  • I formed my opinion about halfway through. Yes, you sound like you have a pretty severe issue with disordered thinking, eating, and body dysmorphia. Please, please get yourself to some health professionals (probably a therapist and a nutritionist) who are experienced in treating eating disorders, body image struggles, and…
  • Whoa, you are light!!! I have heard that Asian women, if shorter and thin, tend to be much smaller than the Western idea of "healthy" BMI/bodyweight. I guess if you eat healthily and feel good, then good for you! To everyone-- thank you all! I appreciate it! It sounds like many people so far are pretty similar to me-- with…
  • You look great! Congrats on maintaining for a year so far!
  • All right, there you go! Two extremely good reasons to be motivated and lose weight, right there! Think about your health, and being able to do cosplay in public, for a while-- then think of the alternative life if you don't lose weight. Ugh, right? I'm sure you will feel more motivated then-- and if you feel scared to…
  • You have got to be motivated for you. . . it has to come from something that's really important to you, to sustain motivation. See this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1261159-what-is-your-why?hl=what+is+your+why I must say that I've seen the person who responded second to this post and has been arguing…
  • I didn't notice this info when I read your post the first time--oops. Try logging those restaurant meals as honestly as you can (chain restaurants will sometimes have calorie info on their websites, and even if you can't get that info, search for things in the database and use the entries you find). It won't be super…
  • One good way to add more calories to your dinner would be to eat actual pasta instead of spaghetti squash-- squash is one of the lowest-calorie foods out there, even when it doesn't seem like it! How did you eat before when you gained the weight you are now wanting to lose? Did you drink a lot of your calories? If now that…
  • It depends on how gross I get and what I need to do afterwards. If, for example, I'm doing strength training first thing in the morning, I do that in comfy, cool clothes (since I work out at home or outdoors, no gym for me) and then clean up and change into work clothes. If I am going for a run on my lunch hour at work, I…
  • It would completely depend on what mood I'm in. Sometimes it's kind of fun to notice some guy looking at me (briefly only though!). Long stares are gross. A smile is welcome. Sometimes though I just want to be left alone and I will be annoyed at any attention anyone gives me.
  • Oh heck yes. I started tracking my TOM as one of the extra things you can add on here-- in addition to weight, waist size, etc. I have found that I consistently overeat hugely for 2 days, then can eat normally for a day or two, and then my period comes! It's rather remarkable that it's such a consistent problem. I decided…

  • OK, here's the thread I saw. It is old but I think her experience will resonate with you and be helpful. Read the first couple pages (her update is on page 2). http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1091693-isn-t-1200-calories-too-much-for-a-5ft-tall-woman?page=2
  • Yup, I agree. As PP said, calculate your calorie needs and pay attention to which numbers represent what you need including exercise, or not including exercise. Try using the "guided" goals on here; you'll need to log exercise separately if you do that, and eat back at least some of the calories you burn from exercise.…
  • I log everything. Even a 3 calorie pickle! As PP said, things add up. Especially if you're eating a lot of any vegetable each day. I may not be the ideal model of tracking in some ways (I don't weigh absolutely everything and I rely on my proven and excellent estimation abilities for some things) but I do log quantities of…
  • Thanks for the reply! :)
  • I guess it is a lot easier to gain weight than lose it! Though I've lost almost 2 lbs in the past 2 weeks, trying to maintain while doing a huge amount of seasonal exercise. I guess this is why we generally have a range, not a specific weight, to go for!
  • I like Athleta and Title 9 brand workout clothes-- very high quality! Though you would need to shop their sale sections to get things in your price range (that's what I usually do unless there's something at full price I desperately want). Also they are American companies-- not sure what the shipping would cost to the UK.…
  • I saw your other thread where you mentioned being really thin for your height and trying to gain weight (I really hope you are trying to recover!). I think you'd benefit from poking around the following awesome website, and reading the article in it I'm linking to, especially:…
  • She's right. Great weight/height formula-- going by that I'm spot on! (5'1", 105 lbs.)
  • I think you'd look healthiest between 1 and 2. To me, you are painfully thin in picture #3. Of course it is your body to do with as you like, but it looks to me like someone of your height and build would have to be disordered in some fashion to become that thin. I'm sorry to have to say that but you did ask for opinions!…
  • What?! No. It's actually on the edge of normal/overweight.
  • My why is that I'd been unhappy with my body for years. Years and years and years, most of my adult life. I am now in my late 20's and one day last winter I realized that this is the time in my life when I have the best chance of being really fit and looking great-- and staying that way. I realized that I was wasting my…
  • I tried it when I'd first started my weight loss, because I was lured by the supposed appetite-suppressing properties (I was HUNGRY all the time since my stomach hadn't adjusted to a lower food intake yet). It did nothing. Nothing at all. Don't bother! It didn't affect me in any way whatsoever and I was just as hungry when…
  • My fiance and one of my friends both have face shapes like this! Asymmetry is super common.
  • Also, that once you get used to eating a certain amount (your weight-loss food quantity), it will be really interesting at first getting used to eating so you can maintain. And that your digestive system is going to have to readjust as well. If you objected to belts before, because they were uncomfortable, they are now…
  • Have you seen the Sexypants thread? If so, give it another read. If not, it's incredible helpful info and, if you follow its advice, will increase your chances of success greatly. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants
  • She's right. :) You don't have to allow anyone else to see your diary-- you can keep it completely private, so even your MFP friends won't see it. Then, if this is a problem of feeling weird about other people seeing your mistakes, you won't have to worry anymore! But it is important to be accountable to yourself. And part…
  • I expect for the rest of my life. I am hoping that I will be able to learn the appropriate quantity of food for me in different seasons by logging for another year or so and then stop using this site, as I sure don't want to need to log my calories forever! How much exercise are you doing? Increasing that, if you can,…
  • Haha! This is great. My dad is a lawyer and I'm a scientist so jargon is amusing on various levels. . . OP, grad school stress/lack of time to myself for anything but studying/work was what got me on MFP as well! Make exercise and food tracking a habit; you're pretty much sure to succeed that way. Good luck!…
  • That sounds like the right approach. If you have been logging everything accurately and really have been netting 500-700 calories a day, you may be at risk for some scary side effects of coming out of, basically, starvation. In your situation, I think it would be wise to go to a nutritionist, both to make sure you don't…
  • Have you seen this website (and the article I'm linking to, in particular)? It is worth poking around on there extensively, as you're in recovery. I think you'd find this very helpful and interesting: http://www.youreatopia.com/blog/2011/9/14/i-need-how-many-calories.html But it does sound like your nutritionist is…
