My first thought is how are calculating the exercise calories you are eating back? If you are using MFP or the numbers on a machine, they are WAY optimistic for most of us! I get this. I was painfully, pathologically shy all my childhood and youth due to undiagnosed chemical depression. I also have very thick hair. I would were it long and over my face to hide behind it. When I learned how to handle the depression, I cut it all off.

Happens to me every time, too. Also in my thighs. But never in the arms which seems weird, now that I think about it. Anyway, I take it as a sign that I've given the legs a workout!

I'm at lunch now sitting in the grad student learning center (a spiffy, comfy lounge I and a coworker put together) I pull MFP up whenever I need to log, when I need some inspiration and when I just need a break. I'm the admin person for a biology dept.

I changed black tops twice today for that reason. Settled on the one that's not too clingy, not too baggy with a pair of twill capris. BTW: the blue hair is an excellent distraction. :-)

Oh, I am picking up a fresh lime and doing this, too! I also am lucky to have a local tiny company that makes hot sauces and powdered seasoning mixes. Their jalapeno delight is basically instant guac but my favorite is a green chile seasoning. I just sprinkle it on top and dig in.
