The final tally is in for our Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser....all monies going to the Students' Council which pays for all the sports and clubs. Because Ontario has adopted a healthy schools policy, the vending machines have not been raising the same amount of monies to run program as they used to (funnily enough, the…

Just got home from our spaghetti dinner fundraiser at school. My students prepared and served all the food and it was a great success....we fed about 350 people and had a great silent and live auction during the event. Not sure what the total tally for money raised is, but it was a looong day. My student helpers were…

I am also an empty nester and live alone. I discovered meetup.com last winter and joined a number of groups to do stuff with including biking, hiking, skating as well as dinners out and theatre/movie nights. It's usually free or from $5-$10 to join per group. Well worth the price

I wasn't around for October goals but my goals for November are Log Daily. I have got out of the habit and I find I just forget Keep up with the gym at least four times a week. September and the beginning of October were busy and I didn't make time for the gym. It's amazing how much strength and tone one can lose in 6…

I heard a really interesting interview with a personal trainer who, after listening to a lot of his clients telling him he didn't know how hard it was to lose weight, because he had never had to, put on 60 pounds in 6 months and then got back in shape. The book is called fit2fat2fit. He gained a lot of empathy for his…

Just checking in after a several month's hiatus. I did write a fairly long post but in the first part of this thread, so it went into cyber space because I posted at the end of the first part of October. Silly me. Anyway, I stayed active for a lot of the summer but stopped tracking my food because I was away so much. I…

I haven't posted for a bit but I'm back. It's been quite a month but I've managed to maintain for the most part though I did lose a week of exercise after falling off a ladder while trying to clear my downspout during a crazy rain storm. I was bruised and twisted my ankle but did manage to stop the leak through my pantry…

Greetings All A triple TGIF from me.....I am exhausted! This week, my Bistro class asked for a week off from doing the bistro so they could hang out with their friends at lunch and I agreed because they more or less agreed to volunteer to run the bistro this semester rather than it being a scheduled class (one semester a…

Greetings All First off, thanks for the great video Barbie....very inspirational. katiejarr: my boobs are smaller but my bra strap isn't really smaller but some of the cups are definitely not running over anymore but I am loathe to buy new ones until I can go down from a 40 to a 38. I think I am back to a B cup though from…

Greetings Dear Ladies I took Friday off as a personal day as we are allowed one a year, and I needed it. I love my students, most days, but they are very challenging in terms of motivating them, and we had a very busy April and early May in terms of catering. So, on Friday, I slept in until 7 (!) and then drove to a local…

Greetings All It's been a great weekend for bike riding. As much as I enjoy the gym, being outside is SO much better. I biked for 80 km this weekend. The swans and geese are still nesting, no babies in sight yet but I would imagine soon. I go through times when I don't feel the love for exercising but when/if I do it, I…

Greetings All I gave been MIA on this board for a couple of weeks but have managed to keep on logging. The last two weeks have been very busy and I have not eaten the best, but I haven't totally blown it either. As a result, I am up 1 pound but it could be a lot worse. I have had a lot of caterings through the school and…

Greetings All It's been a good week in just about every way except for my electronics. I managed to put my nano through the washer on Saturday so it's sitting in rice and I am hoping that in a week's time, it will start again. I have had differing opinions on that likelihood, but I am going to stay positive! After my week…

What they said but the velcro idea seems like a good one too, or pin it to your bra.

push icing through a ricer or sieve over the area you want to cover. Experiment first till you get the right consistency

I bring along a protein bar, some nuts and cut up fruit as well as a couple of bottles of water.

Greetings All Well, I seem to be chatting it up all the time the last couple of days :blushing: We now have a healthy school bill in Ontario which is, I think, a good thing. What this means is no more unhealthy snacks or sugar/caffeinated pops(soda) in the machines, no deep fried or high sodium/sugar/fat foods in the…

I keep water by my bed. I drink at least 2 glasses during the night. I sleep pretty well but often wake up thirsty at some point in the night and reach for my water bottle, Having it there sure helps my sleep. Usually, if\\ I don't have to get up, but if I have to get up to pee, I drink a glass.

Greetings All Oh my God, what a chatty group we have here. It's April 4th and we have 5 pages!!!! I can't possibly answer everyone but I will try to answer some of the points. Welcome to all the newcomers, you have found a very inspirational group. I think that weight lifting is the best. I haven't read the Strong Women…

After a week of being in a funk, not going to the gym and making some not so great food choices, today I went to a yoga class, did some weight training and then rode my bike for an hour this afternoon. I have a delicious chicken curry bubbling on the stove and made some kick *kitten* spicy eggplant. I got my mojo back!!…

Greetings All It's been a rough and busy week. I have to admit that I am disappointed with myself because it started in a funk last Friday which made me not exercise on the weekend. and then work stuff (meetings and the semi formal dance at school) made it easy to say that I was too busy to exercise which, if I am being…
