There is no difference between a pound of muscle and a pound of fat! (yeah...and there is no difference between a pound of muscle and a pound of feathers...and being 'gassy' makes you lighter on the scale...and only purified, triple filterd, natural sping water with reverse osmosis counts as 'water')

The issue of child and downstairs neighbors does pose quite an issue...but keep in mind that you can do it! Key think for helping on not gaining back--make sure you take your lunch and have healthy, but filling, snacks all the time at work. That way you don't double your lunch intake with cafeteria/fast food junk and a…

I do average daily net for the week, instead of focusing on every day. (So if I eat low on Monday, I can eat more on Tuesday...but if I do bad or eat up all of my calories Mon-Fri, then I don't get to splurge on the weekend) This has been good and makes me not feel so much like I am on any kind of restriction.

I think the difference is coming from your activity input. You say that you have a desk job, but you entered moderately active. At most, I would have the exercise cause me to be lightly active (as opposed to sedentary), but I think I would maintain the sedentary activity selection due to the exercise being only 1 hour a…

IMO/IMHO-In my (humble) opinion IDK-I don't know OP-Original poster OT-off topic IIRC-If I remember correctly ROFL(MAO)-Rolling on floor laughing (my *kitten* off) LAWL-Leaning agains wall laughing LOL-Laugh out loud TTFN! (ta ta for now!)

i agree with other posters that could be an intolerance. Don't think TOM would cause your stomach to bloat unless was in direct correlation with your legs swelling. (press on your shin bones...does a 'divit' stay in it after you let go. If so, then you are retaining fluids...typically from high sodium/TOM/diabetes/heart…

I was on a 3-4 month plateau doing everything under the sun to get over it...I think the thing that helped the most was cutting my cardio in half (7 hours to 3, still 5-6 days a week). Since then, I have read in quite a few articles about people over doing their cardio and hitting this same thing. Review and see if you can…

Almost all of my loss is due to my elliptical. I LOVE IT! Just make sure and mix it up, doing HIIT somedays and continuous level others. My downfall was that I didn't include strength training early in my journey, so now close to goal weight, but still a lot of fluff that I need to do strength training to get rid of. I…

Thanks for the replies and links- Just to clarify-I am not looking for a goal weight loss, I am looking at a goal fat loss. I am at or close to my goal weight and with toning up muscle and losing fat, I don't expect any weight loss, so that wouldn't be a good goal. I like being goal driven, and knowing that I can expect to…

Thanks! It was fairly easy going until the last 20 pounds, then it was a lot of trial and error. Thankfully the 'error' part didn't make me gain weight, but just took a while to get me over some plateaus. As someone else posted...I used the MFP net goal for the main part, then, when I hit my longest plateau, I used my TDEE…

I think you got your answer, but example from what happened with me (multiple times) when I had a lot to lose- 1100-1300, I would lose consistantly less than 1100, I would not lose at all less than 1000, I would typically start gaining weight Get back to 1300-would start losing again

Don't have enough time to read all, so someone may have already posted... It is better to not have a consistant intake everyday. Cycling/zig zaging your net makes it where your body doesn't become accustomed to the new net intake as easily and, therefore, prevents your body from attempting to work better with the fewer…

Yeah, don't listen to MFP about nutrition recommendations...a lot of the entries are missing a large portion of their nutrition bits (esp vit/mins). I would only worry about basic supplements unless you have labwork to show the need for otherwise (so, basic multivitamin with iron)

I can't see your diary, but it sounds like you are going over your net calories for the day. You should have a few calories left over (not be red) after counting exercise (if any). The number isn't an exact science anyways, but it should be pointing in the right direction...

I don't know about repairing damage. I would think it would help offset any damage that has been done, but I don't know if I believe that the damage is permanant anyways (don't think there is enough research on it)

Wow--someone is a little stressed out. And are you really comparing sharing funny posts re: a bad publicity campaign to someone falsely crying rape? REALLY? wow...yep, and you probably believe that raped women can't get prenant too... I don't see where anyone is 'playing with people's minds' on this thread. You need to…

YES! :frown: Taking too much potassium can cause a life threatening heart dysrhythmia, so do not take mega doses unless told to by your doctor (look up hyperkalemia if interested) :frown: To the fish oil question--there is a lot of research that says that the stuff that makes up fish oil is important for muscles (as well…

oops, responded to wrong thread, lol

I did. I am very picky, started out not liking any fruit or veggie nor water. I lost my first 40 pounds just by starting exercise and eating whatever, but staying in my calories (ate fries, chicken fried chicken, whatever) But...as I got closer to my goal, I have had to change that to get my weight moving. I now have a…

LOL-this one is a hard one to respond to, but is useful information to anyone that is just starting out or that hasn't learned these things yet. I used to measure on a spreadsheet my daily net macros, TOM, weight, BMs (since was only going once a week) to try and figure out what causes my variations. I did this for about 6…

34 here! Am amazed at how many people I find my age that act like there is nothing left but to sit at home and get fat and old! This is the best time! You should have experience to know what to do and a good job to be able to go and do it! (If you don't have a good job, then consider going back to school or get some…

Same as most of the responders, just curious of what your body fat % is. BMI is an outdated, but easily understood and calculated tool, so is still used. If you are just starting strength training, don't get frustrated at the 3 pounds you gain in the first week...this is just from swollen muscles and other things that…

There are a lot of research that says having the same calorie net every day is not good for your diet (reason so many articles recommend cycling or zig zag dieting). If you only net 1400 cals a day, your body becomes accustomed to that and will be more efficient on that net. The article that I read recommended having 2…

Sagging jeans... And, what really cracks me up...sagging skinny jeans (looks like they got a load in their pants)

Bump for later. Been thinking about it since I have lost most of mine w/ the weight loss. Just seem a little 'deflated', but still point forward, lol

There are differences in frame sizes (otherwise, why would they need a 'petite' clothing line?). Some women have more of a 'manly' frame and some men have more of a 'girly' frame, but too many times people use the excuse 'I just have big bones' as the reason that they are morbidly obese on the scale. I have broad hips…

I don't have time to read/research your stuff (although it appears your diary is locked anyways), but I wanted to add that I was doing about 70-95 minutes a day, 6 days a week and was on a plateau the whole time. When I came down to 3-4 days of 45 minutes of intervals/high intensity, I started losing again. I don't know if…

due to your work/daily activity, not counting your exercise, to lose 2 lb/week...1200 is right. To be able to lose 2 pounds, you have to cut 1000 calories a day out of your diet (approximate calories to burn one pound is 3500 calories...x 2=7000. Divide that over the week, that is 1000/cals/day that you have to cut). It…

My mistake on the B12, but as for needing to take fat soluable vitamins with meals is a controversial topic with different findings. Some have been shown to have better absorption w/ meals containing fat, while others have shown the same absorption on an empty stomach. I prefer to just take mine with dinner to cover both…
