  • Heading to work shortly (I actually need to go into the office today); then endurance workout (2 hrs, cardio + strength combined) tonight. Happy that I planned ahead and made a double portion of dinner last night so I don't have to worry about cooming tonight.
  • So how do we do this - do we gave a specific checkin/weigh in day & time? And will we be tracking percentages along with lbs? :)
  • A Protein shake is always good (if you're way low on calories, blend in a banana, or some peanut butter). Steamed edamame Fat-free greek yogurt Hummus with baby carrots All are a good source of protein to-boot!
  • I make a healthy pizza with a thin, whole wheat pre-made pizza crust, organic pizza sauce, low-fat shredded mozza, turkey pepperoni and diced pineapple. Seriously tastes like "real" pizza, but 1/4 of the guilt.
  • I experimented.. It's cooking now, not sure how it'll come out: marinated chicken in fresh lime juice with a healthy dash of chipotle Tabasco sauce, then lightly rolled them in pancko bread crumbs - baking them on a cookie sheet. They're be served with salsa on top, with a side of spicy black beans, and a mixed greens…
  • I'm all for indulding yourself once in a while, but I don't necessarily schedule it, or make it a full day. If I can make it through a weekend and stay on track, all the better. But if I want to go out for beer and wings with friends one night, or have a little dessert once in a while, I try not to beat myself up over it…
  • Welcome! Congrats on the new baby and the (hopefully!) pending engagement!
  • I'll check mine when I get home tonight and post up the model. I love it; picked it up for like $25, and it's been great. And while I'm not sure if ALL of them do, mine syncs to the machine at the gym - no need to place your hands on the sensors - it picks up your pulse rate from your HRM.
  • Hahahahah, wow, glad I've missed THOSE updates!
  • I would move to Austin in a HEARTBEAT! *sigh*
  • Yeah, it's simple enough, it's just hard for me to not think to myself "Well if only eating 1200 calories is GOOD, then only eating 800 calories is BETTER." lol Thank you!
  • Yeah, I wrestled with this, too. Strenght training doesn't log or calculate calories burned. And the MFP calorie burn estimates are by many accounts too high or too low, depending on the person. Best bet is to get a HRM for a more accurate account. What I do is log my cardio as what it is, then make a second cardio entry…
  • I can only speak for myself, but I don't think anyone's working out just to be ABLE to eat more; I think the calories earned is more so you know you may NEED to eat more in order to fuel/recover if you've worked out particularly hard.
  • Generally clear liquors are your best bet: Vodka & Sprite Zero is no carb and low cal (Stoli orange is particularly yummy in Sprite Zero, or in Low Carb Red Bull) Spiced Rum & Diet Coke is my other favorite (though the spiced rum I believe has some carbs to it) Bud Select 55 is actually REALLY tasty for a light (super…
  • I agree 100%. And personally, I can't stand the "I just went to the bathroom," "I just walked outside to get the mail," "I just had sex with a goat" TMI-variety of Facebook posts anyway.... but as others have stated, we have the choice not to read them. I DO think that because this is such a warm, welcoming and yet…
  • You're hungry because your metabolism is awake! You're burning fat stores and/or energy in the form of carbs (depending upon what type of workout you did). Water is a good filler, but you also need to listen to your body - it might be calling out for more potassium or protein, if your workout was particularly rough.
  • There was just an interesting thread about this last night - in short, the posted indicated you should indeed eat them, because (as indicated above) the daily caloric intake was based on your weight, your normal activity, and the amount of weight you indicated you wanted to lose per week. Going too far below this (either…
  • I track it as well, and even though my fat and cholesterol numbers are very low, my sodium is horrific. The more processed a food is, changes are the higher sodium (or sugar) it'll have. The closer to nature the food is (i.e. Clean eating), the lower those numbers will be.
  • Um.... why... no! Whatever could you mean? :)
  • I agree! :) Icing on the cake... *tee hee*
  • Weekly Goal: 3500 Mon: 1,175 (Shakology 30 workout, 34 minutes cardio/treadmill, 45 minutes weight training) Tues: 577 (20 minutes cardio/treadmill, 40 minutes weight training) Thur:calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were burned) Sat:calories burned (how they were burned) Sun:calories…
  • Ok, this is interesting to me; My MFP daily calorie limit is 1240; today's workouts burned 1175. I *did* supplement my intake (HAD to - I'm ravenous!) with a couple extra snacks (a banana, edamame and skim milk), but I'm still at a 600 calories deficit for the day. Now I *was* excited about this deficit, felt good that I…

  • Ugh, I feel ya! Yesterday's workout for me was pretty brutal - but I love the soreness.... makes me feel like I DID something. Good job!
  • So cuuuuute! That lil pink nose is just precious! Congratulations!
  • Welcome! I think you'll find the forum a huge source of motivation and support.

  • Good morning and welcome!
  • Mmm mmm, same here. Brown starches in general just have a heartier, nuttier flavor.
  • Welcome!
