Weight loss isn't always linear. I know that in the beginning of my journey on MFP, I got so frustrated because I was at my 1000 calorie deficit every day but didn't lose the full 2lb that I felt this deficit entitled me to. However! There is light at the end of the tunnel, because I've since discovered that I might go…

Not necessarily - these things take time! I know you said you've changed your habits these last few months but if you've only been logging for the past week then you can only really count on that. And that's only if you've been logging accurately (see:…

Welcome to your weight loss journey! The quickest answer to your question is "I have been working out for just about a week". It's been a week! If you're going to be successful, you'll have to learn to have patience with this. You didn't gain all the weight in one week so you can't lose it in a week either. You might not…

Just tested it on the iPhone App and it's still there. Even gave me a warning for eating too few calories since it's not even 10am here (UK).

^^ This. Labelling it as a "European" thing is definitely way off! Europe is made up of 50+ different countries and covers over 3 million square miles. Each of these areas have different cultures and styles of eating and you can't confuse us all as being the same given that we are all so different. It's a personal…

This is the only explanation you need, not that you have to explain yourself to anyone. Food is a very sociable thing for people and deviating from the norm (in your work's case, ordering in) is always going to be questioned. I know its frustrating but your health matters more than their opinions. Try not to let it bother…

^ As Above, the initial massive weight loss was probably water. You really don't want to be losing more than the recommended 1-2lb per week. If it helps, think of the weight you've lost so far as more of an average. Lets say the 2 months you've been trying to lose weight is 8 weeks. At 12lb lost you've been losing at an…

For your weight loss to be successful, you're going to have to start logging accurately. It does feel like a lot of effort in the beginning but I promise you that it will become second nature. When you log every day and every morsel that goes in your mouth, you're not only more accountable, but you also start to notice…

I know how you feel - I'm always hungry just before bed. But instead of fighting it, why not save some of the calories from your daily allowance for a pre-bed snack? I've spent years having bad sleep patterns because I'm too hungry to drift off and forcing myself to have breakfast first thing in the morning when I'm not…

Even people trying to lose weight can eat that pizza - it's not the pepperoni and bacon which are the problem, it's the portion sizes/moderation. There's no problem with anyone enjoying something delicious, that's their own personal choice which they're not "doomed" for making.

^ THIS. Think back to the past when you might have struggled to lose weight yourself. If you saw someone as successful as you've been, I bet you'd be convinced that it was some miracle diet or pill. I think it's hard for people to accept the simplicity of healthy eating and exercise to lose weight. We're conditioned to…

Let me know if I'm wrong, but are you saying you haven't seen any loss in two weeks? If so, that's not a plateau. Plateau's (at whatever size) are more like 6-8 weeks. Not seeing the scale budge in two weeks isn't anything to worry about. Your weight loss is not, and will never be, linear. It's not something you can…

I would say that this is probably your reason for weight stall. Your body needs water and minerals from your diet to help repair your poor leg. Give it some more time and don't let it dishearten you. I broke my leg and ankle at the same time once. I definitely felt swollen but I ended up losing a stone by the time I was…

A "small cube" to you might be a "large cube" or indeed a "very small cube" in someone else's eyes. It's not a way to determine how many calories you've had from your food because there's no way be accurate. Check out this thread on how to log accurately:…

Try not to put so much focus on whether or not you "appear fatter" because chances are its all in your head. This is your journey and your goals. If you want to lose 14lbs with just a calorie deficit first, then do it. But understand that it's going to take patience and a lot more than a couple of weeks to see the…

Try not to focus so much on the numbers - weight loss is not and will never be linear. You can't predict to lose a certain amount in a specified time-frame. That's not to say you shouldn't have goals, just don't place so much importance on what a scale is telling you. It's supposed to be a lifestyle change, not a quick…

It can be difficult to manage weight loss around restrictions (eg: cooking space, cooking ability, money etc) but it's going to be really hard for you to succeed without the right motivation. You can't think of this as a quick fix, it has to be a lifestyle change. Can you really live off soup, crackers and tea for the rest…

I personally don't often eat it. If I do, it's a breakfast bar or something small that I'll only remember to eat at 10am. I just don't feel like anyone should ever force themselves to eat breakfast if they're not hungry. Especially if, like me, it makes that person feel uncomfortably and insatiably ravenous for the rest of…

Sensitive to hormones? Plan B is hormones. Find a different plan A!

Give it more time and be patient. As long as you know that you're doing the right things (accurate logging etc) then the weight loss will happen. Certainly one thing that I've learned on this journey is that weight loss is not, and will never be, predictable. It's not linear. A deficit large enough to 'lose 2lbs a week'…

Perhaps your weight loss goal is too aggressive for you right now. Maybe cut your weight loss goal to 0.5lbs a week to allow yourself more calories at least in the early stages. You can always increase this loss to 1lb a week when you're used to eating less calories. Try and ease yourself into it - it is a lifestyle change…

As long as you're comfortable with the level of exercise that you're doing then it's not too much. As long as you're pushing yourself, building fitness and (most importantly) enjoying yourself then keep at it!
-
I wouldn't worry so early on if you haven't seen weight loss. These things do take time and with a relatively small amount to lose (8lbs) you can afford a less aggressive goal and shoot for 0.5lb a week weight loss.

Those types of shows on Netflix are great for entertainment purposes but I've yet to see one that uses credible scientific studies to back them up (except The China Study - they love that even though it's been highly discredited for lack of control measures). Don't base your diet/health choices off of television shows -…

If she's already getting embarrassed by doing exercise because of her weight then she's probably aware that it's an issue. The best thing you can do as a parent is set a good example (as you appear to be doing) and educate her on healthy living in terms of keeping active and making better food choices (not necessarily…

I'm glad you posted this as our whole family's birthdays are centred across a two month period and I was wondering how I'd cope! My plan of action will be to accept tastes of everything but focus on portions and not going overboard. I know how hard my Mum will have worked on the cooking and I know how delicious it will be,…

I've learned that I know how to eat well and enjoy eating well, but that my portions are absolutely insane! It's still my biggest learning curve at the moment. Oh, and that my digital scale was THE BEST £11.99 purchase I could have ever made...EVER.
