Have you tried simply standing upright and engaging/tightening your abdominal muscles? Not "sucking your gut in". Engaging the muscles. Try standing relaxed. Take a normal breath. In a normal voice say, "Hello world. How are you doing today?" Now, engage/tighten your abs. Can you still take a fairly normal breath. Again…

What do you find confusing with macros? Maybe we can clear that up some.

I've done a few things that were recommended by others. 1. Make sure I'm drinking enough fluid 2. Adjust my macros to more fat and protein. 3.Grab a snack and go over 100-200 calories. Doesn't totally undo my weekly deficit. 4. Adjusted my dairy (which is open) for 6 times a day to take in some calories.

That's my understanding.

So, congratulations on putting in the effort. Second, we all eat over our calorie budget here and there. Why? Because we're human being and not machines. Congratulations on being one of us! There are a few questions. What's your MFP estimated calorie deficit if you eat bang on 1260 calories? How aggressive is your weight…

Exercise - studies suggest that it influences neurotransmitter levels, which impact mood in a positive manner, and reduces mental stress. Meditation - research suggests that this can actually restructure the brain. It has also been shown to affect brain wave activity in a positive manner for anxiety and depression. Dietary…

Just cycled my first +30 mile ride yesterday, and I woke up today with minor muscle aches instead of major aches and inflammation that would have occurred before changing my eating habits.

Beat me to it. OP, this entry has an accurate calorie count for the flesh of the fruit from the weight of the whole cherry. Makes weighing them easy.

We can see that everyone manages quite differently with their scheduled times to eat. I actually changed my diary to six 3 hour blocks of time in a day. I try to eat a little bit in 5 to 6 of those blocks of time. Yesterday was a bit wonky for me with a 3 hour bike ride and 2 hours of Aikido, but my diary is open for…

This flowchart restates in a visual way what others have said above. While thyroid issues and adrenal issues can make things more difficult, they do not prevent one from losing weight.

For me eating on a "3 meals a day" schedule, leaves me feeling hungry most of the day. What I have found works better is eating 5-6 times a day. Just as I start feeling hungry, bam! 200-400 calories. That's one thing that has worked for me. It might be something to fiddle with in your habits to see what fits you…

Been practicing Aikido for about 16 years. Good for cardio, but not for strength training like other arts. Like learning and figuring out new ways to take away someone's balance. Worked with a couple guys who cross train in bjj and judo. Good experience seeing what can work, and doesn't. Often see what is comparable. Not…

Do you mind providing a link to the information you're using for this claim? I'm not familiar with it, and it runs counter to other sources of information.

It looks from what you've written and titled this thread that you lost weight for a full year. You are down to the final 12 pounds you want to lose. Your measurements are continuing to change and you're losing roughly 1/2 pound a week. This is not a plateau. These are however the slowest, longest pounds to come off. If…

I would start out at Sedentary, and try HRM tracking/logging your cardiovascular exercise periods for a month. See how it goes. You can always change it. I'm currently at lightly active after starting at sedentary. I log additional exercise periods outside of my weekly norm.

Congratulations on starting out your journey. Follow the MFP daily calorie goals and you ought to achieve your goal! You want to watch the entries you use because there is a lot of user input in the database and some of it is simply wrong. There should be a good way to double check your inputs. In the states, I use the…

I ride a DS 8.3. It's been very good to me. Wish I could have gone up to the 8.4 for the hardware upgrades, but was pushing my budget at the time.

Congratulations on your first 5! Keep up the good work. Many someones here have reminded us that it isn't a race, and we are human, not super human. So changing our habits is always possible, but sometimes difficult.

If you are around the Des Moines area a good friend of mine who cycles recommends Kyles bikes in Ankeny, Freds bike shop on ingersoll, bikeworld, and Rasmussen.

This is an excellent post that hits on the most likely issue in the first sentence.

I make a vegetable beef stew that changes slightly (mushrooms/no mushrooms, rutabaga/turnips, more broccoli/more cauliflower) every time I make it. I modified it 5 different times until I realized a 300g serving (approx 2 ladles) was varying by 30 calories... If I'm doing something drastically different with a recipe, then…

Sweet potato with butter and avocados. The fat and flavor in both just satiate my appetite when my appetite just doesn't want to shut off.

Yup, she knows my weight, I know her weight. We've been together for 13 years, and talk about our health concerns frequently.

Important distinction. You can convert cups to *fluid* ounces, which is a volume to volume measurement. 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces. Nice for milk, broth, etc. You cannot convert cups (a volume) to regular ounces, which is a measurement of weight. 1 cup is not equal to 8 ounces. The "cups" measurement of volume is particularly…

Interesting. After the more common issues that people covered here, I imagine with a database the size of MFP there are bound to be those glitches.

Coming from the Keep It Simple Silly philosophy of life: Are you logging your exercise some days and not others? Do you have a fitness tracker that is linked to your account? Did MFP prompt you to update your goals soon after you made the 2/wk to 1/wk? Those are the only 3 things that I can think of that would cause your…
