  • I'm still trying to figure out what's in it!
  • Diabetes runs in my family, and before I started this low carb diet, I had blood sugar levels indicating pre-diabetes. It is down to a healthy level, and got there within the first two months of the diet. Don't panic - you look young, and type-2 diabetes can almost always be controlled by diet. A low carb diet will bring…
  • You might want to go to the Atkins site and print yourself a carb counter. It lists net carbs.
  • I've been on a LOW carb diet (20 a day) and have been losing well on it, but nuts and seeds have an appreciable amount of carbs, and cheese even has some carbs. You may be eating way more carbs than you think you are. And even though a calorie is not just a calorie, they do count. I eat 1200 calories a day. You could eat…
  • We grow our own healthy grass-fed beef, so I don't rinse mine, but you could save your rinse water one time, refrigerate, then see how much fat solidifies on top. If you end up with a tablespoon, you know you have saved 120 calories in fat.
  • Another low carber here. I used to be able to lose weight by counting calories alone, but since I've gotten older, low carb is the only thing that seems to help. Anyone who has blood sugar issues (not just those who have diabetes) will have a harder time losing weight in a traditional way. Diabetes runs in my family. I…
  • For some reason, I developed plantar fasciitis when living at the beach for two months, and doing a lot of barefoot walking. I hate to wear shoes all the time, so I was looking for another way. I had seen those boots that you wear at night that pull your toes up, which looked incredibly uncomfortable. Since I'm a stomach…
  • Yes, I have been on a low carb diet for almost four weeks. Before I got on MFP, I didn't realize how many carbs vegetables and nuts had, so I wasn't doing as low as I thought I was. My goal is 25 carbs a day, and I get those from vegetables and dairy(cheese, heavy cream, and sour cream). It's easy to stay on, because it's…
  • I'm not on the ketogenic diet, per se, but am eating between 25 and 35 carbs per day. It's been great for me. I normally seem to be weight loss resistant, but I lost three pounds last week, and more weight the first three weeks, but I don't know how much, because I didn't weigh in then. It has seriously tamed my appetite,…

  • Yes, I agree. We don't have to be afraid of saturated fats. I had the best blood test numbers when I was eating eggs every day, and sometimes bacon with them, and grass-fed beef for supper (because we raise it). It's just that people don't believe you when you say that.
  • I've been on a low carb, moderate protein, and high fat diet, and have been losing weight well! Every other diet I've tried has failed me, but this one seems to be working better than any I have tried! My hunger is less than at any other time, also! I've only been on myfitnesspal for less than two weeks, but have been…
  • Coconut oil. It's not low calorie, but it's very good for you, and also for weight loss. It will help balance out all the carbs in the popcorn, too. It tastes great on popcorn, with a little Celtic sea salt!
