This. I get saline bloat from IVs. Unless your surgeon told you not to, walking should be fine the day after getting your wisdom teeth out. Just bring someone along if you're taking pain meds.

I came back once or twice to find this thread, and I couldn't find it! I didn't abandon it intentionally. I actually kept things up pretty well in terms of taking time to tune in with my body. I've managed to increase the range of motion in my hips since my surgery! Easing into heart openers and inversions since my belly…

Or you could go topping-crazy, but take half home. Because then you can have pizza for breakfast! Use it as an exercise in mindfulness, no matter what. Your brain may try to convince you to get the extreme meat madness!!! when you'd be just as happy with meatballs and artichokes.

Reduce your consumption of foods high in purines (especially red meat, beer, whiskey, and whatever you discover is a personal trigger), stay hydrated, pay attention to whether over the counter medications or vitamins cause flare ups. There are plenty of websites that explain how gout works and how to reduce symptoms with…

I'm 5'6" 130lbs, down from 170 ish. Current measurements are 36-25-38. I wear a small shirt, and I think my dress size is a US 6. I'm anti-pants. My weight has yo-yo'd up and down for the past 10 years, and I had forgotten just how "small" my frame is (even with my larger hips). I'm going to lose another 10 lbs or so, then…

I'm allergic to green tea. It gives me a itchy mouth and throat. Funny thing is, I can drink black tea and white tea just fine, even though they're all the same plant. I get the same reaction whether it's a cup of tea, or something fancy like green tea creme brulee. I have a friend with the same problem. We cured it by not…

If you're really worried, drink some coconut water. But if you're a veggie and eating mostly fresh foods, you probably aren't even close to deficient. If it worries you, get a blood test. Even during the "winter of ice cream," my blood levels of potassium were still within the normal range.

Ribeye is my favorite, too! The boyfriend thinks it's a little too "soft," but I love melty steak. I just have to eat little portions because my body complained about my high fat intake.

Laaamb. Asparagus. We grilled swordfish steaks on a bed of limes a couple weeks ago, and it was beautiful. Peaches and pineapple. I want to grill banana boats stuffed with walnuts, chocolate, and marshmallows, but that's a lot more work than the griller is willing to put in for dessert...

My inner thighs hate me for this.

Wellbutrin made me shaky and I couldn't sleep. It was prescribed along with zyprexa, and I gained 25 lbs in 6 weeks. The doctor then took me off the zyprexa and doubled the wellbutrin (from 150mg to 300), and I figured I would lose the weight quickly after that. Three months later, I had gained another 5 lbs, and I started…

I've lost about 40 lbs with frequent use. I don't have a prescription, but my doctors know I smoke it. I use it as a tool for meditation and yoga. Munchies aren't really a problem, and I haven't binged since April. I lost the weight by being more mindful about how I'm taking care of myself, weighing and measuring my food…

Apples and bacon is one of my favorite fast breakfasts, so I can get behind this. Also, it must take serious patience and skill to make instruments out of vegetables.

I've had all the knowledge in the world about how to take care of my body, and I have still gained and lost and gained again. For me, the most important thing was consistency. I have to do what needs to be done every day. It also helps to remind myself I only have this one body, and even without medical issues, I have to…

0.65 My waist is 25" and my hips are 38.5". I'm pro-pantslessness. I also only have one working kidney. I don't think that contributes at all to my tiny waist, but it certainly negates any health benefits from my waist-hip ratio!

Like the title of the thread, I'm 5'6". Currently 131lbs and 36-25-38.5. And I've lost a lot of muscle mass the past year from being sick and depressed. My measurements are going to effing awesome when I heal up enough to work on my strength again. My happy weight was between 115 and 120 before the big gain, and I was much…

I added you. I never turn down a new friend (and I've only ever removed one)! Thank you!

I stopped counting until my surgeon cleared me for increased movement last week. But I also took hour long walks to other appointments, and had to walk to the store for my grocery shopping. I've had quite a few surgeries over the years, and counting calories has never been a post surgery concern. The painkillers dull your…

I practice every day. I keep general ideas in mind when I'm having a more active day, but I mostly just follow my intuition and creativity to transition from one pose into the next. I'll unroll my mat, step into mountain pose, and breathe. Eventually, another pose will pop into my head, and it snowballs. Sometimes the next…

I'm bipolar, and I can't/won't take meds because of my kidney transplant. I get some bad mood swings, too. One of the things that has helped is really focusing on my health because I have to live in my body for the rest of my life. I'm sick of being unhappy. It's really a lot of work to be unhappy. It's much easier to feed…

Stretching all around your hips will help with a swayback/belly pooch. I do forward bends, either seated with my legs straight in front of me or standing, to stretch the entire back of my body. It gets everything from your shoulders down to your feet (the stretch of the feet is so good if you keep your feet flexed in the…

That has everything to do with beauty! Beauty is more than something you look at. A person can practice yoga every day and that dedication creates confidence, regardless of whether the practitioner is doing impressive backbends or an impressive mountain pose. Isn't confidence beauty? Isn't being dedicated to your practice…

I took prednisone for a year after my kidney transplant. Prior to the surgery, I was 110 lbs at 5'6", and was on the very restrictive dialysis diet. It took me around two years to gain 5 lbs. Looking back at pictures, I was very puffy and had the moon face. You'd think I would have gained a ton of weight that first year,…

I run across her picture often. She is really beautiful to look it, and so strong and graceful. Obviously a lot more fit and dedicated than I have been over the years. I don't know if she connects herself to the HAES movement or if she has a disease like Dercums or anything about her other than what I see in a picture, but…

As children, we're often encouraged/forced to clean our plates, even when the foods we're served don't mix well in tiny bellies. Milk and fibrous green veggies are usually the culprits, creating mucous and gas. I spent so many nights protesting overcooked broccoli and rapidly warming milk. I also would eventually eat it,…

My boyfriend bought me my current food scale! I sometimes weight my food when I'm at his place, too, with his postage scale, but I'm pretty good at taking reasonable portions of the more caloric foods we eat together. And we always have 17 million different veggies or fruits, so my plate never looks anemic compared to his.…

I don't even marinate it when I cook it. I press about 1/4 of the block, sprinkle on spices (Moroccan seasoning is a favorite, but I'm just as happy with salt, pepper, and paprika), and throw it on the George Foreman grill for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of the meal. The rest of the meal is usually veggies, rice…

We had really clean tap water growing up, and that's what I drank most. I was forced a glass of milk along with my green, fibrous veggies at dinner--bad combo for sensitive bellies, and I still hate milk more than any veggie. Sometimes I would have a glass of grapefruit juice for breakfast, or a can of raspberry ginger…

Disability shouldn't automatically affect your ability to exercise. I know two women who use wheelchairs who completed their yoga teaching certification. Even if you're area isn't progressive enough to have multiple disabled yoga instructors, you can talk to your doctors and therapists about what could be an option, like…

I just had my gallbladder removed a week and a half ago. I've been walking a lot, mostly because public transportation is a fail in my city. I'm taking a break from logging, but choosing to eat mostly things that are nourishing. Fruits, nuts, grains, gentler veggies (more cucumber and zucchini, less broccoli and onions),…
