Oh, honey. You need help. I don't mean that in an unkind way. It happens to all of us at times! Does your nursing program offer free counseling or therapist services? I think it will do you good to talk to a professional about what you are going through. And, you know, if you talk to a therapist, there is a very strong…

Some people say that chocolate cravings come from not having enough magnesium or iron in your blood. I'm a big fan of the Lindt 85% cocoa bars. It's so bitter that I can't eat it like candy. One square (4 make a serving) is enough to stop all cravings. I have a thing for green cabbage. I use it to replace lettuce in my…

I think you are eating too few calories. According to your stats, you need to eat 1685 calories. My understanding is that if you go below that, your body is going to conserve fat. Here's where I came up with that number: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ Either that, or you're eating way more than you think. Measure and…

I am going to buy sundresses and enjoy wearing them with confidence. I will probably eat cake as well. Okay, maybe A cake. Then I'll carry on as normal.

Remove all prepared foods from your house. Just don't buy anything that's prepared. If you have to cook, you're less likely to eat aimlessly. If you buy junk food, it's because you intend to eat it, right? You might tell yourself in the store that you're not going to eat it, but that's a lie. It makes no sense to buy food…

Hi. I've been vegetarian since 2001. I eat eggs and dairy, but no fish. I'm happy to help you with some meal ideas. You can "friend" me or send me a message. Nothing is easy, but don't tell yourself it's "hard." I got called out on this last week! I used the word "hard" and the man I was talking to told me that if I keep…

Sadly, our brains don't lose weight quite like our waists do. It takes a long time to reconcile the woman you see in the mirror with the image in your head. You are stunning. Seriously. You were beautiful when you were bigger and you're beautiful now. Believe and live it! You MUST tell us where you got that dress in the…

Congrats! I did this the other weekend. I ate a cake. Not a slice. A cake. I didn't want to log it, but I did anyway. The damage was bad, but not actually as bad as I had feared. Then I realized, "Oh, this won't totally derail me. I'll just go back to eating normal (aka healthy) tomorrow." And I did. I realized that it's…

I guess my post title was misleading. I was not taking the sample personally. I was just offended that they thought it was appropriate to hand out to anyone. To me, it's another example of fat-shaming. What of the girls/women who are fragile and will take it personally? I really didn't mean to make this about me. It's…

Do you think it's okay for them to call me fat? Just curious as to your person opinion.

I dragged myself out of bed this morning and went to the gym even though I didn't want to. (Of course, it turned out to be great.) I walked 20,000+ steps today. First time since I started really tracking my mileage.

Not all sugar is bad for you. Fruits and vegetables have naturally occurring sugar in them. I don't think there's any harm in eating a red pepper. However, almost all processed foods have sugars added to them. That's where you run into trouble. You have to be very careful about reading labels. Companies now know that…

Thanks, everyone. All your replies were extremely helpful. Squeezing my shoulder blades together is the key. (Incidentally, when I did those squats, it was part of a BodyPump class and the instructor told me I was doing it right. I already didn't like the class, but knowing that she was wrong just seals the deal. I'm not…

Surviving open heart surgery is a victory on it's own. Then having the drive and will to be walking a day later is incredible. Even if you hadn't lost a pound, your story would be inspirational. You really are incredible! Keep up the good work. Perseverance pays off.

Your journey is amazing and you look stunning. It's all going to keep getting better from here.

I went way over my calorie limit on Saturday but on Sunday picked up with my normal diet (instead of giving up). Feels good. I went to my first gym class every--BodyPump. I didn't like it at all, but at least I went. I plan to do a different class tomorrow. Even thought it has been snowy and icy, I've managed to get in at…

This. Exactly. A whole pizza or a carton of ice cream or a cake. Eating until your stomach hurts and then eating some more.

I've been a vegetarian since 2001. I wish I could be vegan, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to get enough protein. I do have vegan recipes in my collection and I'm always happy to share. I highly recommend the cookbook Veganomicon. Also, there's a group for vegetarians and vegans. Go browse through the groups and you'll…

I find that doughnuts never live up to my expectations/memory. I eat it and then I think "It really wasn't that great. Why did I eat that?" They're usually just sweet--not a whole lot of flavor. I would much rather eat those calories in the way of a big plate of stir-fry that actually fills me up and leaves me satisfied.

127.63/2000. I'm getting really tired of the weekly snow storms putting a damper on my walking. But I will do this!

30 years old. Female. 5'4"-5'5". Right now I'm around 137. Trying to get below 130. Then tone. Walking is my hobby. I am vegetarian and I cook all my own food. I also like to grow my own veggies. If you want vegetarian recipes or gardening help, just PM me.

It sounds like you have 2 habits that you need to break. The eating when kids come home and the eating at night. Those really are habits! And the good thing is that habits can be broken. It's hard, yes, no one will argue that. But it can be done! I agree with the advice to plan everything ahead of time. I started doing…

95.75 miles total this year. Aiming for 2000. The cold and ice is making it harder.

I make my own seitan. According to MFP, it has about 24 g of protein in a serving. If you can handle gluten and a simple recipe, message me and I'll send you my recipe.

I'll gain 5lbs in a day just by eating too much sodium. If you watch your intake, you might be able to stop the fluctuation or see a pattern. Edit. I should add that it's clearly just water.

A lot of people think that if they lose weight they will suddenly be happy. That's not the case. We're usually still the same person inside with all the same hurts and fears. It's hard on so many levels. You might look up books by Geneen Roth or Frances Kuffel. I look in the mirror and I see fat. But I also look at women…

It doesn't matter how much you weigh. You're gorgeous! Not to say you shouldn't lose weight to be healthy, but you're absolutely stunning as is.

I think everyone else's advice is very good. I wanted to add: Pay close attention how your body reacts to foods. You want to keep your blood sugar even, right? So watch what foods cause it to go up and down dramatically. Try to eat those foods less frequently. If you see a nutritionist or dietician, take notes. Then get on…

62.73. I lost my pedometer for a couple weeks so that's all I've got for January. Here's hoping February is warmer and I can step on it!
