  • Ah, gotcha'. I was just curious, I've heard some federations are different with requirements and what not. Some judge more meticulously than others, but I didn't know first-hand. Thanks!
  • How does that workout when you compete? Don't all federations require that your butt is touching? Or are you able to ride that line with your form?
  • I think it really depends on the dynamic of your relationship. Can you two agree on a well-structured program to follow and encourage each other without getting pissed at each other? That's really not a question we can answer for you. I know my parents use to try and golf together and it was always just bickering back and…
  • I think it's an exercise in patience for your husband if you make him go with you. LOL :D j/k
  • No *kitten*? That I did not know. lol
  • Yeah, it was a good video. :) I like the reference to the 80's after-school specials about roid-rage. LOL! I almost forgot about all that crap.
  • My workout list includes, Rob Zombie, Chevelle, 5-Finger Death Punch, Red, and a couple other randoms. I have 3 go-to songs before a big set that I like depending on how I feel that day. 1. Red - "Feed the Machine" 2. Evans Blue - "This Time is Different" 3. Chevelle - "Well Enough Alone" or "Takeout the Gunman" these 2…
  • For sure. It's really silly to me that it carries such a negative connotation, especially in a world with alcoholism and the continued legalization of marijuana; but somehow steroids are the devil. lol
  • Yeah, not great advice by any means. The hammer curl just add a different stimulus to the biceps muscles that's all. There is validity in doing regular barbell curls, db curls, or hammer curls. Doing them as fast as possible for a minute straight... I don't know what the purpose would be in that. Perhaps he's trying to…
  • A good way to balance lower body training would be to do a compound lift that hits everything like the Squat or Deadlift. Then you can add some more specificity for hamstrings in the form of SLDL's, RDL's, Leg Curls, etc. In particular to the Hamstrings, the SLDL has very high peak hamstring activation; higher than a…
  • I do not know much about Turmeric's side-effects. My uncle did some graduate work that had something to do with nutrition and pharmacology and he's a big believer in Tumeric. He gave-up taking NSAID's completely and just uses Tumeric. I would say that Turmeric probably has less negative side-effects than NSAID's because…
  • Haha, for sure. I should've said "accident." I didn't mean to get 22" arms, if only I wouldn't have injected that prescription that I didn't know what was in there. lol. Never forget the first time I met a female bodybuilder at least she didn't shy away from that topic.
  • Except the females that accidentally fall on syringe filled with 200mg's of Test-Cyp. :dizzy:
  • This is definitely a debated topic and I'ld like to see the references the meta-analyses are pointing too. If you look on the right side of the first post there's a study indicating that NSAID's have no affect on MPS. I have yet to see anything absolute that says do or don't take NSAID's. Just in my opinion I think it's…
  • Why is that? Do Zinc and Copper have a chemical bond that affects how Zinc reacts in the body? I don't know anything about, just curious.
  • Yeah, pretty much that. I chatted with Chase Karnes about a year ago and he indicated he ate about 500 calories over maintenance on training days and I believe he said 500 calories under maintenance on non-training days. He writes, or at lleast use to write, for EliteFTS and I thought he posted his plan so it might be…
  • What is it that you're seeing in the studies that interests you? Anecdotally I've heard it boosts testosterone and gives energy. I took ZMA for about 4 years and I found that I did sleep a little bit better, but it did not help me fall asleep; I simply felt a little better when I woke up. The Zinc in it might help with…
  • I think cardio type is going to matter the most if you're talking pure calorie burner. Is a slow mile jog versus, multiple 100m sprints, weight training could beat-out the jog; it's all subjective to what one is doing. But I totally agree about the 2nd point, do not do something for calorie burner. Exercise is more than…
  • I think @usmcmp is right on with her comments and the comments about nutrition and weight-loss. The one thing I will say is that if you have the motivation to wake-up before work and do some body-weight squats, maybe some mountain climbers, push-ups, just to get some blood flowing and get yourself awake and going for the…
  • Right-on, I don't know why some think Squats are quad dominant; it's really quite the opposite. They become quad dominant when performed incorrectly. I think there are some good options of the OP in here. I'm not sure that deficit DL's are a good option. If they OP can't stay tight with a regular DL, I think his stability…
  • This actually isn't a crazy idea by any means. John Meadows introduced something similar where-in he would do his isolation exercises first and compound lifts last. Because he was in a fatigued state it reduced the intensity he used and really focused on form and getting the most out of every rep. It is probably not ideal…
  • How's your flexibility in-general? Do you typically feel "tight" which affects your movement or are you modestly limber? You may not need to go through SMR and stretching before you run. Depending on your mobility needs, you may get away with just doing a dynamic warm-up. It could be something like... Hip Circles front &…
  • It's more than just the split that dictates your training outcome. If he trains with the appropriate variables, while perhaps not ideal, he can still gain strength. I've come to the point where if training a certain way is motivational to them getting their butts in the gym versus sitting on one's butt, then do it. My only…
  • I don't know that there's truly a wrong or right answer to your question. Without knowing anything about your training and really changing anything, I would say Back & Core day would be most appropriate. The Deadlift is excellent and training your posterior Core muscles, so once you put that in keep that extra posterior…
  • That is quite true, but the larger body of evidence suggests micro tears / trauma that was mentioned earlier. Unfortunately much of an Exercise Science should really be called Exercise Theory because there seems to be few absolutes. It looks like you do some figure or bikini competition so your goals are aesthetic…
  • I'm familiar with what DOMS is and why it occurs, but why do you say the "Jury is still out"? DOMS is rather specific and not overly debatable, it is what it is. If you're struggling to get DOMS in your back and shoulders it's probably because you either haven't challenged them and you just carry low-bodyfat OR you have…
  • 235 people, wow! Yeah, that's a good recommendation from the CDC. Note that last sentence. Since the CDC is an international body, I wonder what their population sourcefor this would cover. Based on work done in 1985? I would say this information is quite out-dated.
  • For a sedentary women on maintenance of what weight level?? A sedentary woman on maintenance at 5'5" is going to be far different than a 4'10" woman or a 5'10" woman. Let's say that 1.4KG's / KG of BW is used as a multiple for protein consumption, then 46gm's of protein would represent the maintenance for a 75lb woman.
  • Yeah, though I'm not really sure what that point would be. The research I've seen always used a population with healthy renal function and impairment to that function as a result of the protein consumption was never found to be true. Now if you take somebody would poor renal function then yeah it could be a different story.
