I'm Nicola, I'm 39 and from Manchester. I've lost 12lbs so far, 5 stone to go! I work in theatre and I'm getting married in 10 months.

I second the other posts. Seek therapy as soon as you can. You shouldn't be 'dieting' or trying to lose weight til you've worked through some of your issues. Good luck :)

I'm a vegan too :) I've been vegan for 15 years and veggie for another 7 before that. But I'm pretty lucky in that most people I know don't question me or criticise my food choices. My parents were confused by it at first, but got used to it quite quickly. My fiance is omni but he's very accepting and mostly eats veggie in…

Not really these days. The main reason would be that since my arthritis has been bad I can't manage to stand up for that long anymore. I go out to a club once a month when my fiance DJs, and they often have bands on, but otherwise I mainly go to theatre and burlesque shows.

Yeah, as I've already mentioned in the older thread, I've been listening to rock and metal since I was 13, which is when Appetite for Destruction by GNR came out. That album changed my life - no exaggeration. I listen to a really diverse mix of music nowadays but metal will always be my first love.

I got engaged in may, and hoping to get married in a year's time - not booked anything yet, but we're planning to elope so there isn't too much to worry about. (This does not mean I'm not already worrying about the cost!)

My fiance and I will exchange cards and have a nice dinner at home, that's all. We don't do anything extravagant, I'd rather save that for our anniversary!

My fiance is heavier than the recommended weight for his height too, although he has less to lose than me to get into the healthy weight range. He does want to lose weight too, but he isn't as committed as I am yet, and I don't think calorie counting really suits him. I think it's a very fine line between loving your…

Your net is just your total calories for the day. When the number turns red, you've exceeded your calories for the day, ie you've eaten too many. You should still lose weight regardless of sodium or sugar - but I don't track those so someone else may have a more detailed answer on that one. And as for how do you know if…

I have osteoarthritis in my hip (I'm 39). It's due to a problem from birth so I always knew it would happen at some point, but the diagnosis was still tough. When you are relatively young, it feels very unfair and quite isolating to have what is regarded as an 'old person's' condition. I have never been very sporty, partly…

I'm getting married next year too, hopefully January (we haven't booked it yet - I know, lagging behind!) I initially thought I wouldn't diet for the wedding, and I'm still a big advocate for loving yourself as you are if at all possible, but I just started to feel generally uncomfortable at the weight I am now and the…

I'm a vegan! And yes, eating low carb is really difficult. I did a stint on full-on low carb (using Rose Elliot's book), but it was just too repetitive, which is why I'm just counting calories now. I buy a lot of fake meat burgers, sausages etc for protein, and I do eat a lot of tofu. I love tofu, but even I got a bit sick…

Yeah, I think I qualify as a 'rocker', although I hate that word! Any Manchester or NW based metalheads might know my fiancé as the main DJ at Caged Asylum (now Rock Asylum) at the Ruby Lounge.
