  • I'm.... er, mostly well behaved now.... mostly.... until these foods come into my orbit: 1. BBQ chips. Not the Old Dutch skinny ones, no, the Gourmet Dutch, super thick, very ridged, fully of salty goodness Slow Roasted Rib ones. If I get a craving for those... well, it gets ugly 'round here! 2. Popcorn. I don't know what…
  • Hi! We go meatless every so often (not EVERY Monday, but usually try for at least a few times a month). The trick is to find recipes with lots of veggies, beans and cheese (if you can manage it). I have a good lasagna roll-up recipe http://www.budgetbytes.com/2011/01/spinach-lasagna-roll-ups/ (trust me, you won't miss the…
  • Calorie deficit to shed pounds! As for exercise, the heavy burners for me were haying (lifting 50lb+ bales of hay for 2-3 hours a couple times a week in August really spiked my burn and gave me stronger arms), hiking and shoveling now, though not as much as it would have eight months ago XD. Curse you more efficient body!…
  • My kiddo is the only kiddo on both sides of the family right now (the next oldest is 10 and is his uncle), so he gets spoiled completely rotten. Hubby and I are only giving him two this year, (plus stocking stuff) but he gets a pile from my parents, from his aunties, from our roommate/his godfather, gifts from his other…
  • I started about March 20ish-ish (not sure) and I crossed the 50lb lost mark on Halloween, so just over 7 months? I've since lost a few more pounds, but that's been in the last five weeks or so, lol
  • mmm, I tend to wrap gifts the MOMENT they arrive at the door because I not only have a snoopy four year old, but I also have a snoopy husband AND a snoopy roommate (or he would be if he wasn't working so much), LOL! Then they're put in the pantry. When I have had to hide them for a bit, they're in my clothing drawer…
  • My husband (of close to three years, together for close to 10) watches porn and I read vaguely pornographic graphic novels. Our rule is that it's fine as long as we're not spending money on it and it's not negatively affecting our sex life. If you're more betrayed by the fact that he broke this promise (which, I dunno,…
  • I"ve never really yo-yoed or anything (my weight all came on as a result of university and then getting pregnant after graduating and compounded by a lack of interest in much exercise), but I did start where you are now: 5'7", 200lbs. A few years older, but otherwise, stats are the same. I'm now 147 and roughly holding…
  • I lost 50+ pounds, never touched a food scale. HOWEVER, I can definitely see it's use for many people. I didn't need it, but many others swear by it. I say, if you're considering it, get one (or borrow one) and give it a try for a few weeks and see if it helps. Nothing ventured, nothing lost, eh? :D
  • Maybe... http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Crustless-Pumpkin-Pie/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=crustless%20pumpkin%20pie&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page Or http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Crustless-Pumpkin-Pie-2/?prop31=2 (though that looks like a bit of a menace to make, but I'm paranoid about custard,…
  • Awww, my son has apraxia of speech--same thing, severely delayed. But when he first said 'Ì wuv oo mum' my heart nearly melted.
  • When I was about 7 months pregnant (I was 22), I had a meltdown (quietly). I had just finished my Bachelors, but had gotten pregnant a month after graduating and no one would hire me (I started freelancing instead). I realized that for a while, my whole life would have to revolve around a little kidlet who would require a…
  • Game of Universe by Eric S. Nylund is really good, if you can find enough copies (it's older). Century Rain by Alastair Reynolds is incredibly thought-provoking and really fun, though a bit long To Say Nothing of the Dog OR Passage by Connie Willis; Time travel in To Say Nothing and Near Death Experiences in Passage; very…
  • My four year old isn't big on meat either, but he adores peanut butter and milk, so he gets quite a bit from that. And chicken nuggets XD. But he's only starting to come around to eating pork and chicken and hamburger. Just be patient and peanut butter and cheese are perfectly acceptable!
  • Heh, being careful so far! Just the darn Halloween candy, but I've been careful about that too and logging it (and it's almost all gone now anyway). I just have to split the baking with my neighbors to spread out the damage this holiday season XD
  • I had the EXACT SAME THOUGHT! An original goal of mine was 170 and then 165-160 and I was like 'at 150 I'll be too skinny', but then I got to 166 and joined a longer term challenge to see how low I could go and got to 150 without losing too much of my curves. I guess you never know until you try :D
  • D'awww, thanks everyone!! Still a bit camera shy (and my camera is broken anyway :grumble: ), but I feel a lot better just doing my errands and no longer feel so self-conscious :) And yes, very much an advocate of eat what you feel like in smaller portions. I have pizza and Wendy's (grilled chicken burger and fries)…
  • Oh yay I got a gif!!! And yeah, master at hiding my appearance here. Now I'm still kinda camera leery, but a lot less scared of it, lol
  • Thanks everyone! :flowerforyou: I keep having to fix the darn pictures though, so if anyone got a couple that made no sense in the caption context, HOPEFULLY it's working now :explode:
  • 5'7" HW: 200, size 12/14, L (ugh; I was trying to fit 12 all the time, but really, i was 14 jeans and 12 slacks) CW: 150, size 6/8, Small (or medium, depending on the shirt cut) GW: 145, and I'm fine with my clothing size :)
  • Me me me!! This'll be my fourth year and hopefully fourth win! My username is Tanashai (just like here, lol)
  • My clothing has definitely changed-I used to wear a lot of black and dark colors and now light colors are creeping in. I'm also a lot more confident-I want to go dancing, go to events, and do stuff outside the house. And yeah, guys treat me differently-more willing to open doors, help at stores, and eyeball me (still not…
  • Hmmm.... no one from my neck of the woods... everyone fled. I'm from Prince George, BC :D
  • Try something completely new for exercise. Don't even call it exercise, just try something new. Go rock climbing, hiking, dancing in a club, Zumba, make up a circuit routine... that's what I did when I started to get bored of jogging and walking; I tried new stuff and it brought back the excitement and a sense of…
  • If you're terrible, I am too! My kiddo's playpen (and bouncy chair with the seatbelt thing) was my FAVORITE DEVICE EVER! The kiddo got to play (and nap sometimes) and I got to work (I work from home) or I'd bounce him to sleep in his chair while working. I didn't feel remotely guilty about it, but then I was also in the…
  • Brown. But I've been told they take on gold highlights when I'm angry. :embarassed:
  • Done good so far! I've dropped 48 pounds and am on the way to dropping 50 to be the lowest weight I've been in roughly eight years :) But the key is definitely to hold yourself accountable-log everything you eat, exercise regularly (mo calories!), be forgiving when things hit the fan and be flexible-your calorie needs will…
  • Married, but we were 'shacked up' for years before that. He makes the lion's share of the money (at least triple what I make since I freelance and my money is sporadic), but I manage the budget because he has no head for numbers and looking ahead. Bills are basically cut down the middle as to whose name is attached (he has…
  • About $200 (that's a rough budget); feeding myself, my husband, our four year old son, two roommates (one of whom is lactose intolerant, the other works weird shifts so needs 'grab and go' food), packed lunch for hubby and eating out once every two weeks (er, ordering in, but whatever). Plus two cats and a dog. Heck, in…
  • BBQ chicken wings is probably one of the big culprits of my ballooning in weight :blushing: I used to eat a pack of the ones from Pizza 73 (so like 8 of them) by MYSELF! Now I don't ever get them because I'm the only one who eats them meaning I will! Chips aren't a big problem anymore except for the really thick cut ripple…
