Nope. Not pickles. I agree, log everything. That way you can look back and see what you've done. this isn't a diet, and "free foods" are part of a diet. This is a lifestyle change.

Go to work in my bathrobe. Something about a dress code or some such crazy thing.

Well I don't know. I was married to a dumbell and it sure hurt me in a lot of ways. But I did get the definition of a sorry as$ed character.

My lunch time at work is 11:30, and I can't change it. then I teach all afternoon, leave work at 5, 30 minute bike ride home, then walk the dog for another 30-40 minutes, because if I put it off I won't do it at all. By the time I get dinner cooked and eaten it's well after 7. It would be lovely if I could eat every three…

you are talking to adults. too bad you couldn't find an adult topic.

They are not a true nut because they are part of the legume family.

I have gained 2 lbs on average in the past week, go figure. What does this mean? A 2 pound gain in a week is not an average. I'm 58, 12 years post hyst, 5 feet tall, and I've just lost 21 pounds in about 4 months. You need carbs, and you need fat, so don't cut them out completely. I was trying to do low carb, high protein,…

I work with a woman who is about a foot taller than my five feet even, and who is massively overweight too. She is a bully. She bullies people all the time in every way. She constantly gives me clothing, saying that it's too big for her but it will probably fit me. (I always take it, because I know how to sew and make…

Ha ha I caught what you said!

A typical lunch for me to take to work: stir fried onion, garlic, carrot, mushrooms, and zucchini with spaghetti sauce and a bit of grated cheese, a glass of milk, 25 grams of unsalted soda crackers, an apple and two mangosteen, and a watermelon salad. How do I upload the picture? I don't see a place here that tells me to…

If that's America, I'm glad I'm not American.

Nope, you're not the only one. I was doing 1400, but I recently set my MFP to take off 1.5 pounds per week, so it set me back to 1200 and stepped my exercise goals up by quite a bit. I'm glad, because I found it hard to eat 1400, even without exercise. Sometimes I eat back my calories, sometimes I don't. I always end up…

Thanks!

Even if you don't have a loss, remember that you ate well for a whole week. That's an NSV (non scale victory).

That was then, this is now.

Why is pasta "bad" for you? Any food is fine if it's eaten in moderation.

At my first 10 pounds I rewarded myself with a fit ball and some hand weights. I'm 1.2 pounds away from 20 pounds, and at that time I'm going to investigate the possibility of laser surgery for my eyes. Ultimate goal for 2013 is 40 pounds. Not sure what that reward will be.

Nope, it isn't about telling myself I'm not hungry. It's about not being physically to eat more than about 1000 calories most days, or I will vomit. Some days I can eat more than others, and I'm trying to find more calorie dense foods. I want to take off this wieght, but I know if I don't eat enough it will be much more…

Why do you apologise? You put up a stupid post and then apologise for it. Are you sorry you put it up or just sorry that it was such a stupid thing to do?

I'm 58 and have been taking meds for high BP for maybe 6-7 years now.Since taking off some weight and getting exercise my BP has gone down into the normal range, and after consulting with the doctor, we will attempt to take me off them in a few more months. Like so many others have said, take the meds, work with your…

Well I haven't cut out anything. And I'm not going to. I have cut down on the amounts I eat of almost everything, except veggies, but to cut them out completely sets me up for failure. On the weekends I normally eat out once on Saturday and once on Sunday, and what I order is determined by the amount of bicycling I've done…

If you need painkillers before exercising, don't you think that might be your body's way of telling you that you're overdoing it?

Expanding palettes won't do much good, unless folks want to use them for plates. Palettes are the boards that artists use to hold their paints. Now expanding palates might make more sense.

I'm with these folks.

Absolutely not! I can't wear jeans to work, so that's too much money for me. that's too much for me anyway, since I do most of my clothing shopping at thrift stores.

I'm from NS and live in Vietnam. Je parle Francais aussi.

And a million bucks from me!

First, I don't know why you're gaining. Second, don't think "cheat". The goal is to learn to live well and have a healthy relationship with food. There are no forbidden foods if they fit into your day. I hope for you that one day soon you'll see the weight drop off in big numbers.

The folly in any such argument is the acute nature of these studies. 12 weeks, 12 days? what about 12 years? TEF is definitely a valid argument for protein and alcohol being more thermogenic than the other substrates. Let's leave alcohol out, since this is a fitness/weight loss forum. Why would we leave alcohol out? A…

Well this is insulting. I started having periods 47 years ago. Why do a need some little upstart to tell me about them? Do you think I haven't figured this out yet?
