Also this!!! I had to take responsibility for what I was putting in my body. But I had to drop the shame first. Shame never works.

My moment began in November 2012. I wanted to purchase health insurance so, you know, I could be healthy. The guy at the insurance place was slightly condescending, but whatever. I needed to go in and get a physical done. So I did, and the scale told no lies...I waited patiently for several weeks to hear back from the…

Yes, I refuse to weigh or measure myself until a few days after my period finishes. It's such a psyche out, otherwise...and I'm sort of pissy anyway (no need to fuel the fire, lol).

i guess as a parent of an adult child (step or otherwise), all you can do is express your concern. i have been very overweight for the majority of my life (I'm 32 now). i think it got worse after middle school, when i wasn't taking PE classes or anything. i was driving more, i had a bit of cash (hello $0.30 cheeseburgers),…

i go to pf as well. put a movie or tv show on your tablet. sometimes i'll program songs on my mp3 player so i figure, "ok, if i do 3 AWK songs and 2 Lady Gaga's, a couple of Queens of the Stone Age and a Studio Killers (or madonna), i'll be done. the beginning 5-8 minutes is kind of a drag, but i periodically glance at the…

That made me so sad to read, the hiding and the shame. Been there, for me it felt so terrible. I also remember that I would lie to my family/friends about what I was eating. I guess I just didn't want to hear their negative comments about my food lifestyle. Especially from my mom. Love her so much, but man, she can be so…

I love the eliptical and I too get sleepy foot parts. Specifically, in my middle and fourth toes on both feet. I sort of end up doing a weird foot thing as I go where I sort of march/mark time. I agree, there are like 5 eliptical machines (I call them the old ones) which are my favorite, they put very little strain on my…

I am also an emotional eater. When I get particularly angry or anxious, I instantly think, "I need to go to Dunkin Donuts and get a bagel". I've had to say to myself, "No, you're just pissed/anxious/etc, you're not hungry. Be mad and let it pass". It has been working. Blogging and meditation have also helped me out a lot.…

Thank you so much for your story. I, too, began with needing to lose about 125lbs. Right now, I am proud to say that I am down a total of 25lbs (although MFP says 20...I began my journey in January and lost about 5lbs in a few months, and it really kicked into gear once I started tracking my food and exercise). It gives me…

How often should you revise/update your TDEE? About 2 months ago, I figured it out, but I've lost about 20lbs in total since then.

I went to muscleandstrength.com and looked up a beginner program (for 3 days a week). I like it thus far (2 weeks in), and I've been working on form and pushing myself a little further each time. I also like that in the 3 day workout for beginners, there are helpful little video links to show you how to properly do the…
