  • I'm auditioning for a role in a musical with a local theater company... the audition is in August and the show goes up towards the end of the year. I have a decent chance of getting the part... but it involves a LOT of dancing and I'm 100 pounds overweight, so it will be hard to pull off if I don't start eating healthier…
  • thank you for posting, you're an inspiration! I'm in the same situation... how did you overcome the exhaustion and low metabolism from the Hashi's???
  • Congratulations!!! How in the world did you find the self control to make such a big change in your eating habits? The hardest part for me has been sticking to it... I have an incredibly stressful job and work long hours, and I always end up turning to carbs as a pick-me-up when I know I shouldn't.
  • 1. MFP 2. cauliflower rice 3. making sure at least 1 meal each day is mostly veggies (usually a big salad) 4. Primal Kitchen salad dressings 5. Pinterest for Paleo recipes 6. teeny snack-sized baggies to bring small portions of nuts and other snacks to work (I'll eat too much if I keep a whole container in my desk) 7. a…
  • Cauliflower hummus! Swap the cauliflower in for the usual chickpeas... absolutely delicious.
  • There are so many threads on these boards about W30, do a quickie search and hopefully the different conversations can help point you in the right direction with your specific questions. I did one (not for weight loss) and loved it, you'll have more info that you could ever dream of in those threads.
  • Do you have a Whole Foods or Wegmans nearby? Both of them carry Hail Merry tarts... they're paleo and absolutely delicious. My husband and I split one a few times a week.
  • AMEN, sister!!!! *applause* Thank you for the inspiration. Yours is exactly the mindset (and success) I'm going for.
  • Fellow Westie here! I don't dance as much as you because I have a crazy work schedule... but love WCS, Lindy, Salsa, and Hip-Hop. I'd suggest booking an appointment with a personal trainer, to get expert tips on how to improve what you're looking to do... then maybe do a follow-up with them every couple of months to switch…
  • I stopped bringing it into the house. My rule is I can drink wine when I'm out at a restaurant, but don't need it tempting me at home. Too many calories and I sleep horribly when I drink it!
  • I am as well. There are some really good threads on here with discussions about how to manage weight loss, fatigue, etc with hypo.
  • Since it's winter, I'll take some hot apple cider with a shot of butterscotch schnapps. NOM.
  • Try eShakti... their clothes come in a huge range of sizes, and you can customize them (sleeve length, hem length, neckline) for an extra ten bucks. I've been really happy with the few pieces I've gotten from them so far.
  • You guys are amazing. Thank you for sharing your stories! It gives me hope that I can eventually overcome (or at least manage) the situation. Just in the couple of days since I first posted, I've been doing more stretching and it seems to help a bit. Baby steps!
  • Here's another take on cauliflower that my husband and I LOVE... cauliflower hummus! Great for dipping veggies in! https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/low-carb-cauliflower-hummus-recipe/
  • my husband and I are Paleo, so we stick to their riced veggies and their frozen turkey burgers.
  • I went bra shopping today for the first time since I started to lose weight... my bras were now on the tightest set of hooks, and I wasn't sure if it was from my weight loss or because they were getting old. The ladies in the store helped me find my current correct size, and I did go down a band size (yay!) but nothing…
  • I wish mine had said something... I saw my medical records recently, and saw that years of visits had included the insurance code for "morbid obesity". If I was clinically that bad, she should have raised the red flag.
  • I work for a large corporation that has a big emphasis on health. Last month, they sent an email announcement out to all employees that they were accepting applications for "wellness champions" at each campus around the world... these would be employees volunteering to lead wellness activities at their site, focusing on…
  • Could probably be done, but you'd screw up your metabolism so much (you'd have to have an unhealthy calorie deficit) that after your vacation you'd gain those pounds back and then some. Don't worry so much about a number on the scale -- eat healthier and exercise a bit more, and you'll head off on your trip feeling…
  • Oh god, I used to LOVE DDR!!!! I wonder if my old pads still work...

  • Thank you so much for sharing! After a lifetime of failed diets, I just recently started tackling my problem from the psychology approach -- looking into the science of habit change. It's completely changed the way I see my situation, and I feel like I finally have the tools I need to be successful. Yay!
  • I was able to enjoy ice cream yesterday with zero guilt. I've been craving a cone from my childhood ice cream shop -- chocolate soft-serve in a sugar cone, with chocolate sprinkles. Made plans with my husband to take a road trip out there yesterday... I got up early and went walking to add some exercise calories, and…

  • That color is SPECTACULAR on you! And congratulations on your success, you're rocking those suits! :D
  • A few years ago I taught an hour-long hooping class, and one of the ladies was wearing a fitness wristband that counted calories burned... it said 600 calories at the end of the hour. I usually estimate a bit less under Cardio, just to be conservative in my count.
  • Last night I ended up having to stay late at the office, until almost 9pm. Before, when I had an unexpected late work day, I'd hit the vending machine down the hall for a big bag of Doritos and pouch of cookies "to tide me over until dinner". Then I'd hit a drive-thru on the way home because "I worked hard and I'm…
  • If you're on Pinterest, there are a TON of amazing W30 recipes there. Really helped me and my husband to stick to it for the whole month! Some of our faves that you can search for: buffalo chicken zucchini boats, "the best ranch dressing ever", chipotle ranch dressing, paleo breakfast frittata, chicken with balsamic cream…
