I definitely plan to continue weighing myself weekly to track my progress. My plan was to be a bit looser with the logging and not beat myself up if I missed a day or two, but if I saw the numbers start creeping up again, then I'd buckle down and be strict with myself again.

I put on 1.7 in a 2 week vacation. I didn't count calories, but I still made health conscious decisions. Did I really need to eat the entire bowl of poutine by myself, or could I split it with the rest of my family? Have fun on your trip!

French braids have been such a lifesaver. I found that ponytails would come out because of the bouncing motion, but the french braid stays put. It's amazing.

When I look at my sugar count for the day I always subtract however many grams come from fruit. If the difference is below the recommended number, I'm good. Just don't count natural sugar (that comes from things like fruit) into your allowance.

You can absolutely lose more than 1 pound per week. Just make sure that you're eating at least 1,200 calories, even if it means eating back the calories you lose when you exercise!

1200 calories is the minimum number of calories you should be eating a day. Since you said you wanted to lose 2 pounds a week, MFP chose the lowest number of calories possible so you could lose the weight quickly. Not sure about you all, but I know that in my case part of it is me saying to myself "you know, 15 pounds isn't that much", not really understanding that if it took 3 months for me to lose it, I won't be able to put it back on overnight. This was especially true at the beginning, when the numbers were still small.

I think a lot of it has to do with mental barriers. While we really want to lose the weight, it's hard to actually accept that it's happening.
