genetics tends to play a pretty big role too. So true, everything doesn't work for everyone, but I think the point is to not go health nut. Some people can live a long healthy life on meat and potatoes, others need to make sure they eat healthy.

my grandmother smoked all her life, barely drank water (got it from her coffee), ate meats that were left out over night... and she's still alive in her 90s!!! And she still smokes!!!

tried eating clean, only to find out that "clean" eating is not exactly clear and just about every food available has something to offer. Cutting calories is a lot more clear cut. There's always something wrong with the food, even before the industrial age, there was something wrong with the food. I'm just going to take my…

going low carb here. Mostly protein, dairy and veggies, since my new office job makes it very hard to active- need to accommodate for the lack of activity.

I do question the studies that show vegans/vegetarians living longer as compared to who exactly? People who eat the typical western diet, or do they actually compare them to people who eat a balanced diet? Maybe someone should start up another thread discussing this. As for the actual intended topic: But the best ways to…

I count them, if nothing else to keep track of the vitamins and minerals that are present in the vegetables. Nutrient intake is just as important as calorie intake, since nutrients are beneficial to health and weight loss. Though with that in mind, I probably should be keeping track of my supplements as well. Also, even…

I was always a little overweight. In highschool, I was 140-150lbs and then college made it up to 170-180lbs. But lost 30 and got down to 150lbs. But I gained 20lbs back by letting myself go and eating too many calories from bad foods. So I started trying to watch my calories and what I ate, and dropped the high calories…

I see no reason why you couldn't loose weight on a vegetarian/vegan diet. Its all about calories in calories out. Just make sure that the plant based foods you're eating are good. If you're not allergic to gluten, whole wheat is really good, eat foods like beans, rice (brown or white- both are good), oats...etc Even though…

Feel your pain, I went from 182 to 187 in a matter of a couple of days. I have a feeling its from eating undercooked brown rice and lentils. Now that I got them fully cooked, the fiber should easier to digest. You could have water weight, it happens. Just keep doing what you're doing and it'll come off.

I just make sure I don't go too much over my caloric intake. Diet is the huge part of weight loss, exercise just makes the weight loss look good, and helps you feel good. But I also skip dinner, which also helps. Right now, my weight loss has really slowed down now that I have a job, but even though its slow, it's still…

this is good news.... how? Yeah, for one I'll still be eating chocolate. Also, the cocoa itself has amazing benefits, its the cream and sugar that kills you. Besides, chocolate didn't make me fat, eating too much and not exercising did. And if you're a chocoholic, chocolate is never too expensive ;)

5'3" and my main goal is 150 lbs since that's the maximum weight to height ratio joining the Navy will allow. If I go lower- bonus! Though, if they let me in, I'll just loose more weigh at boot camp anyway. But like I said, I would not complain if I lost another 30 lbs after that. I may even shoot for it- most likely will.…

Actually, I'm pretty much the opposite, I'll try to get most of my calories in the breakfast and lunch, so I don't have to have dinner. I find not having dinner or a light dinner, if my earlier meals were too light, I sleep better.

1,750 of delicious, refreshing calories :d

Cheese is gooooooooood. So long as its not the velveeta/American cheese plastic crap, you're good. 11 years ago, I traveled to France and stayed with a french family there, and they had cheese every night after dinner, they seemed to be pretty healthy and slim to me.

Crap, we're taking the wrong thing from Japan. Instead of their diet life style, we're instead taking their anime and manga, while eating sushi with a side of cupcakes and cookies, flushed down with taro flavored boba smoothie. I can definitely see adopting the Japanese lifestyle, if it meant a healthier 'merica.

I eat breakfast, I like my fried eggs and coffee, its dinner I usually skip.

it actually works pretty good for me. Especially when I don't eat at night. I actually prefer this over eating frequently or eating three meal a day.

But you're getting a lot of your sugar from fruit. So long as you're not getting sugar from the refined foods like candy bars and sodas, then you should be fine. I go over my daily sugar requirements all the time and I'm still losing weight.

I got fat because I ate too much and didn't work out as much as I should. I'd go to school or work, and go get Taco Bell or Jack in the Box for lunch, or buy prepackaged food, because I was too lazy to make my own food. And I can tell you what, there are just as many obese non-christians as there are obese christians.…
