  • When my clothes don't fit, I buy new ones. I feel so much better when my clothes fit. When my clothes are too big, I feel frumpy (unless I'm going for the lazy day big warm sweatshirt thing) and that makes me feel discouraged and I find I'm more likely to eat things just because they are there, instead of because I'm…
  • Do what works for you. I have a small breakfast, 5 days a week this is a banana at 8:30, which is 2 hours after I get up, about 125 calories. My first break at work is 9:45 am and I usually eat another 150-250 calories at this time. For me splitting up my breakfast in to 2 meals works very well.
  • Absolutely not. When I bit my nails, I often bit them so far down my fingers would bleed and then get infected. My fingers hurt so much. I didn't usually realize I was biting my nails. When I actively tried to stop biting them I couldn't, but, about 6 months ago I just stopped. I don't know why, I wasn't trying to, one day…
  • STUFFING!!!!!! Lots and lots of stuffing soaked in gravy. There was other things I ate, but, STUFFING!!!!
  • I make breakfast cookies similar to this recipe (I don't use coconut, but, it sounds like a good addition). http://www.food.com/recipe/healthy-peanut-butter-banana-oatmeal-cookies-499315 I don't actually use a recipe, I just throw things together based on how many overripe bananas I have until I get the dough to the…
  • Chipotle, Noodles, Leann Chin's and Quizno's, depending on what I want to eat for fast food.
  • Never regret anything food wise. I eat what I want, when I want. Stopping demonizing foods was the best thing I ever did for myself.
  • I'm losing with a calorie range of 1700 - 1800/ average daily calories with very little exercise (I have to change this). I find when I'm consistently under 1500 calories a day I stop losing weight.
  • Just got a One, add me http://www.fitbit.com/user/25JFH3
  • Just added you.
  • A little late, but..... Melissa Female No change
  • This old blog post nicely paraphrases why using the BMI chart for anything is ridiculous. http://the-f-word.org/blog/index.php/2009/07/22/the-history-of-bmi-and-why-we-still-use-it/ Pay careful attention when you read about the lowering of the healthy bmi range in 1998 by a group of doctors, most with ties to the…
  • Hi, I'm Melissa, 39 years old with 2 kids and living in a suburb of St Paul/Minneapolis Minnesota, along the border to Wisconsin. I lost a bunch of weight while being a SAHM, but, gained most of it back when I went back to work 5 years ago. I worked in the food industry, but, changed jobs in January, I now work in a day…
  • Name: Melissa Gender: female Starting Weight: 223 lbs (101.1 kg)
  • When you look at the nutrition value on the back of what you're eating it usally has a weight and a dry measurement. For instance my peanut butter says serving sive 2 tbls. (32 grams). I weigh it out in grams and then input it as 2 tbls.
  • I net around 12,000 a week. Which averages to about 1700 a day, but, my daily calorie intake fluctuates between 1200 and 2200 calories a day. I'm losing about 2 lbs a week.
  • I set my goal at 1700, but I eat anywhere between 1200 & 2000 calories a day, depending on hunger. My appetite doesn't follow the same 24 hour schedule as I do. I seem to have 2 low cal days, 3 reg cal days and 2 high cal days in any given 7 day period. Ive decided to listen to my body and not sweat the numbers. As long as…
  • If I want something I eat it. It keeps me from obsessing about foods and binging. People crave what they can't have, so, if you make nothing off limits I find I crave a lot less things. I eat junk sometimes, mostly potato chips, but, I find knowing that if I eat a candy bar it isn't going to kill me makes me want them a…
  • On the advice of the foot doctor, I just bought a good pair of insoles (soft sole) and took the insoles out of my converse and wore the boot he provided for me at night. Worked really well rather cheaply. But, the pain actually went totally away when I started wearing shoes with negative soles to work, as an added bonus my…
  • I have the Jawbone UP. I orignally purchased the Fitbit Flex and my step count was way higher than my actual steps taken, plus, I always have my phone on me so if I'd leave the bluetooth turned on on my phone the flex was draining my battery. I love that the up vibrates when I've been inactive for 30 minutes, great…
  • Depends on what you, yourself, consider healthy. Some people swear by Smart Balance or Earth Balance spreads some go the exact oppisite and will say real butter. I personally say real butter and for me it has to be Kerrygold brand butter.
  • Lately I've been packing turkey meatballs in marinara, 12 meatballs and 1/2 cup of sauce is 310 calories, another 70 cals if I add 1/4 cup crumbled feta. I also pack sliced cucumbers in red wine vinegar which is low cal and filling. Turn the sandwiches into lettuce wraps instead and add more meat to keep him fuller longer.…
  • I consider .y day from the time I get upin the morning until I go to bed at night. Doesn't matter the time. That being said, I think if you consistently log the same way it doesn't really matter.
  • I don't worry about going over on fat, either. I use the fuller fat versions of most things.
  • I don't really worry about natural sugars, either. I'm almost always over the MFP sugar goal. I eat a lot of fruit and veggies.
  • I barely eat dairy, too. Love cottage cheese, though. But, I eat 1% or full fat cottage cheese and it has to be the Old Home brand, everyone else's cottage cheese is way to soupy for my taste. Try out some different brands and see what/if you like it.
  • I think you're going to have to figure out how to not let a program dictate how you eat. For me, a quick reassurance that I'm doing fine, is to take a look at my MFP phone app in weekly mode to see where I stand fir the week. Weekly, I naturally have 2-3 days where I'm well below my personal (1700) calorie goal, 3-4 days…

  • I'm with the Kerrygold butter people. I will never use a different store bought butter, again . The taste is just amazing. And it holds up sitting on the counter, even if the air conditioner isn't on, it stays soft and spreadable without melting into a puddle.
  • I eat at least 1 banana everyday. Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the…
