  • You sound just like me six months ago. I was full of excuses for why I couldn't lose weight. I hated exercise (I don't mind it now and even enjoy it), I was too self-conscious to run (or even walk) outside in public, couldn't afford a gym membership, blah, blah, blah... So I started out by concentrating ONLY on maintaining…
  • I like Premier Protein Crisp bars. They are affordable ($1-$1.50) and taste pretty darn good! They have a mint one that tastes similar to Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. They average 190 calories for 15 grams of protein and are gluten free.
  • I am having the same issue with hair loss and am about to start Minoxidil (generic Rogain) for women. After doing quite a bit of research I've read that Biotin may not really help. Minoxidil is said to help you keep the hair you have as well as spurt new growth. Target and Walmart have a generic version for about $20 for a…
  • I don't know what BMR calculator you used, but all of the ones I used shows your BMR to be between 1352-1400+ calories per day. You do realize that that is the amount of calories your body burns if you were just laying in bed all day, don't you?! If you go to work/school, out for a walk, or ANY sort of exercise, then you…
  • The pretzels may seem like the obvious offender, but go over your food diary and look for high sodium hidden in foods you eat often. For instance, anything labeled "Fat Free" or "Light" like your salad dressings or condiments are high in sodium (sure they remove the fat, but replace it with extra sugar and salt to make it…
  • I took a quick look at your food diary and most days you are well over on your sodium. Excess sodium will cause your body to retain water and you'll see a gain on the scale (water weight) instead of a loss. How much water are you drinking? Keep logging your food (you're doing great!), reduce high-sodium foods and be sure…
  • In mid-February I was a 38DDD (probably needed a larger bra at this point, but couldn't find them in the stores). I've lost 25lbs since then and am comfortably in a few of my older 36 DD bras and am close to going shopping for some smaller bras. I have seen a dramatic reduction in my bust and feel SO much better now. Like…
  • I used to love Chobani until I tried Fage. 1 cup of plain Fage has 130 calories and 23 grams of protein. I defrost a 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries (35 calories) to stir in. Fantastic and very filling. Trader Joe's also has plain Greek yogurt that's pretty good. 1 cup is 120 calories and 22 grams of protein.
  • This is a great website -- thank you!!
  • Hello and welcome! :flowerforyou: Feel free to add me for motivation and support! I log daily.
  • Sadly, I was only 150 for about 9 months! :( I had lost 30 lbs. for a trip to Europe, but once we came back, I wasn't motivated to keep it off. This time around I'm not losing the weight for any specific reason other than my health. The real challenge (other than losing) will be transitioning to maintenance, as I've never…
  • Great site -- Thanks!
  • I chose my initial goal weight of 150 lbs. based on where I would need to be to have a healthy BMI. I also looked at pictures of myself when I was last that weight in 2010 and was able to comfortably wear a size 6 - 8 in clothing. My ultimate goal is somewhere between 140 - 145lbs. I want to have some wiggle room when I go…
  • Welcome to MFP! Feel free to add me for motivation and support! In the 9 weeks I've been here I have found it's much easier to stay motivated having friends who are on the same journey to better health.
  • Hi Kenya! Welcome to MFP and congratulations on your recent marriage! Feel free to add me for encouragement and support. My MIL & SIL are both primary school teachers, so I'm not offended by being talked to like I'm 5! :)
  • I'm 45 and log daily. Would love more 40+ friends for encouragement and support!
  • I log daily and my diary is open to my friends, though it's not very exciting! I tend to eat the same things to keep it simple. Anyone is free to add me. Motivation and support is always welcome! :)
  • I refuse to diet ever again! Each time I've followed a strict food/exercise program I've lost the weight, only to regain it plus more! I am changing my mindset and being patient as I learn how to have a healthy relationship with food (and exercise). I don't want a quick fix! I want better health overall. Feel free to add…
  • Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I'm 45 and log in daily. I've been at this about 6 weeks and find it's easier to do with friends! Reading about their successes helps to keep me motivated! Anyone feel free to add me. :)
  • I'm 45 and log in daily. Anyone feel free to add me! :)
  • I really hope you'll consider increasing your calories! I eat between 1400 - 1550 a day and am losing. If you are feeling dizzy at all, it's a clear sign you're not getting enough calories. Try to increase your calories for a few weeks and see how you feel! It's much easier to lose weight and keep it off when you're not…
  • I'm 45 and would love more friends who log in regularly for motivation and support. :)
  • Feel free to add me! Looking for motivation and support as well.
  • I'm in my 40's as well and am looking to lose 25-30lbs. and improve my overall eating and fitness habits. I have two kids in college and work from home. I really struggle with exercise! Once I get a good routine going, I'm fine, it's just getting started and being consistent that I need to work on. I began logging my food…
