Granola, cereal, crackers, roasted soynuts, nuts, kale chips. Almond, soy, or dairy milk in single-serve aseptic packages. Canned soups. Ramen(?!). Noodle soup that comes as a package with dry noodles and a flavor packet. Dried fruit. Most fresh fruit, actually, if you buy it in small enough quantities so you'll eat it all…

1. 27 2. 105 lbs 3. Vermont USA 4. Moderate exerciser; very active in daily life though (gardening and such) 5. 6 days/week 6a. Yes 6b. Dinner 7. About 4 (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at least 1 snack) 8. Hmmm, probably 6-12 cups a day depending on the weather and my activity 9. Eating the thing I want, in moderation 10.…

I eat the same way you do, and for a while, I wondered the same thing! I developed a habit of eating Greek yogurt with a scoop of whey protein powder and some hemp seeds and various other things added, for my breakfast almost every day when I was losing weight. That provided quite a lot of the protein I needed each day. Do…

Any exercise that works your pectoral muscles will help your breasts stand out a little more. Dumbbell flies come to mind. :) I have lost a lot of breast size as I've lost weight. In fact I'm trying to gain back a little fat as it seems like the place it leaves from first is my chest, hopefully it will come back on there…

Me! I've been trying to maintain for the last month, using the calories MFP told me to eat, and have lost an additional 3 pounds. I'm thinner than I like now and am trying to adjust my thinking to be able to eat enough to gain a couple of those pounds back, as the loss of body fat is making my hormones do some weird…

Wow, this thread is still going! I'm glad to see it's useful and interesting to people. It's great to see the range. I've unintentionally gotten down to 102, using MFP's maintenance number for me and eating back exercise calories, and am experiencing some hormonal weirdness at this small size, so I'm thinking my range…

I'm unsure about using TDEE because my activity level varies greatly from day to day; it seems like it makes more sense for me to follow the eating back exercise calories method because I can be sitting at my desk at work and just go for a short run, or garden for an hour, one day, and then the next day I could be hiking…

Haha, time to invest in some spandex underwear! And maybe workout shorts with lots of stretch, too-- check out shorts made for rock-climbing. Those often are relatively normal-looking garments but they're made of stretch woven fabric. :) And ladies who have this problem-- try those garments called "skorts"-- a short…

Re: eating enough fat-- I am consistently OVER my fat goal, actually. So it's not lack of fats. I think I'm just going to have to gain a couple pounds back and let my body adjust to this new size.
-
Have you built a good deal more muscle than you used to have? Maybe that's what's going on for you? Or are you trying to gain weight and perhaps it's from the extra food? Hormones are so weird!
-
Hm, interesting that several of you lovely people have mentioned meeting one's fat goal as being important in regulating hormones. I did cut down on fat some when I was actively losing weight, but now I'm back to eating full-fat dairy, olive oil, and butter pretty regularly. I guess there might be a time-lag though. I'm…

Well, what's happened to me is that my period, while not gone, is a lot shorter and lighter than it used to be. I don't mind that, but if it goes away entirely, I will be very worried indeed about myself. I've been a bit concerned about my sex drive too, but my partner and I have both been working way too much and not…

I haven't lost my period, but things are definitely different than they used to be. I think I might give it another month, try to gain a couple pounds, and see what happens, and if I need to then I will go see my gynecologist!
-
That's sort of what I was thinking-- I just need some time. And I need to find my actual maintenance number for a weight a couple pounds above the one I'm at now. :) Thanks for the reply!
-
I'm in the process of trying to figure this out. I switched to maintaining about a month ago, going by MFP's estimate for me (I'm 27 years old, 5'1", and trying to maintain around 105 lbs). Since switching to maintenance, I've lost another 3 pounds, which is not cool. . . I'm starting to notice hormonal issues connected to…

Ha, you beat me to it! :)

Yes, if you stay at or below your daily calorie allowance, you will lose weight. If you are using MFP the way it was designed-- logging exercise and eating the extra calories you get from doing so-- it's easy. Make sure, though, that you do eat back at least half your exercise calories or you will end up netting far too…

I'm in sort of the same situation, except I'm trying to maintain. I've just been enjoying eating more food too much and being 100-300 calories over maintenance almost every day. But then I'll have super active days and be 300-500 under, about twice a week. So far it is balancing out OK, but I've been struggling with the…
-
Urgh, wouldn't it get really soggy and squishy though? Why not just eat it within 3 days or so and store it the usual way?
-
I sort of do this, automatically-- but it ends up that I'm sometimes way under on the weekends (because I am extremely active then) and go over a few weekdays. So far, while maintaining, I've gone 2 lb below my goal weight doing this, and my weight right now seems to be creeping up a little, but is still well within my…

Aha, thanks! Sorry for blathering on so much on your thread! :/ In you picture, you look pretty muscular. 120ish might be fine for you! Muscle weighs a lot. Plus if you find maintaining around 115 is hard/you can't eat enough at that size, a slightly higher weight is probably better. I'm trying to figure that one out for…
-
I did kind of wonder about that a little. :( The things you said earlier on here about being unhappy with yourself because your increased calories included a chocolate bar made me wonder-- it's OK to eat sugary, yummy things like that occasionally, especially if it helps meet your calorie goal! It's also OK to enjoy…

I know, labeling one's shape is kind of annoying. It gets the job done for relating what you look like though! :) I have mine set at lightly active, and to maintain my current weight (103). If I got thin enough to reveal my lower tummy muscles, I would have NO bosom left so I'm going to stay at or above 103. I don't want…

I've had to start going to bed earlier than my fiance, too-- he needs less sleep than me and is insanely busy right now so he stays up too late working. I can't handle staying up with him though or I get too grumpy and exhausted to interact nicely at all. . . we've had rough times over this sort of thing too. We try to…

I'm several years older than you-- 27-- but I am 3/4" shorter! I think I still eat about the same way as I did when I was your age, maybe a teeny bit less since I have just started maintaining my weight after losing several pounds; I'm using MFP's calorie amount suggestions because before losing that weight, I never…

I'm actually another farmer girl-- we have a homestead and I grow most of the veggies we eat. So although I, like you, have a sedentary indoor day job, when I'm at home (evenings and for 6-12 hours each weekend day) I'll be outside doing stuff. I'm trying to maintain too-- I'm shorter than you so my range is about…

Congrats on resolving to do something about it! At least you didn't gain ALL the weight you originally lost back. :) And you can very easily lose a size! I don't know how much in inches is between sizes for those that fit you right now, but for me (went from a size 10 to a size 4) each inch lost around bust/waist/hips was…

Now, after 6 pages (I think) of the thread, I don't know if any more input is valuable-- but to answer the original question, yes, I lost all of the weight I needed to lose without cutting out carbs. I did train myself to eat smaller quantities of bread, pasta, etc. I also discovered that carb-heavy breakfasts tend to make…

Good points, and you sound kind of similar to me in how your exercise patterns work. I do try to think of my intake as cumulative over a 7-day period, so "borrowing" calories does seem to work well. I guess I will try harder to do it that way! Sounds like the consensus so far is that TDEE is not suitable for me at all.…

Hmm, this is really helpful. I'm going to come back to your advice in the morning/sometime tomorrow as I just hit the wall and am too tired to think/look at the computer anymore tonight! Thank you, and I will give all that lots of thought!
