The donuts are not offered at the donation sites. You have to go to a Krispy Kreme store (or is it a restaurant—neither seems quite right). Bakery?

Blessedly, it sounds like you weren’t an alcoholic when you gave up wine. Otherwise, you would not be able to simply take it or leave it. The physical need and the withdrawal symptoms for an alcoholic drying out are truly terrible and painful. I love certain foods and have trouble moderating them. But that doesn’t make me…

I read an article from Reuters today that said India was currently averaging almost one COVID death every four minutes. 💔

Something in the NSAIDs can interfere with the immune response, whereas acetaminophen doesn’t. I know the actual explanation is deeper, but that was all I needed to know. 😃

I just read a good piece about the vaccination effort in NorCal. The mostly rural areas (not the Bay Area), are already leaning towards the anti-vaccine way and the sparsely populated areas make Moderna/Pfizer unrealistic because of the 1000-ish doses per vial. They can’t travel enough to get them into peoples’ arms in a…

It was for me, too. California.

As folks have said, and you’ve recognized, 80 is fine. Establishing your baseline is helpful in tracking improvement. Like others have mentioned, fitness trackers often do that. My Fitbit does that and shows me the healthy range for people in my (assigned at birth, binary gender). As well as the age ranges above and below…

Well, this is disturbing news about the “Double Mutant” variant. Especially how it has quickly become the dominant strain in multiple countries and might be driving more severe illness in younger people. 😞 https://apple.news/AAh0yiivNQX6UFiJq-wfXnw

Music, often in the form of playlists for exercise (including walking) really helps me cope. Working out is a big one for me. I also journal. I'm single and live alone, so I've had to amuse myself for the last 13 months (and counting).

Or beer AS a snack! ;)

That will likely be disillusioning. Sorry in advance! :)

You can do this--we're here to help. Many of us have had to do the same thing!

At least here in California, the J&J vaccine was also very popular for and among the homeless population here because it was one dose. I would guess that's the case elsewhere as well, too. Our Public Health/COVID Response Director said the pause in administering J&J was also likely to give time to track down those who…

No kids here. Had to buy one. Only could find a basal thermometer. Still works the same, just thought it was funny (too old to have kids). :D

Such great points! I just found this interesting ... someone with all these resources and access that most of us don't come close to having, and he wasn't able to find lasting success, and it seemed with all the qualified voices he could have listened to, that he still fell prey to so very many fads. I also see the same…

They're pausing J&J in the US while they investigate a rare blood clot issue. I found this article really in-depth compared to others with details and links.* https://www.vox.com/2021/4/13/22381844/johnson-vaccine-pause-covid-19-clot-cerebral-venous-thrombosis Main points:* J&J and AZ vaccines have the same structure, they…

OP, I know you said in your other thread you wanted to lose as much as you can as soon as you can, but this is not the way.

Dropping in with a little “COVID-Vax Arm info from WaPo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/covid-vaccine-rash-side-effect/2021/04/09/7517bad0-97bd-11eb-962b-78c1d8228819_story.html

I had “Moderna Arm,” too. I used a little OTC hydrocortisone cream and it went away in a couple days. It was just a small patch on my upper arm, though nowhere near the injection site (I didn’t connect it to the vaccine at first). I didn’t have it after the second shot, only the first. Hope it goes away quickly!

I am right there with you (in spirit 💖). Myself and my on-site staff are vaccinated. But most of our students aren’t. As well as our vendors, etc. I am weary, too. As I think back over the past year, and how much our knowledge about the virus has evolved, I know there’s so much yet to be discovered, especially with the…

Real-world study in Israel shows the South African variant “breaking through” the Pfizer vaccine. https://apple.news/A94zwwPExRYGN24NZCZImzg Important points: * Research is not yet peer-reviewed * Study involved 400 people * The South African variant, B.1.351, was found to make up about 1% of all the COVID-19 cases across…

Ironically, my electrolytes were also off. My doc said to add a little iodized salt to my food. I avoid sodium due to high blood pressure concerns and my doc’s advice based on family history (everyone has hbp), but she said I overdid it. 🤪

I take Feosol as well. It worked for me eventually. It’ll take time to make a difference. Your tiredness could be unrelated. Maybe you’re more anxious about the diagnosis and not sleeping as well.

Just popping in with more good news (NOT!). A “double mutant” strain found in NorCal, originated in India. https://abc7.com/health/new-double-mutant-covid-variant-identified-in-ca/10491246/

My allergies were terrible in Oklahoma. The cotton. OMG. It could literally catch in your throat and choke you!

Heparin is a blood thinner. I didn’t realize clots were a potential side effect.

As they look further into this, I wonder if there will be a history of hormonal birth control (after 35) and smoking, and other factors that increase the risk of blood clots. The specificity of the demographic makes me think there will be other commonalities as well.

Just checking in with some not-so-good news about the possible impact of the U.K. variant on children. https://abc7.com/health/kids-now-playing-huge-role-in-spread-of-covid-19-variant-expert-says/10486843/
