  • I have to do this sometimes. I do a basic alternating upper/lower body split 3x/week, but sometimes I have less time in the evenings then I need. So I might knock out my OHP and row (for example) in the AM, then do the remainder of my upper body workout that night.
  • What is it? My core is absolutely destroyed and I could really use some planking.
  • I think there are probably more benefits to free weights, mainly the ability to do compound lifting and use stabilizing muscles. That said, I use mostly machines as of now. My knees are crap and squatting with only 15 pounds (kettlebell) did a number on them. I'm still trying to recover and that was a few weeks ago. So,…
  • I'm in the same boat except a few weeks further along than you. I'm eating about 1800 calories right now on non-exercise days--my account is set up for losing a pound a week but then I log -500 calories for BFing so I might as well have it at maintenance and save myself the hassle :P. I eat back pretty much all of my…
  • I lifted while pregnant and loved it. I would've gone to the end too (41 weeks) but stopped at 36 weeks after lingering major rib pain from bronchitis.
  • It's a pedometer that syncs up to their website and can sync to MFP if you want. I have one and like it as it motivates me to take more steps during the day. I just wish it also had heart rate monitoring capability to better judge calorie burn during non-step exercises.

  • Erindolly, I may not have emphasized it that much in my first post but I really highly recommend HypnoBabies. Even though it didn't work as well for me the second time (I think because I listened to it over speakers instead of earbuds so it was easier to lose focus) it still helped immensely. And I rocked it the first time…

  • Some hospitals do have birth tubs, but they tend to be limited (not one in each room) and are only for labor, not delivery, which sucks. Also, I never got the IV drugs before getting the epi--I see no reason to do them. From all accounts they make you loopy but don't help with the pain and they get passed on to the baby.…

  • Deleted--accidental duplication.

  • I had an epidural with my first. I got it about 16 hours into labor (I labored at home a long time before I could be admitted to the hospital and get the epi). The pain relief was lovely. Unfortunately I reacted poorly to it, had a blood pressure drop and other complications and ended up with a c/s a few hours later. So…

  • You can eat the 250 back if you want to. Just be sure you don't go beyond it. Some advocate only eating half or so back to account for any counting inaccuracies.
  • I used to think I hated exercise too. It turns out that I really just hate the cardio machines. I really like Zumba and strength training, so that's what I do for exercise, along with walking on the beach in the mornings for about 30 minutes (although truthfully that is more mental than anything--I don't try to walk fast).…
  • It's ok to be concerned, but don't let it stop you! I had my third baby 2 months ago. This was the only pregnancy where I concerned myself with eating well and working out, and I gained 26 pounds (I gained 35-40 with the other two). Now I am 5 pounds above prepregnancy weight, and want to lose about 30 more beyond that.…
  • I take a short walk (30 min) on the beach 5 days a week, lift weights for 45 minutes twice a week (I may up to 3), zumba for an hour 2 times a week, and generally take a 1 hour strength training class once a week. I probably wouldn't even do the walks if it weren't for my fitbit motivating me to take more steps, and I do…
  • I started doing kettlebell squats for the first time a couple days ago and fell right onto my butt. Oops.
  • I'm sorry you cannot switch doctors, because your doctor sucks. He is not VBAC supportive at all. I've had 2 unmedicated VBACs now. In both cases, I didn't go into labor until 41 weeks 3 days, and didn't deliver the baby until 41 weeks 5 days, so both labors were well over 24 hours, which was fine as long as the baby was…
  • I don't like Special K. I eat it and I'm hungry again maybe an hour later. Other cereals do a much better job of filling me up.
  • I have no rhythm, but Zumba is so much fun! When I do finally get the choreography down, I feel all bad**s. Also, people in class with you are generally too busy trying to keep up themselves to worry about your moves.
  • Up your protein. Best advice I got from my OB about eating well during pregnancy was to combine protein with carbs to keep blood sugar from crashing (carbs spike blood sugar fast, protein keeps it up longer). I ate over maintenance almost every day in the 2nd & 3rd trimesters. I didn't count during the 1st trimester…
