No one I know is fasting.

It's easy really - you just start today. Log what you've already eaten - and if you don't like the way the numbers look, then spend a few minutes planning a better day tomorrow. And if you don't eat as you planned tomorrow? Well, you can't change that once its done, but you can change what you eat for the next meal. One…

I'm not sure that trying to drop 20 pounds while coming into the last few weeks of training for a half marathon is a good idea. Having run one a few weeks ago, I actually ate at around maintenance for the last few weeks - the last thing I wanted was to feel low on energy while I was trainings so hard. I'd suggest that you…

Yes. A calorie is a measurement of energy. That's all. A calorie isn't good, bad, evil, healthy, unhealthy or any other subjective word you would like to use. Just as a kilometre is a kilometre - a measure of distance, not good, evil etc. It just is. If you are trying to debate the fact that some foods have greater…

I think you are mixing up BMR and TDEE here. BMR is the cals needed to sustain you is you lie around in a coma all day (more or less). TDEE is the your BMR multiplied by an activity level factor. So, even if you have a sedentary lifestyle, you need to multiply your BMR x 1.2, THEN you subtract 500 cals/day in order to lose…

You are talking about two different things here. BMR is the amount of calories that you will burn just lying around in a coma all day. Many people suggest that you don't eat less than this amount when you are trying to lose weight. If you like this idea, go for it, manually set your goals to your BMR amount. MFP uses your…

That doesn't mean that the whole pack will have zero cals - just that one serving size has under 5 cals (that's what I've heard about US labelling laws anyway, Australia is a bit more rational about it). So if you eat a whole pack of something that has "zero cals" per serve you might in fact be eating 20 or 50 or 100 cals.…

Now is the time to work on those abs that you don't have! Hope the foot is better soon.

If you're feeling good at your current weight, then don't worry too much about BMI, it's just a guideline and doesn't suit every body type (especially if you are building muscle).

I tried durian from a roadside stall when we were on holiday in Bali. I was expecting a truly terrible smell but I didn't think it was too bad. The flavour was pretty good, but the texture was a little too.... slimy? mucousy? I don't know how to describe it, but I'm not a big fan. My husband wouldn't go near it, lucky our…

I'm all for being accurate when you log - but the amount of calories you would be taking in from a few fruit slices in a water jug are so low that I just wouldn't worry.
-
I suggest that you eat something easy - peanut butter sandwich for example. Don't stress about eating every last calorie - while I think you do need to eat to stay healthy, if this is an one off it won't hurt you. Don't work out today, if you've eaten so little, chances are you'll pass out and that won't be good thing!…

Fruit, nuts, homemade muffins (not prepackaged but I make a batch, wrap them individually, store them in the freezer and just grab one and go), boiled eggs (5 minutes to cook and they come prepacked in a handy carrying shell!), cheese and crackers (you can buy ready to eat packs but it's much cheaper to buy them separately…

Mine was a bridesmaid's dress (second wedding, so I didn't want white). It was a gorgeous dress and much cheaper than wedding dresses. If you aren't after a conventional white dress, then looking at evening dresses or bridesmaid's dresses can save you a heap of money.

I'm not surprised, I find that anything under about 1400 net calories (that means eating 1400 cals plus extra when I exercise) leaves me hungry, grumpy and not nice to be around. Chances are that you can lose weight very successfully eating much more than 1200 cals. First thing - are you eating extra when you exercise? If…

Fruit, veggies, meat, nuts, rice...
-
Another point to consider - when MFP recommneds that you "eat 1200 cals" - this actually means "eat 1200 cals plus extra when you exercise". Most people here exercise at least a little bit which means that you would rarely be eating just 1200. I see so many people say "I eat what MFP recommends" but then qualify it by…

Eh, different strokes.... Low carb is not for me, but lots of people swear they feel wonderful on it - so, good for them! Don't waste time worrying about what other people eating (or not eating), eat what makes you feel good!
-
Hell no, not EVERYONE - only people who are tiny already OR who don't have much to lose and who choose an unrealistic weight loss goal. I've never had a 1200 calorie goal and never will, that is just too little food for me to eat on a regular basis. Having said that - I don't care what number other people choose to eat -…

No, there isn't a way to share recipes in the database, you can only access your own. (I'm pretty sure there is a way to copy a meal from one person to another if you are using the app, but not for recipes as far as I'm aware).
-
You need to enter the amount that is in the recipe. As your recipe calls for 3/4 cup, you can find an entry that has a serving size of 1 cup sugar and you would enter a quantity of 0.75 (eg. 3/4). You do this for all the ingredients and then you enter the number of muffins that the recipe makes (12 for example). Once you…

It is a delicate subject - and I don't want anyone to tell me that I'm putting on weight (I know that already!) so I wouldn't do it to anyone else.

hehehe. thanks!

Take off the skin and thinly slice the orange flesh to go in a salad with baby spinach/rocket, red capsicum, walnuts and feta. Make a dressing with some orange juice, olive oil, dijon mustard and maybe a dash of white wine vinegar.

Sounds risky to me - there is a good chance you are going to change the dynamic of all your joints - ankle, knee, hip etc which could lead to injury. Have you asked a health professional whether this is a good idea for you? (I know it would be a REALLY bad idea for me).
-
But..... why has no one posted the negative poop cartoon??

Hmmm, interesting, you're probably right about the sugar alcohols. The one I tried was a blend of cane sugar with stevia but I'm not sure what else was in it - must check out the labels at the supermarket. Maybe I'll give the pure stevia a go, thanks for the suggestion.

Tequila (or vodka or white rum) with lime and soda. Preferably fresh juice squeezed out of a piece of lime, not sugary lime from a bottle. Beer - I drink Pure Blonde if it's available because I like the taste. And it's lower in cals than lots of other beers so that's a bonus. Cider - half a pint rather than a pint. Usually…
