  • I've lost quite a bit of weight and let me tell you, it took me several months for my brain to realize that my body is no longer 250+ lbs, that I am no longer obese nor overweight, even. And yes, shopping was a pain at first, but I learned to try on everything I wanted to buy and then get a size smaller than that, because…
  • Yup. Tons and tons of it. And stretch marks. Yay.
  • 5'5'' and a marathon-trainer. I'd say to maintain I'd have to eat about 2200 cals a day, though I am trying to lose a couple pounds, so I have my base of 1500 + at least half of what I earn from exercise, which can add up to over 3000 cals on some days. If I wasn't so active, I think my maintenance intake is around…
  • I hate the gym as well, so I run outside. Find an exercise you love and stick with it. Exercise is more about weight-loss.
  • Yep, my goal is to run 1000 miles (will easily reach this as I am training for two marathons this year, the latter being a more competitive endeavor), walk 150 miles, and bike 500 miles. Add me on MFP!
  • No... you'll gain weight by consuming an excess of calories. I lost over 100 pounds through low-carbing it and once I switched to a more standard diet, yes, I gained some water weight back, but lost it again right away because I kept counting calories.
  • The advice I've read everywhere is NOT to run if you feel any discomfort that bothers you. If you're experiencing pain that bothers you enough to consider switching from a full to a half marathon, for the sake of safety, do it. A half marathon is still really ****ing amazing, and you can always train to beat your PR for…
  • Weight loss aside, how are you performing adequately? I'm currently training for a marathon and eat a MINIMUM of 1500 a day... on long runs I'll eat as much as 3000! And I'm still losing. I can't imagine how you function well as a runner when you eat so little. Food is fuel, remember that. If you up your caloric intake,…
  • I'm training for the Cellcom Marathon, which is May 18th. I'm also doing a 100 Push-ups Challenge, in addition to core workouts 5 days a week. I would love to have finished my weight-loss journey by then and instead focus on maintenance. Oh, I recently became ovo-lacto vegetarian and could use this challenge to maintain…
  • You're definitely not eating enough, then! 1250 should be your base--what you eat on days you do not exercise--and that's kind of a low base. You need to eat back some of your exercise calories. I tend to eat back half of what MFP says I burned, and then I round down. For example, my base is 1500 calories (which is closer…
  • You're tired because you're not eating enough calories. On days you exercise an hour, try eating around 1400-1500 calories, then on the weekends eat around 1300-1400. You're eating way too little and all it's going to amount to is you hurting yourself and/or crashing, caving, and binging.
  • All of this is so misinformed, I don't have the energy to pick through it all and search for sources to correct you.
  • I'm currently doing several 30 Day Challenges all at once. It's definitely working.
  • I'm just like you; I love to be outside, do most of my workouts outside, and do not have access to a gym membership. I also live in the midwest, so winters suck. While I will be starting to marathon train on January 27th (hoping the temperature is bearable by then), right now I only run outside when it's decent out (at…
  • Can I join? I've lost over 100 pounds and still have a rather significant amount to go (my goal states 130, but for marathon-running purposes, I want to get down to around 120).
  • I have 25-35 pounds to go and my boobs are like deflated balloons filled with Jell-O. And I'm 21. The skin around it reminds me of tissue paper, the way it looks so thin and wrinkly. I used to be a DD, now I can barely fill a B cup. It used to really bother me; now, not so much. What really bothers me is all the loose skin…
  • You know the caloric differences of the same type of food that comes from a different brand. You also have the ability to fairly accurately guess the amount of calories in an item or meal by sight.
  • For me, it's hard to maintain because sometimes it feels like I'm still dieting and it's hard for me to feel like I'm missing out on things. I've lost quite a bit of weight so far, but I've actually been maintaining for about a year after losing the motivation to continue losing. During that time, certain things changed in…
  • I love how everyone is trying to educate the certified fitness instructor with college education in kinesiology and nutrition. Losing a large amount of weight doesn't make anyone an expert, and I speak for myself here as well.
  • Hahaha. Not to mention uneducated and insane.
  • The best cleanse that actually yields effective results is called a caloric deficit and healthy, active lifestyle.
  • You need carbs + fat, and lots of it. Aim for 3k cals/day, more if you can manage it.
  • I suspect you're not logging every single thing you eat, including the butter/oil you cook your foods in, any dressings, drinks, etc. All of it can add up. Like other posters are saying, if you have difficulty reaching 1200 calories a day, then you wouldn't be in the position where you need to lose weight in the first…
