Someone mentioned that eating their exercise calories earned makes doing this bearable.....and I totally understand that. For me, it is the more rapid weight loss I see that makes it more bearable & incentivizes me to continue. To each their own! But to unilaterally state that one loses muscle mass by not eating their…

I think what some people are missing is that although the information you get here on MFP is helpful, the process of weight loss is not etched in stone & can differ based on the many factors that go into the numbers. Remember that the estimates you get for your daily calorie target are just that, estimates. Through trial…

I don't really believe the calories burned from exercise estimate that gets imported from my fitness app (currently Endomondo Sports Tracker) into MFP during a workout. Nor do I believe the numbers in the MFP exercise database. IMO there are too many variables to take into account to get a truly accurate measurement of an…

I have found Trader Joe's to have really good prices on most things. They carry many higher quality food items & there is some inventory overlap with items typically found only at the local health food store. They generally are much cheaper than the prices at the health food store. They also have a large selection of…

About the only thing better than beer is chicken & beer.....and therein lies the problem. I find I have to limit my food intake on the days when I expect to drink a beer or two. I'm also a beer snob & man those microbrew calories add up fast. But by limiting the food i eat that day (proper planning in advance), I can…

I have lost 60+ lbs the last two years. I started slowly by walking a couple of miles, very slowly. I remember at first I would get dizzy & have to stop at times. Now I walk 3 miles at a time at a very brisk pace, nearly 4.0 mph. I also adjusted my diet, slowly at first & trying to focus on more healthy eating choices.…

someone mentioned a high horse earlier & I want to say I am opposed to the intentional doping of animals.

I am naturally attracted to a certain type of woman. I did not choose this, no more so than I chose my own sexuality. It is part of my genetic makeup. You can call it "shallow", or "limiting", whatever you choose but you would be characterizing it in a way that reflects your own shortcomings & biases. I'm not going to…

Well I would like to retain the right to prefer smaller framed women if that;'s all right w/ you, lol. I'm kinda sick of everyone lecturing about how we should all think nowadays to be perfectly honest. I married a smaller framed women and if I was still dating I would prefer to date smaller framed women. This is a…

When I was in San Francisco I got to try the Scharffen Berger Extra Dark (82% cacao) fine artisan chocolate. It's probably been my favorite so far. But for every day chocolate use I eat what I can buy locally & usually that is Green & Black or LIndt, which are both 85% cacao. One I tried but didn't like as much was the…

Exactly what I was thinking! I'm standing there relieving myself in peace & harmony & up walks someone who has to occupy the urinal right next to mine instead of one of the many other spots in an otherwise uncoccupied men's room. What is up w/ that??!?!

so IOW you completely rule it out?

You will probably have to disguise the trap now by putting some live foliage around it. Also put it in a different location.....anything to change the 'look' of the set. Lastly, when you set up the trap, lock the door in the open position for a few days & let the squirrel come in & out w/ no repurcussions (just for a few…

I broke down & read the book when I saw it became the best selling series of all time on Amazon. Luckily I was able to borrow it for free on my Kindle. I have no desire to see the movie, I don't get all the hype. The only thing I can figure is that people like to buy (or watch) something based upon its Q rating, not upon…

Ya, another vote for "Inception" here......my son kept telling me what a great movie it was so I watched it and thought wtf??? Also "The Dark Knight". How many violent explosions do we need to see before we say enough already?

There must be something wrong w/ me because I find Man v Food to be one of the worst shows ever conceived. It's shocking to me that a show about wasting food & overindulging to the point of sickness would pass for "entertainment". Like I said, it's just me because it appears to be "must see tv" for a lot of people!

"Do you eat back your calories exercised?" No, I did that for many years (and then some) and it didn't work out too well. So now I eat the same number of calories every day & I don't compensate by eating more when I workout. Maybe if I were closer to my target weight I would but for now, no. Cheers!

I was talking to someone at work about this very same subject. She was asking me what I do when I get to the end of the day, am at my calorie limit yet am still hungry. I honestly can say that hasn't happened to me in the three weeks I have been using myfitnesspal to count calories (that sound you hear is me knocking on…

"Ramen noodles are dirt cheap but unhealthy. Can you name something healthy that can feed you as much as ramen for the same price? I can't think of anything so if anyone knows anything please tell me! (Other than dried beans!)" Corn meal sells for about a dollar a pound & out of a 1 lb bag you can probably make 16-20…

The original poster mentioned junk food as costing less, not necessarily eating out junk food. You can't really compare the cost of eating at MCD's to the cost of a healthy meal you prepare at home. Canned veggies (junk food imo) cost less then fresh veggies. I think that is the salient point. The companies are keeping the…

"The key to succeeding in a Relationship is not finding the right person; it's learning to love the Person you found." I'll go it one better, the most important relationship you will ever have is the one w/ yourself. If you can't love & be happy w/ yourself, you'll never be in a successful relationship w/ another person.

Focusing on the negative in life is such a waste. It’s like the great Bruce Lee once said (while playing the part of Lee in the film “Enter the Dragon”) : “It is like a finger pointing the way to the moon. Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that Heavenly glory!”

I'm sure just about anything nowadys can be contested in court w/ our litigious society but is it right to demand the post office ship packages that weigh 1 lb for the same price as ones that weighs 50 lbs?

Salt is as or more prevalent in the typical american diet as just about anything. As others have mentioned, stay away from processed food. If you buy canned soup, for example, get the "Low Sodium" variety. Better yet, make your own soup using low sodium chicken broth as a base. Don't buy salted snacks such as potato chips…

My take is there are so many things to notice & love about a woman it's hard to list them all :) Count me in the "size doesn't matter" camp for sure.

btw, not to single anyone out for attention but earlier in this thread there was a very lovely looking 72 year old lady who responded positively. I thought that was incredibly awesome!

Someone above stated, "there's no such thing as love at first sight...." I don't believe that.

It's called fun, PeggySue. No harm, no foul....

Could not agree more on the cellphone.....one of the worst inventions ever!

ok, I get it.....I think the scientific name for that condition is "Lay's potato chip syndrome" ;)
