I record the known cals in all my supplements, so if I need the calories I allow myself to go over 500 but not by more than the value of the supplements. I seldom need them all. I'll continue to plan for 500 since I don't track my food the other 5 days. If I ever decide to try a 4:3 week I might use the extra cals on one…

I started taking chelated magnesium some time ago for horrible leg cramps at night, sometimes several different muscles at the same time. Then switched to a Chelated Calcium 200mg/ChelatedMagnesium 100mg tab twice a day. Recently picked up Cal-Mag liquid capsule form (not chelated) which included VitD3, supposed to help…

I've started over, too. Today is Fast day #1 of the new cycle.

Bump Lots of great ideas, here.

BUMP I, too, was puzzled by NSV. Thanks.

Agree!

If looking for age specific friends, search the groups. There is both a 50+ group and a 60+ group on MFP. MFP is a great place to find just the kind of support you need at each point on your journey.

Congrats to them and their new life in the States. I hope the time comes when everyone achieves the same rights.
-
Thank you so much. Saved in my recipe file for later.

Sounds oh so yummy and cooling with the summer heat soon to arrive. Definitely going to try a mixed fruit version today! Thanks.
-
Even in the heat this only takes a few minutes. Add some cubed tofu for the protein and it's a main dish soup.

For "fun in the past", Sauder Village in Archbold is an easy drive from Toledo.

ginger is good. Ginger tea or candied ginger. I keep it on hand and only need a tiny piece.

Measure the amount of oil remaining in the pan and subtract it from the half cup. That tells you how much of the oil you consumed (minus possibly a bit more if you drained the fillet on paper.)
-
You can modify the levels you want by selecting custom goals and entering your own numbers. The difference will have to come from somewhere, though. Perhaps fats? Be sure to get protein which is satisfying, and go for veggies or the low glycemic fruits as snacks because they won't spike and crash your blood sugar.

To rjjarvis--thanks for starting this discussion on one of the general groups. To anyone considering this plan and wanting continued discussion and support, there is a 5:2 fast group on MFP and at least 2 on Facebook.

Welcome to the community! Browse the topics and groups that interest you and make friends. Lots of mutual support that way.

Hi, JC, Try some modified arm and leg exercises while seated or lying down. Senior know about this. Not as good as your normal routine, but any movement that you can do is good and helps maintain strength and stamina. Browse through the various groups here for ideas about different food or exercise plans, or for friends in…

Born in Bryan, OH, (NW corner of the state,) OSU grad, now living in Toledo. Check to list of groups: there is one for Ohio.

This sounds delicious! I will definitely try it but with no salt added tomatoes and peanut butter. That should cut the sodium down a lot. Thanks for sharing this.
-
Same problem with BP and need to reduce sodium. Some of my pantry staples include: --Keystone Brand Chicken Broth with no salt added --Kitchen Basics Vegetable Stock with no salt added --Kroger Brand Diced Tomatoes in juice with no salt added Check around and you may find other brands in your area.

Friend request has been sent. In the fall and winter I knit hats for local veterans. I like to knit my own socks. This summer I will make dishcloths to donate through my knitting guild to local organizations finding homes for homeless families. I'm also working on a lacy knit "Hapi Wrap" (that's a sort of drapey cover up)…
-
Oh, and I love to knit, too.

Yes, there are other seniors here. I'm also 69 and snacking is one of my worst food habits. Friend me if you like, and make other friends, too. The encouragement helps.

I'm a retired teacher in Toledo, originally from Bryan. New to this group, currently following the 5:2 intermittent fasting method. Eventual goal to lose weight, but more important is to improve health.
