  • I mentioned it just a little while ago on another thread, but a lot of pubs have menu options marked for 500 calories or less now (this is true of Marston pubs, and I think Wetherspoons put calorie content on all their items). You may be able to check online as well. If this pub doesn't, possibly try something vegetarian?…
  • I had to address this issue with my own health, as opening a bottle of wine meant I finished it in one sitting. Since alcohol is my main treat in life and diet, I really focused on spreading out the treat- one bottle of wine over two days means two days worth of treat. I also used my extreme laziness to motivate myself ie.…
  • I have this problem and have done since being a toddler- I just can't stand breakfast, often to the point of nausea. I'm better now I'm older, and go through phases of managing a breakfast, but the only thing I ever want is cheese on toast (preferably blue cheese). When I have forced myself to eat breakfasts, I find that…
  • I've been mulling this question over as I'm quite new to the site. I'm trying not to eat them back at the moment because I am extremely sedentary and although I'm exercising 4-5 days a week, it's very low-impact exercise, so it's not like I need fuel to replace what was lost doing aerobics or jogging. I do see them as a…
  • A lot of salads are actually a minefield. The leaves etc. make up a tiny portion of a shop-bought/restaurant salad, and the rest is cheeses, croutons and dressings. I don't know where you're from, but in my area, a lot of pubs and restaurants have a few items that are marked up at 500 calories or less. They tend to be…
  • Yoga is extremely progressive. Everyone is inflexible when they first start out- the important thing is to be patient, focus on correct breathing and technique, and eventually, everything will loosen. It's important to remember with yoga that no matter how far away you are from the advanced position, you are always reaping…
  • Best of luck Derek :) You seem to have a great attitude grounded in reality- I'm sure you'll be successful!
  • I don't have any pictures, but I've found yoga is great for cellulite.
  • Hi, I'm trying to lose a load of weight I put on over the past 5 years at the moment. Before that however, I was a successful dieter. As a teenager, I realised I'd stopped growing upwards and was now only growing outwards, so I embarked on a low calorie diet with exercise to lose weight. Initially, I lost 1st 7lbs quite…
  • I'm very fortunate that I don't have much of a sweet tooth. My husband though, managed to really wean himself off the late night sweet binge, by having low-fat hot chocolate. It's sweet enough to take the edge off, is warm and comforting, and can be easily made into a routine to take your mind off other sweets.
  • What I've tried to do, particularly over the weekend where I don't want to exercise, is just mildly up my activity level. In the past, I have spent Saturday and Sunday parked on my backside hardly moving, but this weekend, I made an effort to do extra bits of chores I wouldn't normally have done at a weekend. I don't log…
  • Please don't lose heart. I've just had my first weekend since joining MFP and it has not been pretty. I've had loads of treats and it felt like I'd undone a week's worth of hard work. But then I took stock of reality- I don't intend to weigh-in until Thursday (a week after signing up) but I decided, in the interests of…
  • Wow, what a difference! Great work :)
  • I only really think of housework as a calorie-burning exercise when I'm doing a big session of it ie. the whole house and doing a wide variety ie. vacuuming, washing pots, dusting, de-cobwebbing etc. Anything else seems a bit optimistic, but that said- all activity is good.

  • I don't know whether this information will be helpful to you, but I have always thought that I had a very seriously carb-heavy diet. By tracking my food intake and inputting my home cooked recipes on here, I've discovered that I'm easily within the guidelines on just about any advice website known to man. I guess what I'm…
  • You've done so well! You look amazing.
  • Amazing- what a difference in 30 days!
  • Hello! I've been doing IF for about 2 months and I'm ready to quit- it's part of why I've signed up to the site as an alternative. I don't have too many problems with the fasting part, which is part of why I decided to give it a go, but it's more like an event diet- suitable for shedding some weight quickly, but you…
  • Hi! Welcome. I'm new too :)
  • I'm looking for the same thing :)
  • What an amazing difference! Looking good!
  • Hi :) I'm new too. I don't blame you for not being bothered about Weight Watchers. Everyone I know who's been involved with that kind of slimming group always seems to be indoctrinated into some kind of cult of WW...

  • Hi :) I'm pretty new too. I've long lived with vegetarians in my life, and I love vegetarian food myself. Your best bet for good protein is to eat lots of pulses. There are loads of varieties so you can find ones you like, and they can be really versatile- great for soups, sauces etc. I used to like making butterbean…
  • Great job- you look wonderful!
  • I have counted my veg/salad, but I'm a bit lazy about it. I have mixed salads, and sitting there calculating every single item I put in it would take forever. I generally select a vague salad from the list for my calorie count as a guideline and then consider some of my spare calorie allowance to be used for the rest.
  • A stone is 14lbs.
  • Wow, you look like a pin-up!
  • People who see you most days really won't notice much of a difference, often even over a very long period of time, just because its gradual and their expectations of how you look change without them noticing as you lose weight. It will also be affected by how your weight is distributed- I confess I had a friend who lost a…
  • Wow, you look wonderful!
  • I agree it would probably help to be up earlier. It takes me about an hour to an hour and a half to be ready to face exercise (I am extraordinarily lazy). The way you describe your enjoyment at the ride home would suggest to me that perhaps you could try and find the same motivational enjoyment of the ride there? Perhaps…
