies usually cost 1/2 or LESS of what the grocery store charges. And if you find a local grown farmer's market, it's even cheaper.…
  • Here's a tip. I take salad dressings, usually the lite options... and I water them down into another bottle. I LOVE Ken's lite caesar dressing, but it's still high in calories. So I dilute it 50/50 with water into a separate bottle and it's actually a better taste to me. :) It's not too heavy and it gives me that taste…
  • DO NOT DO 30 DAY SHRED! They are NOT low impact! I fractured my tibia doing just level one, and I am 185lbs with no history of a leg injury. Stick to simple cardio like walking or going out on a bike. In AZ, go on walks at dusk or dawn when it isn't too hot yet. I also will agree with water aerobics. Very little resistance…
  • My full time job is 8pm-8am and my part time job is varied daytime hours. I ALWAYS eat a big meal before I go into work to hold over cravings. Usually around 1-2am I eat a snack, like yogurt or veggies and dip. It's not wrong... it's right to be hungry like that. I've been doing overnights for 8 years now between different…
  • I only feel horrible on days where I cave in and eat garbage food or have alcohol/beer. I know it's empty calories and i hate myself for it, but sometimes I just NEED it or I'm going to give up completely. I'm not active right now at all because I'm out of work on disability for a leg fracture. Me not being on my feet 80…
  • Good idea to the both of you! I do have some, so I suppose I can do that while watching TV, lol. Won't it look weird if my upper body is much stronger than my lower?
  • LMFAO! My *kitten* is already huge, so I'm sure nobody would even notice hahaha!
  • PT is not recommended for now... just staying off of it. I have no idea how I'm going to pay my bills, I now have to cancel my vacation June 16th, and I can't even go to class to take my final exams. The game of waiting 3 weeks to get a check from disability when I might only be out for 4-5 weeks is slightly ridiculous to…
  • Mine isn't to the point of surgery YET, which is why I really have to take it easy. He has me on crutches/out of work for a week, and then a lateral unloading brace after that. He said if the pain comes back he is going to just continue to keep me out of work. He did not recommend PT for now... never even mentioned it. How…
  • I can't do anything, lol. I just went for an MRI and I have a possible meniscus tear from this damn DVD. My body just can't handle it and I'm not willing to risk anything further for the sake of quick weight loss. Slow and steady this time around!
  • With my injury, it's EXTREME and DEBILITATING pain when I have to do any sort of stretching out of my leg. Going down the stairs, cycling, etc. They labeled it a lower meniscus tear, which may be different than a medial (medial is more inner whereas this is more lateral/lower). My mom gave me her brace from her meniscus…
  • So I suppose I can at least do upper and do some walking on the treadmill? I didn't want to even go on the 2 mile walk I do with my dog because I was scared to hurt it... but at this point, I guess it doesn't matter if I'm going for an MRI shortly anyway. :\
  • No, it is not sciatic pain. The pain is localized to the outside of my right knee, which is the meniscus area. Sciatic pain runs through the sciatic nerve that goes straight down the middle of your thigh and through your knee. That I do get with my back injury, but it's 2 completely different types of pains and inabilities…
  • Sorry I bummed you out! :( I had no idea it was going to be so intense on the knees, nor did I have any issues prior to the actual hurt of when it happened. I just assumed I was sore like everybody else in the beginning! Once I am healed, I will stick with my gym routines and dog walking. No more crazy workout DVD's!
  • I second going to a running store and getting fitted! I have a very good friend who is a runner with one foot that has a decent arch, and the other foot is flat. As you can imagine, that's pretty difficult to manage! She said they fitted her wonderfully! The first time she went back after 2 weeks and they let her exchange…
  • I figured I'd post again here. I went to an ortho specialist localized in the knee/leg. X-rays are clear, but where my pain is localized... they are pretty sure it's a partial or full tear in my lower meniscus. I'm waiting to get approved for an MRI. From there it's PT or surgery. GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! This guy is good too.…
  • I'm just going off of what my doctor told me, who manipulated my leg. It's not getting any better and it's 2 days later, but I also haven't been able to get a film taken since the imaging office is only open while I work.
  • Yeah I was okay with the awful burning/unable-to-move pain... but when I almost fell down the stairs was when I had to call it quits. My doctor kind of laughed it off with me, lol. He said some people are just not made to handle those types of workouts!
  • I did it last week. I got to day 5 and now I have a partial tear in my meniscus. I started feeling pain during jumping jacks and stopped doing that. I guess little ol' level one was TOO much on my legs. For my health and safety, I will not be going forward with the rest of 30DS. I will tell you that I felt like I was dying…
  • So FYI everybody... went to my doctor and I have a partial meniscus tear and severe strain. He is also sending me for x-rays to check for bone spurs since the same leg is clicking when he does range of motion. No exercise til Saturday and if so, take it easy. He told me to leave my knees alone, lol. I'm glad I wasn't…
  • Aurora, YES IT IS!!! :) I am very much Lights obsessed. Get to see her twice next month on her acoustic tour! And to everyone else, I have an appointment in about an hour once I get out of class with my PCP. He is a wonderful doctor and has taken care of my mom with her knee issue and my dad with his back (as well as…
  • Well I've had this ACE on all weekend and when I took it off at home today, I was still NOT able to function normally. I think this is beyond workout soreness... so I'm going to continue to take it easy and keep the ACE on. Sad. :(
  • Thank you everyone. I bought an ACE bandage yesterday specified for ligament stress. One of the veterinarians I work with at one of my jobs said this is a ligament strain/injury, and that I am better off waiting a few days to a week for a workout. I feel like I am probably better off doing my normal cardio/strength routine…
  • Thank you! I bought an Ace bandage for Stabilization (it said it was for ligament support) and I put that on. I've been at work on my feet for 6 hours and so far so good... but definitely feel the pain when I move a certain way! :(
